I like CERTAIN ASMR noises but I can't stand the sounds that people's mouths make- like the moist mouth noises. These are more evident in recordings- like one of my professors has lecture videos I have to mute and just read the transcript because he makes these weird squelchy noises when he talks and it's like nails on a chalkboard to me.

As an ASMR fan for the past 9 years, I loved this! You did a great job & I honestly have no idea why some people are being negative. I don’t often get tingles anymore (tingle immunity can be a b*tch lol), but this video actually gave me quite a few scalp tingles. Combining my two favorite things: cage setups + asmr? The perfect thing to watch right before bed! If you do decide to do anymore asmr or soft spoken hamster videos in the future, I’ll definitely be first in line to watch them ^_^ Also! Carlos is adorable; I have 2 rescued Syrians (both originated from rodent mills) and 1 ethically bred Syrian from Nantucket Hamstery, and I agree with you, the coat quality difference in particular is crazy! Both of my rescues lived jn likely abusive and definitely neglectful situations for around a year each before coming to me, so I can’t really comment on the personality differences, unfortunately. Anyway, I’ll quit rambling, but thank you for this video! I really enjoyed it ^_^

Sand for syrians is an added enrichment and is not necessarily needed. It is seen as a litter dish to them and unfortunately I have been having a lot of problems with controlling ammonia when using sand for syrians. So that is why he is not getting one but at the rescue we use sand for dwarves and gerbils when gerbils don't make it messy.

@@jjrhwy3376 Syrians will go to the bathroom inside their sand. When the sand is first placed inside the enclosure, they may use it to dig but will turn it into a litter box very quickly. Because of this, we do not use sand for Syrians often at the rescue due to the high amounts of ammonia coming from the sand. It does not control odor at all. Dwarf hamsters do have different coats. The Roborovski for example becomes oily when no sand is inside of their enclosure since roborovki's come from deserts of Central Asia and will of rolling around in it with their feet in their air. Same with some Russian dwarf hybrids that originate from Russia. Syrians without sand still maintain their coats and wash them regularly, so this is why we do not personally use sand. We would suggest adding sand to those who cannot clean themselves anymore, to see if they would use it like seniors of medical need hamsters. But to Syrians we see this as an added benefit rather than a need, if other enrichment items are present. Syrians are from dry climates, so sometimes we can use dirt for a dig box without them peeing in it. But for sand, we use it less and don't require it for adoptions. Niteangel has come out with litter recently that claims to absorb the ammonia smell, so we are testing this litter out to see if we could use it for our Syrians.
ALL hamsters need sand baths. Not dust baths, sand baths. It keeps them clean, because they can’t be bathed in water. They lick/ groom themselves like cats, but have excess oils, and by rolling around in sand, it gets rid of those oils, and makes your hamsters coat clean, and fresh. Please add a sand bath into your hamster’s enclosure, wether you like it or not. This is a necessity, and is very cheap, too. You can pick up the sand at Home Depot, Lowe’s, or any pet store that sells reptile sand. I recommend the children’s play sand from the two household stores, and fine grain natural reptile sand from the pet stores. I hope this helps you if you are confused as to the idea of hamsters sand baths. Ps, the sand bath should be large enough to place multiple hides, chews, toys, etc. Also want to add, thank you for this video! It was awesome. I just brought my hammy home a few days ago. He doesn't come out till verrry late at night 😅. This gave me some inspiration for my hamster cage. PS I would love to see an updated hamster room tour!
Hiya! Your hammy may be a ghost hamster. These hamsters come out very late at night and do not like physical contact with humans and other animals. This is not 100 percent and is nothing to worry about just thought i'd let you know. Have a nice day / night!! 😁
this enclosure is fantastic! the only tweak i would put is the wheel because research has shown hamsters need wheels of 11 inches diameter to avoid hurting their backs

Oh my GOSH Carlos is H. U. G. E!! A lot of my friends comment on how large my Syrian, Cinnamon is, which I'm pretty proud of since he was bred as a show Hamster, so his genetics are good and it shows, but wow Carlos must have some pretty good genetics for him to be so large! For comparison, the first ever Syrian Hamster I owned (Over 10 years ago now) was around half the size. I hope people keep breeding Hamsters for their good genetics so the future can be full of big, chunky, healthy hammies like Carlos and Cinnamon!

I love the cage and the setup, it's so pretty! He is a big hamster, mine is also from an ethical breeder but is still the smallest syrian I've had :) And that black and white coat is lovely :)
first of all I would love to say thank you for providing a big enough enclosure for your hamster. I would add a lot more bedding I know you have the minimum which is 6 to 10 inches but adding more bedding is always better. Your water bottle and whee are not touching the top of the tank so you could definitely add more. I would also add a sand bath. Sand baths are mandatory for hamsters so that they can get the oil off of there for fur and so they can stay clean because hamsters cannot get wet. I would also try to add driftwood or sticks something like that to add into the empty spaces. Hamsters like a very full enclosure so that they can feel safe. I would also try to add other substrates like mass, cork granules, coconut soil. no hate just some options to make it better.
I'm in love with Carlos! He is such a gorgeous hamster. 😍 Wish we had ethical hamster breeders where I live. My robo has a pretty good temper though, even if she originally was bought from a pet shop (I didn't buy her, I adopted her from a person who got her from the pet store and wanted to rehome her). It did take time for her to trust me, but Sushi is doing great. I've had her for over a year now. She's pretty tame for a roborovski and will climb on my hand when I place it in her enclosure. ❤
Hiya, I need some advice. I am worried about my hamster. His name is addipo and he is a male syrian. I got him in august so he is still fairly young. I am worried because he dosent come out much during the night. He lives in the zoozone2 but ever since I put him in there he has become less and less active..When he was in his old cage (300sq") He was extremly active and would spend all night on his wheel. Now he barley notices his wheel. He looks fine when he is up and running around but he only does this for a few mins then goes back to bed. Is it possible that he dosent enjoy having a lot of room and is overwhelmed? Or something about the cage is bugging him? He dosent appear to have anything wrong with him physically. :)
How long has he been in the Zoozone and do you have enough bedding depth and lots of places to hide? Some Syrian like a crowded cage so they don't feel as expose.
Does his cage have enough bedding and enrichment? I would see if there are ways to add more hides, toys, chews, and things like that - if it's just a big empty space he might be feeling exposed/afraid being out in the open? It sounds like a vet check would be a good idea - just to rule out anything being wrong with him that could be causing a change in behavior. If the cage is set up well and everything else is the same and the vet says he's good, maybe try switching back to his old enclosure for a while and see if he's more active again? You could then try upgrading him to the bigger one again when he's a bit older...
@@azuradawn5683 He has an area with 6" of bedding, a few hides and lots of toys. We are gonna try him in a smaller cage for a bit just to see if anything changes in his behavior. Thanks for your help :)

