I have a treasured memory of finding this video about 7 years ago while tripping on various legal highs with my friend in his flat on a Friday night. We found a playlist of various post rock, chill type songs, Sigur Ros, Hammock, etc, and this. We both slipped away into a waking sleep, absorbed into an ocean of tranquility and awakening. This haunting, textured melody still remains etched into my memory with an unexplainable significance, and hearing it hurtles me right back to that other-worldly experience where it felt like there was an unobtainable truth just out of reach. That's what the title of the song feels like to me.
wow. this brings such peace to my heart. this is such an amazing piece of music. Eluvium sounds like a gentle mix of M83 and Brian Eno. this kind of music makes me want to stop life and get lost in nature with a backpack full of weed and never come back.
i saw eluvium open for explosions in the sky last june, and it was one of the most intense, amazing things i've ever witnessed. not as good as eits, but still fantastic.
it's an e-bow, it gives you unlimited sustain like a sustainer pickup would but you use instead of a pick. There quite popular among post-rock artists i think.
Brilliant. My favorite piece of his is Zerthis Was A Shivering Human Image... can't find it on UA-cam... anyone have a cut of it from UA-cam, live or studio... no matter?
I believe it’s on here now. It’s also my favourite piece of his. I sat on my bed for hours one day in November 2005 listening to to Lambent Material over and over. I was experiencing morning after withdrawal and hating what had become of my existence. I eventually ended up with Zerthis on repeat. At some point I was going to quit and try living again no matter how painful it might be. I don’t think anything will ever be able to top this album for me, because I associate it with living.
Wow, I'll have to give him a look at, if he gives the same effect. Thank you, I have been looking for more of this type of music. I haven't heard of Brian Eno
Did it happen to be the Portland show? I was at that one...so amazing. Eluvium made everybody zone out (in a good, happy, blissful way haha), then EITS came on and blew everyone's socks off.
@GMB32557142 yeah, same here exactly. but sometimes, even when I'm not in that mood, i can easily let it drift around my head when I'm concentrating on something else. but it doesn't get me the same...
OMG!!! when he played this at music fest northwest, i nearly shit myself once all the ambiance and reverb with the loops kicked in. it was pure fucking genius.... i love this song
At any time I can listen to the first 5 minutes of Zerthis Was A Shivering Human Image. After 5 minutes though, I mean, I gotta be really in the ambient zone-out mood: late at night
I don't really like what's on the radio, it just seems like this kind of repeats too much. I understand that's the style but maybe if he just changed it up a little I would like it better. It can still be atmospheric with different parts to it. Still good though.
It's really good but a little too repetetive. I don't see why he doesn't just alternate between three different parts or something. You know, like a verse chorus and bridge.

This sound will remain in my memory at the life.
The attention of the respect is shown.
One of my favorites by him

not as good as eits, but still fantastic.
I recently saw him open for Jesu and Sunn. He played this first, and I honestly could've gone home happy after just one song.
Man what a lineup. Wish I could've seen that show
This is my favorite eluvium song, but there are so many great ones it's hard to choose.
Saw this guy live in vancouver and took it for granted, wish I didnt.
I will see this amazing guy in Paris with Explosions in the Sky, what a day! It is going to be very emotional.

All of Eluviums songs just make me feel like I'm floating. NO OTHER musician has been able to do that before.
this is my favorite song to see him do live. anyone know where i can find the tab? i want to play it myself :[
Brilliant.

This is... Amazing.
In fact, I'd hate to lump it in with "music" as it is today.
Suffice to say; I'm getting me one of those Ebows.
It is great, his feelings in his hands, thanks to share!:)
wow. thanks, it's awesome to see how he does this. Really inspiring.
my favorite

jesus christ almighty this is perfect perfect perfect.

what was life like 15 years ago

I think this is that show! Crystal Ballroom? That Greet Death encore turned into a mosh pit!!

is that one of those electric field bow things? that's so cool
OMG!!! when he played this at music fest northwest, i nearly shit myself once all the ambiance and reverb with the loops kicked in. it was pure fucking genius.... i love this song
I like this live version better than the studio recording.
wow.
One guy, one guitar, one keyboard, one laptop, and a couple of looper pedals.
yes.
yes
Can anyone tell me what guitar tuning he uses on this track?
Was this at the Hollywood Palladium?
nah it was in hollywood
i drove up from san diego cuz they never come here.

Not Brian Eno either?
try Stars of the Lid
@dollfiedied lol that is eluvium playing it :)
what he keeps on right hand after 4:00 ?
Its an E bow
I like. I keep thinking he’s going into the theme for Twin Peaks and then he doesn’t.
...is that a Rosewood Jaguar?
That's an ebow. It's making those sounds you're talking about.
learn a thing or two about minimalism before you comment on such beautiful art
Yeah you should really check him out! I favourited two songs of his, go to my page and see them
every night
Therefore, dress like him so that others know that you have good taste in music. XD
Afraid the acoustics/fidelity of the recording simply doesn't do the song any justice, but it beats the hell out of no recording.
Haha, 5 thumbs down? I thought it was pretty damn funny.
the hat makes him look like he has a huge head
amaaazing music tho.
I love the music but someone should tell him that he dresses like one of Santa's little helpers
...an Ebow.
Genius by a thief
It sounds like a particularly sad bit of Final Fantasy. With extra horrible jangling.

dude go listen to some stupid, mainstream music then. this is like fine wine for the ears. you need to learn to appreciate it for what it is.
