    Thank you very much for your help in learning about this Octa Switch. Due to your opinion of the Octaswitch 2 and 3, I decided on the 3, and am currently setting it up. Keep the info comin, I look forward to it. :)

      Though, I do have a request. I know the series now, but I couldn't find any videos on the actual 'elementary' way of setting up the Octa-switch mk3...ie; how the pedals go inline (send/return) I thought at first they might daisy chain, which I thought could work to save cords maybe..(for I need long cords, which brings me to my next question) Also, I am thinking of having my actual pedals at my side (bending is bad for me currently) and the octa at my feet. Would need at least 40ft to reach my rack where the pedals are or ? Watching Joe Perrys set up gave me the idea of the pedals in the rack instead. Only the pedals I change often at my side. I've seen the 16 channel 1\4 inch snakes...is that my option or might you have a better idea ? Thank you. :)

    I rarely enjoy such equipment reviews but yours was a spot on, mate :) I watched it start to finish in good mood and without getting bored and I know all I wanted to know about OctaSwitch. Needless to say - you deserve more upvotes! :D Also fuzzy socks on stage gave me a chuckle. Cheers, mate!

      Hey, just bought the version 3 Octaswitch, much better than 2 as far as room on your board. Running it exactly as you set yours up in this vid, a BlackStar amp and using effects loop, and a 84 JCM 800. KILLER and VERSATILE switching. Everything from country to full metal. Use the 800 clean cause it sounds killer and use a Friedman OD with it for another cranked channel. Set up 1 switch thru effects loop with chorus and delay. Endless possibilities! Thanks again for all you do!

    just ordered one of these, i like how much simpler it is to program than the boss es-8, and it's a lot cheaper than the gigrig. plus i don't think i'll need more than 8 types of sound for my style of playing, and i can always tailor it to the gig. i'm planning on having 4 of the presets geared more toward my acoustic, and then the other 4 for my electric. thanks for your great review! also, your series on the complexity of the boss kinda influenced my desire to get this one.

    or pointy 80's boots?
    That is quite an expensive pedal, but not a bad as some that are out there.
    I went with the Joyo PXL (waiting for it to arrive) even got it for $152 US, $10 off the price by using the "Make offer" button on Ebay.
    The octaswitch was actually the first looper pedal I saw on a video which got me thinking about getting one of these. Before, I used to use a Peavey Tubefex (rack 32 FX, 7 activated in any order) but both of my tubefex's have given it up (not bad since they were from 1996). Their reduction to "parts" items meant I had to go to pedals or another type of rackmount, but decided to go pedals.
    Thanks again for the overviews Henning, they really do help us make choices.

    That was an AWESOME video and a GREAT way to use the Octa Switch!!!! I just might have to do that with mine. You already have me rethinking how I should rewire mine!!! Thanks!!! What kind of cables do you need to use the amp switching function? I thought someone said TRS cables from the external switches...

    I’ve been searching for ways to use this pedal to control two apps, sometimes one at a time and one time both simultaneously. I figured out a work around by having Chanel one going to an aby that goes to my second amp, and Chanel 2 just has a headphone adapter in the send

    Excellent video. It's helping me wrap my head around all of the possibilities. It's cool that you demonstrated how you can use two different amp with different loops. I do have a question though. Is there a way to use the octaswitch and play through two amps in stereo. Please forgive my ignorance as I am still trying to understand all of the options...I just picked up a used one for $200 USD that is in excellent condition. I know I got a great deal so now I'm trying to make the best out of a great opportunity...thanks in advanced.

    Great video... and I just bought this CM model... but I have an issue with the external link plugged to the amp... it does not switch channel! I have tried to re-solder the cable in all possible ways but no luck. How did it work for you? Was it a straightforward thing to do? OR did you have to bring some changes to the cable? Once again, excellent video!

    Great video, I've spent days watching all your looper vids.
    I'm very interested in the BOSS looper that was announced at NAMM this year. It's not shipping just yet but will be in the next couple months.
    It has 800 presets (just a bit of an overkill if you ask me) but the best function I can see is the ability to change the order of the pedals in your chain for each different patch/preset.
    I'm wondering if you might be getting your hands on one for a demo, they're a bit pricey so I'd love to see one in action before purchasing.
    Cheers!

