Definitely reluctant to buy another one after I had all of the same issues you described but with my GoPro Max. Even with the Enduro batteries, it just can’t take the cold. And I live in Arizona…
Insta360 x3 is game changer for snowboarding footage, i've heard in September they will be releasing x4, i wonder what tech they're going to use there.
I've had my GoPro 11 turn off for overheating and freezing in the last week.
Still rocking my GoPro hero 8 😎 does everything I want it to do.
I have the Hero 10 and love it, but find the battery life doesn't do very well in the cold. I bring a few spares in my pocket under my jacket to keep them warm (same w/ the camera when not filming/going up the chair lift). Do those black/white enduro batteries help a ton with the extreme hot/cold temps?
Enduros will make the 10 ten times better.
Would you recommend the media mod or a hard case? I have the 12 just unsure if i need it
I really like the new Max lens 2.0 on the hero 12
I’m so glad you didn’t say it was shit as my Mum bought me one for Xmas 😂
Do you ever shoot in 5k or only 4K. If only 4K, are you always in the highest frame rate in case you need slomo?
DJI Action 4 for me in winter. The battery life is so damn good
I know a lot of people will place their helmet mounts right on the brim of the helmet and that seems to get both the board and the terrain in view. I got an action camera a year back and for whatever reason placed the mounting point higher up on my helmet, right around where the most curvature is. I have a lot of trouble properly capturing both the terrain and my movement in my videos and find that in order to see my board I give up the terrain and in order to see the terrain i lose my own board so much that you couldn't even tell which I'm on. Any suggestions on how I could fix this?
place the camera with a J hook mount, right above the middle of your eyebrows
Nice video,
I have a GoPro 12 and Insta Ace pro. I am going to sell my GoPro 12. Between the low light ability and app of the insta I feel like my GoPro is stuck in the early 2000s. While day light they both rock the GoPro lacks everywhere else.
Hey, thanks for the video!
Could you share your usual settings for recording with the Hero 12 ?
Definitely! Your video quality is great and I'd like to copy it. Everything cranked to max or some things turned down or changed for good battery life and proper FOV?
Yeah would love to get the settings too!
What about GPS on the GoPro12? I want to use on my bike, and want to see route or speed in the video, does it work?
Still using the hero 8 here and shoot in 1080p, didn't see the point of 4k if im uploading to youtube or whatever. Wouldn't mind the 12 for the better batteries in the cold
Same! Just bought 3 new batteries for 25 euro and it rocks again 👍
Which software do you use for editing the video? I tried it on my iPad with GoPro quick, but that doesn’t work good enough for me so I’m looking for other software.
Premiere Pro is great, but requires subscription
I switched from adobe premiere to Davinci resolve. Incredible software. Even the free version is really good. No subscription!
would u say ND filters are necessary ?
Go pro just isn't the company it used to be.
I think they’ve redeemed themselves with this one
I'm glad you're still enjoying using their product!@@SnowboardProCamp
What angle do I put on my helmet
Havent purchased one for a few years now but might get the 12! Looks awesome
The best way to dial in your angle is to experiment with it. Record a few seconds and then watch it back to make sure it looks good. Hyper view is nice for helmet POV
The 11 is actually a better camera. Just turn off the gps on the 11 and you have the same camera. The 12 is just a software change and they’ve eliminated any way to have gps data, a true step back. As a long term GoPro user I switched to dji osmo 4 and it’s better in every way, only complaints on the osmo 4 is the remote will only stay on for 30min if not recording and there is no option to stop that (something dji should update) and also newly found bug where if you format the sd card in the camera it won’t be recognized in a pc so always format in the pc. Insta ace pro is another good option and I think their remote is even better but doesn’t have same FOV as dji (neither does GoPro) and no removable lens which is dumb and can’t believe same mistake made after the feedback people gave on the hero 8. If GoPro doesn’t knock it out of the park this year with the 13 then they’ll be completely obsolete, no quick mounting, no fast charging, poor audio (similar to insta but Dji audio is on a totally different level), need to use 5.3k for hyperview which makes the file sizes pointlessly large instead of a large FOV 4k, no gps with no gps remote option. Just really took a back seat this year with the 12 vs other options.
Definitely best.
Did you go down in subs ?

Insta360.
Nice features but the image quality is really poor. Cant watch the videos. The footage look like it was shot with old camera with stabilizer
The operating time of the 11 and 12 gopro does not differ if you turn off GPS in GOPRO 11. But it is impossible to turn on GPS in GOPRO 12 because it is simply not there. ENDURO batteries do a great job in the cold. This weekend I was riding at -25 degrees Celsius, and one enduro battery on my GOPRO 11 was enough for about 30-40 minutes. With cool greetings from Russia. The review is unreliable. The differences between the cameras are MINIMAL
insta360 way better for winter sport. gave up gopro for years.
