I've really loved the short raised beds like this. Gets the roots out of any heavy rain/soggy soil but gives the plant a chance to also root in to native soil if they want to!
I'll keep this idea in mind. At the moment I haven't had anyone donate a tree for a video episode. If that changes I'll look into this method to see if it would work for my property.
