This is how adults handle conflict. Talk it out and being empathetic about other people's feeling instead of blaming the other or being toxically defensive. Lots of gamers should learn from this even if you're good in gaming skills it doesn't mean you can make a good use of it if you lack people's skills in team based settings. Thanks Grubby and Payo for being a good model in a community full of children and emotionally stunted adults.
Seeing two people communicate in this healthy of a manner is absolutely unprecedented for me. I feel like I can count on one hand the number of times I've witnessed people talk about a heavily emotionally volatile exchange with nothing but respect and vulnerability. Neither of them wanted to make a subtle jab, they both wanted to respect one another and were looking out for each other but setting their boundaries explicitly. This was like a unicorn of dialogue between 2 people, it's just so refreshing to witness really.
Ignore the silver2silver guy, however idk if you mean in online environment or ur just young that people you hangout with dont talk stuff out. Can be family environment too. Otherwise its really normal that when someone dont like something or dont vibe with someone they just mention it and both of them talk it out. Its not rare occurence to be called unicorn experience at all. Its the norm and how everyone handles situations normally. If u see people doing the opposite, thats the unicorn occurence of people being a manchild
@ i honestly mean in every environment I’ve been in. In work culture there’s weird power and responsibility politics making people fearful and unaccountable, in my family people are spiteful and unwilling to listen and speak out of anger when anything sensitive comes up, in friend groups the boys are just disconnected and have a very blasé attitude with a general “just man up and deal with it” or joking/discarding attitude towards emotionality. My closest friends are very very kind people but even still emotional discussions have almost always gone pretty poorly and people are defensive/kinda disrespectful. So that’s just why this is nice to see, both of them had reasons to be upset but they remained kind and respectful, they listened and then changed based on the boundaries they had to talk about. It just never goes down like that in my *american* life. I also play mostly league/dota and a lot of wow, in general those communities also have a huge tendency to be toxic. I genuinely try to be as positive as I possibly can even in the worst moments but people in those games can be so cruel/volatile regardless.
I think this is a really solid example of how confrontation SUCKS but is absolutely necessary, the vibe after Grubs made his needs known and the conflict was resolved was so much smoother and collaborative. Even in that section where Payo was muted and Grubby and Pops were chatting it made me think about how much opportunity there is for actual connection + conversation with people in call that goes down the drain if someone clogs the comms with overstimulating spam. They got it out of the way, handled it like intelligent adults, and then had a good time afterwards! Take notes, people!
I've been watching Payo for a looong time now. This is just how he is all the time. He's a very unique personality and not everyone's cup of tea. I'm glad they managed to handle this topic like adults and talk it out like mature human beings. This is what keeps the world spinning.

I have 96th percentile enthusiasm and I can act like that when I'm pressed or anxious, but I really perform well under pressure and can lock in. I can empathize, though even I was mentally in line with Grubby at the beginning. Whenever I get criticized with a poor explanation and I don't know why, or people just ask me to tone it down or stop being me, I get really self conscious and have no idea how to move forward. How can I stop being me? So Grubby was a class act here in being able to explain it calmly and slowly and coming to an agreement.
He's constantly talking without actually helding for his words. He can't make a point without irony, because his register of seriousness or any responsibility for his words has atrophied and now all he's doing is post-irony, where he succeeded so much that he himself does not understand whether he is joking or not
This is so wholesome. It's hard to understate how hard it is to do what both of them did here. Grubby had an issue and he had the mental maturity to realize that "I have an issue with this AND it's my issue. While it may be caused by the other person it's still me having an issue" and not project it on the other person. And then raise it in such a diplomatic way. But also huge props to Payo for resisting getting defensive and acknowledging. Reflecting rather than deflecting and solving the issue.

I really like grubby i've been a follower for a long time.... And i appreciate that he tried to leave instead of hurting payo... But both did splendidly in here... Well, he clearly isn't used to this. I think an actually normal conversation would just be "*guy yapping too much*" "Hey, do you mind talking less so I can focus?" "Oh, right of course, my bad". Or along the lines. I just have no idea why there needs to be so much apologizing. It's this embedded "he's attacking me" mentality where you have to walk on eggshells while talking or you risk someone getting mad. Mostly concerning payo here. He did take it well, no issues with the outcome, but the response still felt weird. Is it that hard to understand others wishes? :D That's why I don't think it's "perfectly adult" or mature behaviour. You shouldn't need to keep apologizing to someone for such simple things.

