OOOOPS, it looks like I accidentally hit the screen and it locked focused on the background and not on me. That's my human error.
It’s focused on your hands dad
"This photo is not in focus..." Meanwhile this mans camera has been out of focus the whole video.
Waited until photo 196 to hear Jared say “this is good” on my photo. The suspense was worth it.
@@timelesscreations777 that’s fair but I like his stuff and his honesty.
@@dejectedsoup9181 me too..
I'm a fan.. don't get me wrong...and I loved your picture!!
You need Jared Polin to say your photo is good? That means something to you? You should know whether your own photos are good or not. That goes with everything you do in life. You should know it with surety before anyone opines on it. 😁👍
Me: wanting to see some critique.
Jared: OOOOOO look what skittles does!
It's a common theme....
Damn those commercials are getting longer…
What a BS right? Skittles
7:41 thanks Jared for “loving” my photo from Brazil. And FYI, on the top of the mountain is called Christ the Redeemer statue. =)
Fotão mano !
Foto incrível, parabéns mano
that was a great shot. well done.
Id be soooo tempted to just photoshop away the antenna towers there.
Parabéns pela foto
The siluette of the kid or man was so good!!! And I loved the depth of the photo.
My photo was the kid eating the apple, my daughter actually. It was great to see it in your video.
It’s a beautiful photo! I quite liked it :)
"it looks over processed to me" says the guy who pushes his Skittles preset
You got to remember he's a UA-camr. Not a pro photographer
@@timelesscreations777 good point.
At best a UA-camr who snaps "decent" photos from what we've seen, yet nothing I've seen that qualifies him to critique other photographers.
@@artsilva I'd have to say his concert photography is pretty damn good.
@@MannsWoodlandPerspective being an ex concert photographer myself for major concert promoters and venues dating back deep long into the film days I will respond with a simple unsolicited critique on that with the word "Standard".
Now days with modern camera tech, ANYONE can shoot "damn good" concert photography. Yes he has control and composing skills, but so does anyone with a little practice in the genre because half the work now is done for you in exposure and focusing. All you have to do is set your parameters and compose in the right moment.
@@artsilva so what would take it to the next level?
If you think he's not good enough to CC others, we'll I don't think you've seen what the photography world is now days with the average person.
I'm not a fan of any of JPs attempts of wildlife photography, which I think I'm better at, but I'm not going to put myself on some high top throne and tell people he can't give some 7 second feedback. Doing so sounds extra gatekeeper and a bit weird personality trait.
And about the original skittles comment, of course he is. It's like watching a sports cast for entertainment and being upset they are promoting a widget 🤔
38:01 Thanks for the 5 stars on my water skiing picture, Jared! I was shocked at how easily you could spot the crop; especially since it was only a 3MP difference (24 MP to 21MP). I will work on filling the frame naturally in the future! Looking forward to part 2.
He probably noticed it was cropped based on how LR zooms with a full image vs. a cropped image. The cropped images do not zoom as far @ 100% setting in Light Room after it is cropped. I notice the same zoom behavior on my own images after it is cropped. I think your photo is perfect as-is, crop and all. I think it is good practice to "crop" as you take the shot so you don't have to shave off precious pixels in post, but I don't really mind if it is cropped either way. Great shot, by the way.
Jared, watching your critiques for the first time. So much fun! ! Like a photo party, yes photo party, with you as the host. Love to see what people shoot, the critiques, and on the fly fixes. You are the best.
jared sound effects for bear photos are just doing it for me, laughter wise.
30:43 For me it's the Jared's horse reaction hahahahahahha
Man, that's the best motivation I've ever heard, "If you wanna take a shot, take it!"
Oooo wow, a lot of awesome and different photos! Love hearing your insight on how these could’ve been better as well! 💯✔️🔥
45:11 Jared looking at my peacock photo for 5 seconds is now the highlight of my life.
Hi Jared!
I like the concept of these videos and the overall idea is very interesting and informative. But just to give you some critique from a viewer perspective: Instead of collecting so many photos from people and give them your first thoughts, it would be more interesting and informative to both the audience and the person behind the photo to hear a more in depth critique from you. And I think that is why we want to see these videos in the first place. As you said in the beginning of this video, we want more thoughts on our creations than just a "nicely done" from our friends and family. So my advice to you would be to select maybe 10-20 photos (at random) and give them your true thoughts on colors, perspective, composition etcetera. Obviously you won't be able to critique as many photos, but your input will be much more appreciated and valuable. And maybe these videos will get more viewers overall because of it.
Keep up the good work and we really appreciate your dedication to help us!
