I've been fascinated by the counterculture gaining steam, especially in the places (such as Victoria Australia where I live) where the laws are much more authoritarian on this issue... My 16yo daughter (being my kid and all lol), is an excellent example and just one of many kids turning right. Now I always expected she would have a natural aversion to being told what she must say etc, I mean she is my kid, but she's taken it so much further than I thought she'd go. Most interestingly, is her potential chosen career choice and my reaction to it has surprised me. While she's a good student and has always been a good kid, she's become a very devout Christian and we both now attend the Anglican church up the street from our house. Which considering I'm a diehard metalhead, who works in the theatre world, we add an interesting dynamic to the congregation. But I'll admit, I get something out of it too and enjoy going. Even if I have my philosophical differences. Anyways, she's decided that she wants to study in North America and is interested in animal behavioural sciences, particularly in bears, which is cool af and she's wanted to do since she was 10. But she's also made a decision that, what would be most important for her, is to find a suitable husband (she says a good farmer or a tradesman who owns his business is the type of man who could make the cut) and raise a large family. She literally dreams of being a housewife, with a husband who does what a man's gotta do and at least 5 children. Not so long ago, my mind would have been like "you can do so much more with yourself" and yet now... I'm proud of her ability to see, she's a growing up to be healthy, smart and beautiful young woman and what the world needs more than ever right now is good stable families, with strong fathers and capable mothers to have lots of children. She's literally gone the anit-feminist route and yet I think it's the most feminist stance I've ever seen a kid take. When she's weighed up her options for her future, she says the most valuable thing she could be is a good mother and a wife... And looking at the world right now: even I couldn't agree more. But she's a teenager and if I were a preacher, she'd probably be a goth haha 😂. But I am proud of her for seeing her true worth as a woman.