Being told "your dps is low", "you are not good enough" by an experienced player doesn't usually feel good no? Indeed payo was just joking... But if you are not sure it is bound to cause you some distress... Distress equals tilt... Tilt in hardcore equals death... Which isn't a laughing matter at 50+ of lvls... And so payo indeed had to at least clear the doubts and ascertain what he was serious about and what was just jokes (which he did) ... And he went a lvl above it and apologised which is great as he showed grubby his sincerity and that he didn't mean him any form of distress... And that he values him as a content creator and a friend.... If this isn't maturity i don't know what is! So it was more than just talking too much...

It's akin to someone saying "hey could you stop standing on my foot, it's not very comfortable?" And them answering with "Oh my god are you serious? I'm standing on your foot? I'm so very sorry my friend I will never walk near you again so I don't step on your foot oh my". All you need is "Oh, I'm sorry, my bad". I said, to me, it's not an example of PERFECT behaviour. Payo did spell the truth tho, no one in classic love sunken temple, it’s the least liked dungeon so blizzard choose ST as the season of discovery phase 3 raid& completely revamp it . I love both Pago& grubby content, glad they solve it out like a normal human
I've been watching Payo for just a short while, maybe 6 months. His antics and trolling mixed with elite gameplay is incredible, right up my alley. The way you engaged and then handled yourself throughout the entirety of this situation is most impressive. You showed respect to your group first and foremost, incredible. That was top tier, class act, gentleman like behavior.
Hearing Grubby say “its actually in the lair” at the end cracked me up 😂 Payo was the first dude that got me into classic when it first came out with his over the top energy and trolling. Not something I could watch 100% of the time, but still a really entertaining dude. Glad you guys were able to effectively communicate your issue

I was 90% sure Grubby was trolling at the beginning since he likes to troll often. Payo is also really emotional person so i was littlebit worried. It was nice to see that people can still talk like adults and handle situations calmly in the wow scene. ✌️
If you want the "drama" switch to the 9:30 and watch when Grubby starts "losing" it. But it is a slowburn up until that point so it's worth watching it all.

@ I don't disagree yorrrrorrrssarratras, but I have also played it since retail vanilla (and stuck pretty much with vanilla since, as TBC and WoTLK didn't appeal to me). So to me this is content I know about as well as Grubby knows how to farm with a farseer. But I can understand it, if someone ask for the group to concentrate a bit then you do so. There is plenty of time when you are more calm to kid around. And the video even shows this later on. When Grubby became more comfortable he started trolling and kidding around. (which could also have caused drama tbh. Interpersonal relationships are wild, and I can only imagine how wild it gets when each person got 1000's of people looking over their shoulder, potentially worsening any and all interactions.
I just love this. Amazing conflict resolution skills from Grubby, but also Payo in particular, it is really not easy to adjust to feedback like this, not get defensive, not fall into alpha bullshit, etc. I have a lot of respect for this. thank you for modelling this kind of behavior.
In the pirate context, payo’s behavior seems even more important. Voicing your issues like grubby is brave and difficult to do, but it can be equally as hard to hear it and react well
@@asdfkgkspr284 I kinda disagree, to me this situation is fundamentally different. here the conflict is going, and the development of the situation depends on its resolution. the situation in Dire Maul (again, purely in my opinion) was about emotional reaction to something that's already happened, blame shifting. in some sense, and there was no conflict at all. people wanting Pirate to accept responsibility for something they thought was not optimal and/or prosocial behavior (whether it was is open for debate, and I don't entirely disagree with Pirate's perspective).