      It can change the order of the loops? That's crazy!

    What kind of switch do I need?

    If you wanted pedals in the effects loop of your amp, you could use the 4 cable method and route the preamp into say loop 4 or 5, meaning any pedals in loops 6 thru 8 will be after the preamp.

    hey there thanks again for your stuff! Refering to the toppic of Amp- channel switching! at 3:50min: if my Amp has this DIN/MIDI like looking cable at the channelswitch Input and I have to make my own custom cable, can I just build one with a quarter Inch at one and this DIN (?) on the other to go into the amp? Is it that easy? Thankful for advice!

    • @EytschPi42
      @EytschPi42  9 років тому

      Hi, nope... 8 loops ON/OFF does not work.... if you meant hat you can adress each loop individually and switch them just like the pedals on the board... it is always programmed combinations....

    Looks like theres's hope for me to use the combo distortion after all with one of these...Can you change between the channels of that Peavey (in the background) of clean and distortion as if it was a pedal, meaning "down" is "clean" and "up" is "distortion" (for example)... i mean effectively using the channel switch as if it was the distortion pedal of the pedal board...meaning that the amp channel would be in one of the 8 loops I guess... no? I know you probably already have a lot of questions about this, but if there is a lot of people interested in this topic, maybe you can make a video about it....=)
    Also, I would like to know how some other pedals work with that...
    like a wah pedal...probably on the first loop of the circuit I guess.
    or a tap delay pedal
    or something completely different and possibly outside of the octaswitch circuit like a loop station Boss RC 300 to record and shoot the loops from the combinations of the octaswitch and then to play over
    great video =)

    could you specify how you switch the headroom? it's in/out go to the loop on the back of the amp. Is it a switchable loop, serial or parallel? does it matter? Does the quarter inch to control the headroom go from switch 1 on the octa to the footswitch in of the amp? Could you clarify? Thanks for the help

    • @EytschPi42
      @EytschPi42  6 років тому

      The headroom has 2 switch inputs and you use the switch outputs from the Octaswitch to control those... that is all there is

    How many amps can this unit send out to? My current (complicated setup) I have 2 Marshall JCM900 heads on the left that are running in stereo from a MXR stereo chorus for full dirty sound. On the right I run 2 Fender twins where the Boss SuperChorus feeds them for my cleans and overdrives. So, 4 amps in total, but 2 on each side used in stereo. Never do I have all 4 running at once. It's either the 2 Marshalls or the 2 Fender Twins. What say you???

  • @patrickchristofferlarsen9947
    @patrickchristofferlarsen9947 8 років тому

    You say the the Octaswitch is only meant for in putting all of your pedals in front of you amp. What if you want something like 2 or 3 pedals (Say Noisegate, Tubescreamer and/or Compressor), before the amp, and the rest (like reverb, delay, etc) running in the FX loop of the amp, but still be able to change the channels, so you can go from heavy distortion to ambient sounds, etc? What sort of loop pedal would I be looking for then?
    Hope the question makes sense. :)

    • @EytschPi42
      @EytschPi42  8 років тому

      +Patrick Christoffer Larsen It makes sense... you can actually do that with the Octaswitch, you just lose one loop... use one loop to go OUT to the preamp and come back from the FX send... then simply always have that loop on.... so you can use any loop at any place.... but you'll lose that one for pedals.

  • @CarlosCandidoMusic

    Awesome Video!
    I was thinking.. If I always use 2 pedals in succession on my board, in theory, I could patch them together and put them in loop 2 of the looper. Example: TC mini spark booster into the TC Dark Matter distortion into loop 2. That would save a loop spot and allow me to use another pedal somewhere else.
    Am I wrong? Can this be done?
    Thanks for the awesome entertaining vids.
    I just subscribed!

      Evans Zelada use a loops send to amp input, then come back from amp fx send INTO the return of the loop you just came from! You divide the 8 presets into before amp and amp fx loop basically
