- The University of the Philippines (UP) Pep Squad looked to defend their UAAP Cheer Dance title after it presented a party-inspired routine in the 2013 competition Sunday at the Mall of Asia Arena.
The UP Pep Squad are targeting their fourth consecutive UAAP Cheer Dance crown.

UP still the best! Smart Routine! It could have been better if were able to perfect their stunt, but still they are the BEST!
Naawa ako sa kanila kasi definitely mas hinarapan pa nila yung routine vs. their last time. Okay lang kahit matalo, kaso hindi pa malinis yung performance. Dibale sana kung perfect run, mas acceptable yung pagkatalo. Nakita ko pa sa FB photos na umiiyak sila after kaya as a fan, ang sakit.
Di po ako cheerleading expert. Pero after mapanood ang sa NU, at Thailand and Japan Cheearleading teams, here's my opinion/advice para makapag-improve sila:
1. Kulang pa sa difficulty yung partner stunts.
2. Make the mounting, in all stunts and pyramids, more difficult. Kung kayang gawan ng mas maraming twist, gawin.
3. Give the bases and mid-bases an extra push in their strength training.
4. Give the flyers more training on mid-air gymnastics training. Yung mga teams na nabanggit sa taas nag-tu-twist pa in the air while being tossed. Although okay na yung height of tosses nila.
5. But most importantly, practice several times with perfect runs to the point that moving is already in their instinct para hindi ma-mental block at magkamali habang nagpeperform. Do stunts with proper calculations, right amount of strength and without hesitations.
Kahit hindi manalo, okay lang basta:
1. Nag-improve kayo from year-to-year.
2. Malinis ang routine.
3. Maging national champion pa rin at i-represent ang PH sa international kahit hindi manalo. (Wohoooo!)

i hope that UP will regain its title. yeah, its true that sometimes we need to take a good fall to know where we stand.. success comes after the unmeasureable efforts. go UP!
idol ko pa rin ang UP when it comes to dancing! routines are so difficult and they nailed it! may laglag lang pero so nice pa rin. astig talaga nilang sumayaw. uniform lahat ang movements. even sa mga tumblings, smooth na smooth talaga. champion kayo for me. :) cheerdancer din ako sa school at idol talaga kayo ng team namin!! KUDOS UP!! BAWI THIS YEAR!! :)))

And boy did that happen HAHAHA
NU deserves the title... They executed their routine as flawless as they can... That's their major improvement... Also they had their dance superbly choreographed and and they had balanced the collaboration and punk of cheering and dancing... Most who doesn't know well this sport can easily tell that NU doesn't deserve it that their routine is simple and safe, they thought that who brings most of the crowd with the loudest cheers always win but that's not how it goes. The routines look so simple
Kahit hindi sila nanalo, ilang beses ko siyang pinanood.
kahit may mali silang routine, effortless parin tignan at ang swabe ng bawat execution.
Ang cool kasi party party! Yeah!!!
I was having goosebumps while watching their routine from start to finish despite of their falls in between. Di natinag ng mga bagsak na yun ang galing, appeal at impact ng UP Pep Squad! #letsgoUP #UPFight :D
Sobrang GALING! Hindi ako nakapag-focus masyado sa stunts nila nung nanood ako sa arena. Yung pesteng mga mata ko kasi, yung failed routines ang nakikita at bawat mahuhulog, nalalaglag din ang puso ko kaya di ko maenjoy ang performance. Pero watching it now, sobrang, sobrang galing! Yung level of difficulty ng stunts, out of this world. Di ko ma-imagine ang training nila. Ang galing ng flyers, ang galing ng mga nagbubuhat. Magaling na magaling pa rin kahit imperfect. Kudos, UP!
UP did their best. it was so difficult stunts pa din. veterans who did perform last year were not here since they competed for the international competitions. NU girls are gymnasts indeed. congrats NU.

I saw the scoresheet (NU - 696.5, UP - 620.5). UP got 18pts deduction, 1pt for NU. Ang layo pa rin ng agwat ng NU & UP kahit walang deductions.

Even though they commited some mistakes they still continue their play like there's nothing happened. Im proud of you UP pinakita nyong hindi basta basta sumusuko ang UP sa kahit ano mang laban.

Kung walang error tiyak champion na nman, deserving pala ang NU ngayon napa old ko na. Ang gnda ng Mga performance!..

Nu pep squad pina nindigan nila yung routine nila ma feel mo yung theme at music hindi magulo pakinggan, hindi katulad routine ng up pep squad sobrang magulo yung theme nila may halong jazz, hip hop, ballet,funky, 70s dance step, club dance magulo hindi mo ma feel tapos sa music magulo halo halo rin hindi ko ma feel ang party rock anthem ang feel ko crazy anthem.

Magaling talaga tong UP. Kala ko sila padin yung champion kahit madaming laglag kasi iba talaga yung mga routine at stunts nila.

You will base the score sa present performance. The scores are final and it's fair enough. Next year will be tougher for sure.