But I was really impressed with he handled the situation and my opinion of him definitely improved. Adults adulting for once. And I cant really blame Grubby for wanting to take it seriously when there's been soooo many avoidable deaths lately. Yeah, I can see how Grubby might be a little... 'unexciting' for some people, though I'm on the opposite side of the issue from you where I like the more chill side and find super high energy non-stop like Payo's a bit abrasive. I definitely don't think he's a bad entertainer or anything, but just not my preferred style. Like you said though, big respect to both of them for handling the situation so well and not letting it stew into drama.
I think we "stoic" Scandinavian people understand and appreciate the stoicism of Grubby because we're mostly the same.. at least the majority of us. Finnish people often get blamed for being cold and serious etc.
I appreciate both streamers and there’s definitely times I like to watch a high energy streamer like payo and times a little more relaxed streamer like grubby. Although they figured it out I don’t understand grubby’s point of view as much, as I’ve seen him troll and talk just like Payo to other players.
I actually relate a lot to when you bring up how you never know if Payo is serious or not. I have diagnosed AuDHD (not saying you do or anything by the way, just giving context) and I have difficulty deciphering whether or not something is serious or sarcastic. I have a friend who is incredibly high energy and always makes jokes, which has led to a lot of confusion throughout our friendship and can sometimes be extremely overwhelming. Watching you stand up and work to establish a boundary with Payo was honestly really inspiring, as I often struggle to do the same. Especially after all this crazy drama with Pirate and his display of immaturity and sheer lack of empathy it's nice to see an actual civil, reasonable, and healthy discussion, the way genuine mature adults should communicate. I'm so impressed at both of you guys. Grubby for being will to take the risk to share that he is struggling and take ownership of it, and Payo for being able to hear it without getting defensive, and both of them leaning into keeping their relationship at the forefront. Huge wins all around, and it was so rad to see the rest of the dungeon run seeming to go well and get some energy back on Gubby's side.
Watching this back, I get Grubby's reaction a lot more. I didn't think it was unreasonable the first time, but I didn't see much of the build-up. The reconciliation is very wholesome too. Payo acting all cute and gingerly when asking about still playing DotA 2 and such is possibly my favourite part.
I could see for a very earnest person, payo's energy being sufficiently chaotic that it's challenging to concentrate. It's probably helpful to have an intermediary, like savix, who can meet payo where he is and distill/channel it to its most productive form haha
Longtime Grubby fan here. I stopped by Payos stream once or twice but never really stuck to watch properly. He just earned a new follower from me with his mature reaction and conflict handling. Well done both, enjoying the content.
unironically though i couldnt tell if it was grubby who was being serious or not especially when he said he was getting triggered cause ive never heard anyone say that and be serious and often i cant tell if grubby is joking or not but with payo i can always tell. i think its just how people are some people can match the same energy and just somehow understand one another no problem but when i guess two different communication styles (not sure what to call it) meet, there can be confusion but they handle its perfectly tbh. i can definitely relate to how grubby not being able to match the energy though becasue i have a friend who is always trolling like payo does and i have a disassociation disorder and when im like overwhelmed and mentally checking out in real time, i cant match his energy and he can just make me feel worse if i dont communicate to him and let him know i need him to slow down and stuff but he listens and respects it but it makes me feel bad cause i know im asking him to be less of himself to accomodate me but i also am less of myself in those periods where im disassociated and if im too disassociated i just leave to not bring the whole group and vibe down and it works out for the better cause i need alone time to recover. anyways love both grubby and payo! im glad it worked out and we needed something like this to showcase how the guild isnt just a toxic drama content guild

Adhd meets aspergers. Its an opposit of the spectrum where one has alot of energy to express but another cant focus with so much energy around em. I know it all too well as i personally have aspergers. But, its rude of me to neuro-analyse without permission so i try to not assume some disorder without any official diagnosis. But i just find it interesting seeing opposits clash this way and somehow makes it work.
lmao not to put too much stock in adhd and autism whatever but as someone with adhd I do have this type of interaction with friends on the spectrum at time and we just have to take the time to talk it out and make sure everybody is fine and such lol