loved the cage setting up ....i'm not keen on the asmr type video ..i like the natural you ....exicted / or irrated , just the normal munchie we love to watch .
Spot cleaned weekly, deep cleaned monthly but since this is a lot bigger than 600 sq inches, we can get away with going a month and a week or more, depending on how much bedding you put inside. If it's only 5-6 inches, monthly. 10+ inches i'd say it could almost last 2 months. This is also the largest size, the smaller cages would need to be cleaned monthly or so.
I got my first ethically bred hamster this year. It’s like night and day how different his temperament is compared to my 2 pet store hamsters. Going that route from now on
I do not understand manufacturers and why they can’t design an appropriate hamster enclosure rather than a bird cage and call it a hamster cage. I like the niteangel you showed before but they aren’t available, I could even do the bin however I can’t find one big enough, everyone is sold out! Wish I lived closer I would be a foster for hamsters I love them so much and appreciate every video of yours I’ve seen! Until I have the proper enclosure set up I won’t be adding to my little fur family.
I love the look of this cage and appreciate the extra size for the hamster, but it makes me worry that some people may not be diligent enough at checking every corner for cleanliness on a regular basis. It’s flimsiness may discourage some owners from doing thorough clean-outs since it’s so difficult to move around and manoeuvre. This cage is so close to being great, but it’s construction really lets it down!

Hiya, I need some advice. I am worried about my hamster. His name is addipo and he is a male syrian. I got him in august so he is still fairly young. I am worried because he dosent come out much during the night. He lives in the zoozone2 but ever since I put him in there he has become less and less active..When he was in his old cage (300sq") He was extremly active and would spend all night on his wheel. Now he barley notices his wheel. He looks fine when he is up and running around but he only does this for a few mins then goes back to bed. Is it possible that he dosent enjoy having a lot of room and is overwhelmed? Or something about the cage is bugging him? He dosent appear to have anything wrong with him physically. :)
How long has he been in the Zoozone and do you have enough bedding depth and lots of places to hide? Some Syrian like a crowded cage so they don't feel as expose.
Does his cage have enough bedding and enrichment? I would see if there are ways to add more hides, toys, chews, and things like that - if it's just a big empty space he might be feeling exposed/afraid being out in the open? It sounds like a vet check would be a good idea - just to rule out anything being wrong with him that could be causing a change in behavior. If the cage is set up well and everything else is the same and the vet says he's good, maybe try switching back to his old enclosure for a while and see if he's more active again? You could then try upgrading him to the bigger one again when he's a bit older...
@@negan1445 He has been in the zoozone for 5 months and its got quite a lot of enrichment and things to do. :)
@@azuradawn5683 He has an area with 6" of bedding, a few hides and lots of toys. We are gonna try him in a smaller cage for a bit just to see if anything changes in his behavior. Thanks for your help :)
Wow. Carlos looks almost the size of a Guinea pig. He is such a cutie. I love your setup. Thanks for sharing. Would love to see some cage care/maintenance videos. I know how I cleaned my hamster cage like 20 yrs ago, but always looking for more information for proper care now that more is known about hamsters. Thanks. Take care and be well.

Im pretty sure the minimum is 6 inches for all hamsters

That is a beautiful enclosure and a great set up for Carlos. How often does the bedding need to be cleaned? I’m just learning all the basics.
Spot cleaned weekly, deep cleaned monthly but since this is a lot bigger than 600 sq inches, we can get away with going a month and a week or more, depending on how much bedding you put inside. If it's only 5-6 inches, monthly. 10+ inches i'd say it could almost last 2 months. This is also the largest size, the smaller cages would need to be cleaned monthly or so.

I do not understand manufacturers and why they can’t design an appropriate hamster enclosure rather than a bird cage and call it a hamster cage. I like the niteangel you showed before but they aren’t available, I could even do the bin however I can’t find one big enough, everyone is sold out! Wish I lived closer I would be a foster for hamsters I love them so much and appreciate every video of yours I’ve seen! Until I have the proper enclosure set up I won’t be adding to my little fur family.
I love the look of this cage and appreciate the extra size for the hamster, but it makes me worry that some people may not be diligent enough at checking every corner for cleanliness on a regular basis. It’s flimsiness may discourage some owners from doing thorough clean-outs since it’s so difficult to move around and manoeuvre. This cage is so close to being great, but it’s construction really lets it down!
We need more gerbil friendly cages
