Also printing is good for when you have any clicks and pops from like filters or any plugins you might automate on the beat or even the vocals. I like to print and use that isotope de-click plugin to get rid of the clicks and pops
Being an old head from the analog days the term "print" has really been throwing me. I'm used to saying "record" not "print" but see how your printing to another track that make sense to me. Thanks for the explanation.
Thank you for this video! I've been searching for an easy explanation and examples of print vs bounce. You've literally cleared up a cloud of confusion that's been hanging over me.
Thanks for breaking down the differences between printing and bouncing mixes … Love that blue wave that goes by rather quickly Captain Wavy… That’s a nice added touch to your videos … 👍🏾
Why could you not hear when printing ? How would you know there was a mistake with no input monitoring? Is the output bus for the print track not the master bus?
Im using a Tascam Model 24 so I route my tracks through it and print that mix back into the DAW. I like making automation on the fly if need be. Good video!
Dope breakdown! I’ve worked with engineers who do both. And like you said, one engineer printed my mixes for a large project (20 plus songs) and we would stop whenever we heard something off. The engineer I work with now on mainly singles just bounces everything so we keep the pace up. Keep the vids coming! #AYEMANE
Hey what's good Wav, Can you make a video on how to properly use automation when using echos and other effects such as delays and sound bender effects on certain parts of the vocals instead of the entire vocal? Much appreciated if possible!
he showed you how to do it in the video, you highlight the print clip, go over to your clips list and it'll be highlighted there, you right click and hit export as file.
Yo Wavy whats good? Question what if you have effects on your master track and you want that processing in the mix as well . Would you have to send the output of the master fader to the print bus and record that or would I need to set up a sub master with the effects and send that to a print bus? Preciate everything fam. #GOAT #WavyForPresident
Great video but I'm confused.. When I print a final mix into a stereo channel it creates 2 mono tracks in my Audio Files folder. How do I get a single stereo file? Do you later Bounce the best printed mix to create a single file?
When I printed my mix, it sounded very dry . I had heavy reverb and delay originally , but while I was printing it all went away. Is it bc how I have my vocals routed?
Im trying to figure out the same thing....built a massage template and when i go to print non of my effects show up on the printed track......Ive been trying to figure this out all day......
I like the breakdown but I wanted to see how to mix with the hardware and after you got it sounding good with the gear how do you print doing that ‼️ ⁉️you gotta have record on the whole time while doing it or what? lol or do you just have the track playing till you got it the way you want it with the hardware & then it’ll save with the hardware settings then you record/print?
Hello WavyWayne, I agree with everything you just showed but I have a question for you? instead of going that way, would you say that for the bus routing use the mix bus as the insert point on the print track and at the bottom of said track use the name of the Song? ( She loves you) for example, then put the said track in what I would call the READY TO MASTER folder as a finished product. Let me know what you think!
Great video! I recently learned how to print but it never occurred to me that if I made a mistake I could fix it, pick up where I left off and consolidate 🤯
Can you do a video on how to connect outboard gear to pro tools
Would love to see that aswell. Basically you either need an interface with enough inputs and outputs or a patchbay✌
Same here
You also have to consider midi
Also printing is good for when you have any clicks and pops from like filters or any plugins you might automate on the beat or even the vocals. I like to print and use that isotope de-click plugin to get rid of the clicks and pops

That intro is everything man 😁 bring it back
Needed this lil piece of info🤙🏾
What if you have processing on the master bus? Would you select the master as well with everything else or JUST THE MASTER BUS ITSELF?
Why could you not hear when printing ? How would you know there was a mistake with no input monitoring? Is the output bus for the print track not the master bus?

When I used to use offline render it would always have like a 40 second silence at the end so I don’t recommend doing offline