This was great. I will add one thing I've not read here yet. I love deadpan sarcasm. It's not always easy for others when and if you're being serious or sarcastic in some moments (especially when they don't know you well). I think at the beginning Payo misunderstood your genuine concern for sarcastic banter (which he engages in plenty, but it's a different type of sarcasm, it's bombastic) -- it took a little to realize it was serious. Of course his head was running at a very different level up to here. That moment is actually the most critical (misunderstanding) that can lead to stuff escalating or being resolved. Cool heads usually prevail here, maturity.
I relate to and appreciate Grubby's feelings here. I'm often finding myself avoiding social gaming or competitive situations because I feel that I cannot properly enjoy it without teammates on my intensity or focus level, and I am essentially too worried about ruining the vibes or damaging the relationship to directly address it. This conversation reminded me to continue pushing my comfort with healthy confrontation.
This is a good example of it "is what it is" and deal with it. People in chat saying "right" or "wrong" or whatever. It's a feeling, Grubby managed to express how he felt, and they could continue enjoying the game together. I normally shut down in situations like that, have a shitty time for a while and don't play with them again. I envy this ability to speak your feelings and move on. Good example for so many life situations, for me at least ^^.
I think you did a great thing for Payo. You can't be the first person he's overwhelmed, or who didn't enjoy his negative humor harassing banter. I'm sure there are people who enjoy interacting with others exactly like he does and he gets along great with them, but I think you opened his eyes to reading the room sometimes.
Yeah, he seemed genuinely upset that he might have irritated his friend, and wanted to fix it. He seems like a really good dude who just happens to be a bit too high energy for some.
It's funny right, because many of us will have experienced the exact same experience IRL or on games right... lowkey think Pops was also feeling the same right. And It's awesome that Grubb has the guts to say what he was thinking and work through it. Many of us don't. Can totally relate to not being able to concentrate with people non-stop chatting in voice when you're running a dungeon. Love to chill and have a bit of banter, but sometimes you gotta just focus. Was great to watch you respectfully keep your boundaries, and to see you and Payo work it through to get on the same page.
Pops is such a likeable man! Grubby pointing boundaries is cool, sometimes we players that are very experienced don't respect other people's pace or troll too much cause the game feels too comfortable for us (which is why we die a lot in hardcore, funny). I think the skill I'm most proud of that I developed is adequating my play to different groups; sometimes u have a bunch of sweats and a crazy good shaman healer and just explode stuff with a 2H warrior with windfury, but sometimes u gotta respect the cautious players that have their reasons of being so, take your time, explain the pull and mark targets. Not everyone plays this thing for 10+ years.
"These dungeons are easy" The problem is that 95% of the dungeon is easy faceroll. And then there's one mechanic on one boss, or a certain trash mob or even an event or a room - which makes it randomly deadly. People are afraid of those 5%, not the 95% that you're looking at and saying it's easy. In ST in particular, there are several things: - Texture bugs that make people fall through and die - Last boss banishes the tank and starts walking on the party. People who don't know it are in big trouble - Hole in the main room is deadly, as discussed - people fall into it all the time, and one of the bosses has knockback and can either put you in that hole on in a texture bug like I described. and yes, each of those things is preventable, but some dungeons have 0 such BS mechanics and some dungeons have 5. So people are naturally more nervous.

A lot of Payo's bad behaviour is dismissed as ADHD but he's fully aware of what he's doing and acts dumb. I used to watch him a lot as he's entertaining but realised he's low-key toxic with a lot of his friends. Disregard for their time, passive aggressive remarks to his chat. Most people just avoid him but this was the first time I've seen someone call him out in a rational way. Good to see, hope he matures and learns from this experience

I love how you all were able to work through what was essentially a miscommunication. Payo is a bit intense at times, but props to him for listening to Grubby's constructive criticism and taking it seriously. We love to see the maturity and mutual respect between streamers instead of the negativity, out of control ego, and stubborn displays of doubling down.

I can relate to that Grubby. Payo was talking too frequently and too fast that I wouldn't be able to process everything well and on time especially if it is a new game and I am still learning. It can get overwhelming real fast.
Wtf i tuned in to the stream yesturday and thought the vibes where great. Started watching this and got surprised there was a "fight", continued watching and it turns out i came in after the fight and thats why the vibes where so great.
I am the one out of my group of friends who gets so overstimulated and overwhelmed with too much noise, especially in discord. My friends will have tons of background noise or fully have conversations with people in their house and not mute their mics. I tell them all the time I have to mute them when they do it because I can't focus. It's crazy to me that some people don't adjust individual volume levels. It's one of the first things that I do in a call. Asking someone to stop talking is so touchy. Even someone you are friends with. I think you did a really good job communicating why it was distracting for you, not placing blame, and hearing Payo out. When I ran a guild and had admin roles in our discord, I would just give a verbal warning "You have too much noise coming through." Or "Hey the chatter is distracting" and if it kept up I would mute their account for everybody for a few minutes. Some people got really tilted by it. You and Payo both handled this very well.
i see it as a sign of respect for you as a gamer that payo banters with you like any other wow sweat, but even greater respect for switching that banter off when you expressed discomfort with it. well handled it takes courage to admit that something is triggering you and speaking up about it even moreso in your situation as a streamer
most likely, he would respectfully disengage, and try to not engage with that person again. that is the only way when the person on the other end is not collaborative.