Tasteful ang choice ng music, routine. Attitude is superb. Andami nga lang bagsak. Ibigay na talaga sa NU, malinis, and approaching the difficulty of UP. Asympthotic lang ba. Let's go fight UP!
The difficulty of the stunts is very high and even the shifting of flyers from place to place is strong. The way the flyers reach their points is unusual yet jaw-dropping. Kudos to UP Pep Squad. :))
Their routine can compete internationally especially the stunts even not achieve 100% still wow. Too bad they did not defend their title but they are still the best it just happened the winning squad has no error.
super love ko talaga stunts nila every year.... others are just imitations of UP
Errors and flaws are inevitable. I guess UP has the great choreography. Amazing performance. Hands down to UP PEP squad. :)

actually same kmi ng nramdamn ni edrozelledocrn..kung papanoorin mo kc ang linis ng galaw ng up,ang nu kc mabilis gumalaw kya parang mgulo at kalat,,pero gnun tlga,up had mistake kaya kailangan sumunod s rules db..newei nag enjoy aq s perf ng up,,gling nio tlga,,,aabangan ko kau nx yr...luv u guys,,,
Three times na may nahulog, based on other videos posted. But UP Pep's stunts are still unbeatable!!!
they deserve to be a champion. di lang talaga malinis ang kanilang performance at marami silang errors. better luck next time UP :))

I did watch UP's performance last year and compared it with this one. Less mistakes yung last year but hamak naman na mas mahihirap ang mga stunts at ang mga bagong routine nila ngayon. Nakakapanghiniyang, kasi bet na bet ko talaga sila. Okay lang yan guys, save your energy for next year and show em' what you've got!! Congratulations still!! :))

I love how UP Pep keeps all the other squads on their toes, always pushing themselves to the limit! If you see the score sheets, isa tayo sa pinakamaraming deductions but our scores (although significantly lower than NU) is still high. Nakuha pang mag-runner up. Keep up the good work UP PEP!!
ganda ng routines and blockings, tapos lupet ng mga stunts mapangahas and pyramids na hindi ginagapang, beautiful dance moves, lagng may bagong mga galaw, ganda talga! lakas ng dating nito! winner kayo sakin UP pep squad. hindi ako naboring....
Stunts are exhilarating, sayang sumablay lang sa iba, but you guys really did a great job. Bawi na lang next time..
one thing na di mawawala sa manonood kapag UP pep squad na e ang kilabot, kahit 2nd na lang sila ngayon, still di pa rin masasabi na di na sila magaling, remember 3 straight years na sila ang title holder, ang pagiging 2nd nila ngayon ay nangangahulugan lang ng mas kabang abang na UP next season.
Ganyan talaga mga comment ng mga walang alam or never naging cheerleader or cheer dancer... Di alam ang nga technicalities... NU deserves it technicality wise... So no question they really won the competition... The podium finish is the best result there could possibly be...

Concept wise party theme is easier than Arabian Siguro kaya may credit din but still up is super amazing... Fan lang po not taga up but galing din ng nu... Ganda ng hair nila Sana pinula niyo or hot pink para litaw na litaw... You amazed me guys love
Grabeh ang hirap ng routines nila! Could have been flawless sana..no doubt sila ulit nagchamp! Kinabahan ako dun sa mga bumagsak..buti talaga alerto yung mga sumasalo...kudos to them! Ang galing nila rumesbak kahit may errors! I can really feel yung lakas ng loob ng UP Pep Squad...yan ang UP...always daring to defy the odds...it's more attitude than anything. Love it!!! 3 3 3 Fave ko pa rin yung Madonna routine nila hehe, but this I believe was more challenging to execute...next yr ulit!

So happy to be finally part of this crowd cheering for our dearest Alma Mater. Still, kudos to the UP Pep Squad for placing 1st runner up in the recently concluded UAAP CDC 2013. You guys never fail to awe the crowd with your unique concept and death defying stunts. Looking forward to your comeback next year because I know you will come out with a more powerful and more 'pasabog' routine. Hats off to you guys. See u again next season. =)
I agree, not being bias pero ang performance ng UP was a performance you wanna watch over and over, mabilis yong transition from one stunt to the other pero yon nga lang may mga flaw sa routine pero still remarkable, how they manage to create such beautiful routine. I will never tired being a fan of UP Pepsquad.

Because you keep pushing yourself better than what you were previously. Errors are caused because you try daringly but scientifically - holy cow, using the concept of center of gravity,1) a woman (lvl 2) catches another by the latter's butt & foot tossed from the ground(1:21),2) a woman (lvl 2) supports two women standing on her elbows(1:36); 3) a woman (lvl 2) twirls another just balancing the latter on her bended leg(4:29); 4) a woman(lvl 2) lifting another and them forming a "T"(4:41).

Honestly it was not as good as their previous performances but still one of the best this year. I guess NU got the 1st place kasi their routines were executed with precision. Pero degree of difficulty UP pa din. Congratulations to all the winners!
UP sana ang Champion kung walang nahulog sa stunts..bawas points.. N.U.'s performance is really neat though, kahit "playing safe" ang routines daw.. They deserve it naman. Congrats to all the universities who participated. They all did their best :)