Grubby and Payo playing together? that's something i thought I'd never get to experience. When Grubby initially started playing in the lower levels, I didn't think he would stay interested long enough to stick around for higher levels content.
Next time you're unsure if Payo is trolling or not, just open his stream and look at his face, it's usually a pretty good indicator of weather or not he is trolling at that moment
I watched this live on stream, I totally get both sides. Payo is known to be unserious and trolling, but it can be annoying when unaware. Both sides communicated their problems well and solved it as adults. Would love to see some collabs with Payo in HoTs or DotA after the raid/WoW is done

Also, it's good to know that Payo had just logged into Hardcore for Grubby after a hype Pvp stream, so Payo actually needed someone to tell him
I'm kinda like Grubby with noise and stimulation overload, tho at start I found Payo annoying. It is very impressive how understanding Payo was with it, adjusted and thing went well :)
Hey, I totally understand and I think it was the right decision to say it straight and sort it out. I don't think payo meant anything wrong (I never saw him before), I just think he has that type of humor that is really funny between long friends who know each other's boundaries but can be abrasive with strangers. And it's not his fault and it's not your fault for not vibing with it. In hardcore you made an absolute best decision, because if he was tilting you for any reason - you are both at risk because of that, even if it's just a misunderstanding. And averting that risk early is the best decision, because nobody plays well when they're tilted. And it also averts drama for him, IN CASE you died and people would blame him for annoying you - it could become a massive drama like with Pirate. So it's much better to have a tiny small "drama" even if you went your separate ways from there, than let the problem pile up and explode 20 minutes later. You've made a great mature decision, and he seems to also be a great guy because as soon as he realized you were serious he did everything to apologize. I think he is one of those people who never actually wants to offend someone, it's just that type of humor, as I said.

This is how adults handle conflict. Talk it out and being empathetic about other people's feeling instead of blaming the other or being toxically defensive. Lots of gamers should learn from this even if you're good in gaming skills it doesn't mean you can make a good use of it if you lack people's skills in team based settings. Seeing two people communicate in this healthy of a manner is absolutely unprecedented for me. I feel like I can count on one hand the number of times I've witnessed people talk about a heavily emotionally volatile exchange with nothing but respect and vulnerability. Neither of them wanted to make a subtle jab, they both wanted to respect one another and were looking out for each other but setting their boundaries explicitly. This was like a unicorn of dialogue between 2 people, it's just so refreshing to witness really.

@ i honestly mean in every environment I’ve been in. In work culture there’s weird power and responsibility politics making people fearful and unaccountable, in my family people are spiteful and unwilling to listen and speak out of anger when anything sensitive comes up, in friend groups the boys are just disconnected and have a very blasé attitude with a general “just man up and deal with it” or joking/discarding attitude towards emotionality.
My closest friends are very very kind people but even still emotional discussions have almost always gone pretty poorly and people are defensive/kinda disrespectful. So that’s just why this is nice to see, both of them had reasons to be upset but they remained kind and respectful, they listened and then changed based on the boundaries they had to talk about. It just never goes down like that in my *american* life.
I also play mostly league/dota and a lot of wow, in general those communities also have a huge tendency to be toxic. I genuinely try to be as positive as I possibly can even in the worst moments but people in those games can be so cruel/volatile regardless.
It was so cute seeing Payo actually concerned because he really respects Grubby, I'm glad the party went through

I think this is a really solid example of how confrontation SUCKS but is absolutely necessary, the vibe after Grubs made his needs known and the conflict was resolved was so much smoother and collaborative. Even in that section where Payo was muted and Grubby and Pops were chatting it made me think about how much opportunity there is for actual connection + conversation with people in call that goes down the drain if someone clogs the comms with overstimulating spam. They got it out of the way, handled it like intelligent adults, and then had a good time afterwards! Take notes, people!
I've been watching Payo for a looong time now. This is just how he is all the time. He's a very unique personality and not everyone's cup of tea. I'm glad they managed to handle this topic like adults and talk it out like mature human beings. This is what keeps the world spinning.

I have 96th percentile enthusiasm and I can act like that when I'm pressed or anxious, but I really perform well under pressure and can lock in.
I can empathize, though even I was mentally in line with Grubby at the beginning.
Whenever I get criticized with a poor explanation and I don't know why, or people just ask me to tone it down or stop being me, I get really self conscious and have no idea how to move forward. How can I stop being me?
So Grubby was a class act here in being able to explain it calmly and slowly and coming to an agreement.
He's constantly talking without actually helding for his words. He can't make a point without irony, because his register of seriousness or any responsibility for his words has atrophied and now all he's doing is post-irony, where he succeeded so much that he himself does not understand whether he is joking or not

This is so wholesome. It's hard to understate how hard it is to do what both of them did here.
Grubby had an issue and he had the mental maturity to realize that "I have an issue with this AND it's my issue. While it may be caused by the other person it's still me having an issue" and not project it on the other person. And then raise it in such a diplomatic way. But also huge props to Payo for resisting getting defensive and acknowledging. Reflecting rather than deflecting and solving the issue.

It's this embedded "he's attacking me" mentality where you have to walk on eggshells while talking or you risk someone getting mad.
Mostly concerning payo here. He did take it well, no issues with the outcome, but the response still felt weird. I've been watching Payo for just a short while, maybe 6 months. His antics and trolling mixed with elite gameplay is incredible, right up my alley. The way you engaged and then handled yourself throughout the entirety of this situation is most impressive. You showed respect to your group first and foremost, incredible. That was top tier, class act, gentleman like behavior.
Hearing Grubby say “its actually in the lair” at the end cracked me up 😂 Payo was the first dude that got me into classic when it first came out with his over the top energy and trolling. I don't disagree yorrrrorrrssarratras, but I have also played it since retail vanilla (and stuck pretty much with vanilla since, as TBC and WoTLK didn't appeal to me). So to me this is content I know about as well as Grubby knows how to farm with a farseer.
But I can understand it, if someone ask for the group to concentrate a bit then you do so. There is plenty of time when you are more calm to kid around. And the video even shows this later on. When Grubby became more comfortable he started trolling and kidding around. (which could also have caused drama tbh.
Interpersonal relationships are wild, and I can only imagine how wild it gets when each person got 1000's of people looking over their shoulder, potentially worsening any and all interactions.

In the pirate context, payo’s behavior seems even more important. Voicing your issues like grubby is brave and difficult to do, but it can be equally as hard to hear it and react well
@@asdfkgkspr284 I kinda disagree, to me this situation is fundamentally different. here the conflict is going, and the development of the situation depends on its resolution. the situation in Dire Maul (again, purely in my opinion) was about emotional reaction to something that's already happened, blame shifting. in some sense, and there was no conflict at all. people wanting Pirate to accept responsibility for something they thought was not optimal and/or prosocial behavior (whether it was is open for debate, and I don't entirely disagree with Pirate's perspective).

I actually relate a lot to when you bring up how you never know if Payo is serious or not. I have diagnosed AuDHD (not saying you do or anything by the way, just giving context) and I have difficulty deciphering whether or not something is serious or sarcastic. I have a friend who is incredibly high energy and always makes jokes, which has led to a lot of confusion throughout our friendship and can sometimes be extremely overwhelming. Watching you stand up and work to establish a boundary with Payo was honestly really inspiring, as I often struggle to do the same.
Especially after all this crazy drama with Pirate and his display of immaturity and sheer lack of empathy it's nice to see an actual civil, reasonable, and healthy discussion, the way genuine mature adults should communicate. Cheers to both you and Payo! :)

I'm so impressed at both of you guys. Grubby for being will to take the risk to share that he is struggling and take ownership of it, and Payo for being able to hear it without getting defensive, and both of them leaning into keeping their relationship at the forefront. Huge wins all around, and it was so rad to see the rest of the dungeon run seeming to go well and get some energy back on Gubby's side.

I could see for a very earnest person, payo's energy being sufficiently chaotic that it's challenging to concentrate. It's probably helpful to have an intermediary, like savix, who can meet payo where he is and distill/channel it to its most productive form haha

unironically though i couldnt tell if it was grubby who was being serious or not especially when he said he was getting triggered cause ive never heard anyone say that and be serious and often i cant tell if grubby is joking or not but with payo i can always tell. i think its just how people are some people can match the same energy and just somehow understand one another no problem but when i guess two different communication styles (not sure what to call it) meet, there can be confusion but they handle its perfectly tbh. i can definitely relate to how grubby not being able to match the energy though becasue i have a friend who is always trolling like payo does and i have a disassociation disorder and when im like overwhelmed and mentally checking out in real time, i cant match his energy and he can just make me feel worse if i dont communicate to him and let him know i need him to slow down and stuff but he listens and respects it but it makes me feel bad cause i know im asking him to be less of himself to accomodate me but i also am less of myself in those periods where im disassociated and if im too disassociated i just leave to not bring the whole group and vibe down and it works out for the better cause i need alone time to recover. anyways love both grubby and payo! im glad it worked out and we needed something like this to showcase how the guild isnt just a toxic drama content guild

This was great. I will add one thing I've not read here yet. I love deadpan sarcasm. It's not always easy for others when and if you're being serious or sarcastic in some moments (especially when they don't know you well). I think at the beginning Payo misunderstood your genuine concern for sarcastic banter (which he engages in plenty, but it's a different type of sarcasm, it's bombastic) -- it took a little to realize it was serious. Of course his head was running at a very different level up to here. That moment is actually the most critical (misunderstanding) that can lead to stuff escalating or being resolved. Cool heads usually prevail here, maturity.
I relate to and appreciate Grubby's feelings here. I'm often finding myself avoiding social gaming or competitive situations because I feel that I cannot properly enjoy it without teammates on my intensity or focus level, and I am essentially too worried about ruining the vibes or damaging the relationship to directly address it. This conversation reminded me to continue pushing my comfort with healthy confrontation.
Next time I need to have this conversation I'm def gonna try and use what Grubby said

This is a good example of it "is what it is" and deal with it. People in chat saying "right" or "wrong" or whatever. It's a feeling, Grubby managed to express how he felt, and they could continue enjoying the game together. I normally shut down in situations like that, have a shitty time for a while and don't play with them again. I envy this ability to speak your feelings and move on. Good example for so many life situations, for me at least ^^.
I think you did a great thing for Payo. You can't be the first person he's overwhelmed, or who didn't enjoy his negative humor harassing banter. I'm sure there are people who enjoy interacting with others exactly like he does and he gets along great with them, but I think you opened his eyes to reading the room sometimes.

It's funny right, because many of us will have experienced the exact same experience IRL or on games right... lowkey think Pops was also feeling the same right. Can totally relate to not being able to concentrate with people non-stop chatting in voice when you're running a dungeon. Love to chill and have a bit of banter, but sometimes you gotta just focus. Was great to watch you respectfully keep your boundaries, and to see you and Payo work it through to get on the same page.
Pops is such a likeable man! Grubby pointing boundaries is cool, sometimes we players that are very experienced don't respect other people's pace or troll too much cause the game feels too comfortable for us (which is why we die a lot in hardcore, funny). I think the skill I'm most proud of that I developed is adequating my play to different groups; sometimes u have a bunch of sweats and a crazy good shaman healer and just explode stuff with a 2H warrior with windfury, but sometimes u gotta respect the cautious players that have their reasons of being so, take your time, explain the pull and mark targets. Not everyone plays this thing for 10+ years.
"These dungeons are easy"
The problem is that 95% of the dungeon is easy faceroll. And then there's one mechanic on one boss, or a certain trash mob or even an event or a room - which makes it randomly deadly.
People are afraid of those 5%, not the 95% that you're looking at and saying it's easy.
In ST in particular, there are several things:
- Texture bugs that make people fall through and die
- Last boss banishes the tank and starts walking on the party. People who don't know it are in big trouble
- Hole in the main room is deadly, as discussed - people fall into it all the time, and one of the bosses has knockback and can either put you in that hole on in a texture bug like I described.
and yes, each of those things is preventable, but some dungeons have 0 such BS mechanics and some dungeons have 5. So people are naturally more nervous.
+ mind control, ghosts, actually very large dragon packs, omegaconfusing escape routes... ST is so dangerous lmao

It is pretty chad to request someone to act the way you want them to.
A lot of Payo's bad behaviour is dismissed as ADHD but he's fully aware of what he's doing and acts dumb. I used to watch him a lot as he's entertaining but realised he's low-key toxic with a lot of his friends. Disregard for their time, passive aggressive remarks to his chat. Most people just avoid him but this was the first time I've seen someone call him out in a rational way. Good to see, hope he matures and learns from this experience

You can be self aware about your ADHD behavior but still have a hard time to control it. Pain in the ass.
I also got aspergers and I get into these kind of conflicts alot, mostly people understand if I explain or else they are mostly confused :D

I love how you all were able to work through what was essentially a miscommunication. Payo is a bit intense at times, but props to him for listening to Grubby's constructive criticism and taking it seriously. We love to see the maturity and mutual respect between streamers instead of the negativity, out of control ego, and stubborn displays of doubling down.

I can relate to that Grubby. Payo was talking too frequently and too fast that I wouldn't be able to process everything well and on time especially if it is a new game and I am still learning. It can get overwhelming real fast.

Wtf i tuned in to the stream yesturday and thought the vibes where great.
Started watching this and got surprised there was a "fight", continued watching and it turns out i came in after the fight and thats why the vibes where so great.
I am the one out of my group of friends who gets so overstimulated and overwhelmed with too much noise, especially in discord. My friends will have tons of background noise or fully have conversations with people in their house and not mute their mics. I tell them all the time I have to mute them when they do it because I can't focus. It's crazy to me that some people don't adjust individual volume levels. It's one of the first things that I do in a call. Asking someone to stop talking is so touchy. Even someone you are friends with. I think you did a really good job communicating why it was distracting for you, not placing blame, and hearing Payo out. When I ran a guild and had admin roles in our discord, I would just give a verbal warning "You have too much noise coming through." Or "Hey the chatter is distracting" and if it kept up I would mute their account for everybody for a few minutes. Some people got really tilted by it. You and Payo both handled this very well.
i see it as a sign of respect for you as a gamer that payo banters with you like any other wow sweat, but even greater respect for switching that banter off when you expressed discomfort with it. well handled it takes courage to admit that something is triggering you and speaking up about it even moreso in your situation as a streamer

most likely, he would respectfully disengage, and try to not engage with that person again. that is the only way when the person on the other end is not collaborative.

Grubby and Payo playing together? that's something i thought I'd never get to experience. When Grubby initially started playing in the lower levels, I didn't think he would stay interested long enough to stick around for higher levels content.
Next time you're unsure if Payo is trolling or not, just open his stream and look at his face, it's usually a pretty good indicator of weather or not he is trolling at that moment

I watched this live on stream, I totally get both sides. Payo is known to be unserious and trolling, but it can be annoying when unaware. Both sides communicated their problems well and solved it as adults. Would love to see some collabs with Payo in HoTs or DotA after the raid/WoW is done

Also, it's good to know that Payo had just logged into Hardcore for Grubby after a hype Pvp stream, so Payo actually needed someone to tell him
I'm kinda like Grubby with noise and stimulation overload, tho at start I found Payo annoying. It is very impressive how understanding Payo was with it, adjusted and thing went well :)

Hey, I totally understand and I think it was the right decision to say it straight and sort it out. I don't think payo meant anything wrong (I never saw him before), I just think he has that type of humor that is really funny between long friends who know each other's boundaries but can be abrasive with strangers.
And it's not his fault and it's not your fault for not vibing with it. In hardcore you made an absolute best decision, because if he was tilting you for any reason - you are both at risk because of that, even if it's just a misunderstanding. And averting that risk early is the best decision, because nobody plays well when they're tilted.
And it also averts drama for him, IN CASE you died and people would blame him for annoying you - it could become a massive drama like with Pirate. So it's much better to have a tiny small "drama" even if you went your separate ways from there, than let the problem pile up and explode 20 minutes later.
You've made a great mature decision, and he seems to also be a great guy because as soon as he realized you were serious he did everything to apologize. I think he is one of those people who never actually wants to offend someone, it's just that type of humor, as I said.

Been watching payo for alot of years now and he doesn't act mature for just anyone. He definitely respects you he just is crazy and loud personality.

One had an issue and expressed it, second received it and worked through it. No cowardly running from conflict, no personal attacks, blame accepted on both parts.
The DIFFERENCE between this and others is relationship. They’re not that close, so conflict needs to be handled differently. If they were homeboys then there’s less need for it to be done so formal. But they’re not.
One of those situations where you try to mix oil and water and the results are about what you should have expected, lol.