This is basically a fro pack commercial…
glad you do these, very informative. You are very strong and transparent about your ;prefs which helps put things in perspective when you make an edit I don't se the need for. :)
Enjoy your critiques of pics. It's a good learning tool. Please keep it up. BTW, the statue in the early pic is Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro. If you ever go to Rio, you have to go to the top of Corcovado mountain and see it up close, then visit Ipanema beach. Both provide tremendous inspiration for photographers.
Almost an hour of this man saying "yea its alright" was actually quite nice lol.
Thank you, for the "It's fine" rating, @Jared Polin! Appreciate you taking the time. :) And really great constructive feedback on all.
I've never been more happy with a "huh". Thanks for the glance, Jared! 41:44
Lol your is awesome. Be happy it's not mine😂
39:48
@@TheAustinHewlettOfficial I'm noticing now that he started everyone's critique with a "uhhhh". We are now brothers forever haha.
Thanks Jared for liking my photo of the Ladybird (I'm a Brit..) on a leaf. Minor point: the leaf and the insect were not in shade, the back ground was a pool of light which the twig and leaves with the insect were in, making them quite brightly lit against a shady background. That said, I like what you did with it.
Thanks Jared for including my photo and giving feedback on the Bull and Cow Buffalo I captured in Yellowstone at 46:07. The photo was not croped, but captured on my S21 Ultra at 30.60mm.
I know I have a lot better shots from my R5 and can't wait for your next critiquing video.
Thanks for inspiring me.
Jared I really enjoyed this and I'm glad you split it up also. It was interesting to see what you did with the processing and how you saw it and the longer I watch the more it made sense. I could see you doing this for holiday seasons and different things just a breakup for a different segment. Enjoyed it thank you.
*@**12:59** I thought it was Tony Northrup submitting an Osprey photo LMFAO!!*
Jared, I can safely say that you’ve never done anything that I didn’t watch all the way through and really learned and enjoyed. These are great to me because they show so much of what other artists are doing. So please show more!!!!!
Genuinely loved this, to see different styles, how you view work outside of your own, and your take on it.
33:26 thank you for your kind words Jared. I'm working on upgrading my basic camera soon.
I loved the little train of thought from "I like pole vaulter women". I like that you keep it honest.
So happy to see my bear in the tree 😊
Jared, I think your monitor must be set to maximum brightness or something. You made a lot of these darker than they should be.
10-20 mm is a DX f4 lens
Used on a full frame Z6 on that image you had
14:40 Thanks for liking my photo!! 😊
30:45 Best Reaction EVER!
the "Ducky" is a Common Loon. Look it up because that is how their heads actually look. the have very smooth heads, not to mention the rest of their body, because they are a diving duck. They are very hydrodynamic.
10:29 It was a 70-200 VRii, not sure why LR keeps IDing my copy of the lens wrong.
And it's rain, not snow 😜
Not that it matters.
It's so cool seeing everyone's submissions. Seeing all the walks of life in photography.
Edit: Who submitted the Kinzua Bridge Photo?
Love these segments Jared. The variety of pictures and enjoy your McCritiquerson, didn’t catch you asking for pics this time so missed out, but I’ll be signing up for text alert for the next one
I can not possibly thank you enough for the feedback. I really appreciate you taking the time to give me a s photographs some great insights to improve our work.
4:22 omg its Mr. Mackey
jared proceeds to edit people's photos making them worse.. way to go
When it got to the turtle at 28:02, I couldn't help remembering the scene of George Costanza frantically yelling, "I was in the pool! I was in the pool!"
I guess the horse was in the pool, too.
35:42 I'm so happy you looked at my photo, I learned all of photo basics watching your videos glad you liked it. I try to aim for the eyes and with the R it's really easy (kinda when the lense want to cooperate with me haha)
I love when you do these type of videos! Great work
A follow up to your comment about the focusing on the Nikon Z6ii; I photographed two weddings over seven days (that’s over 3400 pictures) using native glass 85 1.8 or 24-70 2.8, and only about 15 images were out of focus. It comes down to training and technique IMHO.
Eh. Idk which is worse, the flat before or overdone after version in some cases. Especially that town after sunset.
Thanks for the 30 seconds! 29.05 - 29.35. Loon and chick shot handheld from my kayak on local NH lake. Yes cropped. First time using the RF 800mm great lens for the price.
Great shot. Shame Jared doesn't know that is how they look.
I enjoyed the critiques.I would say that you were milder or more open minded than I would have been.
Imagine submitting your photo and just getting this as your feedback @23:32 🤣
25:00 HE SAID MY PHOTO WAAS FINE!! WE DID IT GUYSSS!!
So you've gone from loving black and white to "skittles can do it"
Very Cool!!! Can't wait to see round two!
You can only like if by the time you see this Instagram is still down
Actually everythink from Facebook is down (Instagram, Facebook, Whatsapp....)
Worldwide outage hmm 🤔
I really feel like I wanna eat some skittles now ☺ 😂
I almost died in my chair today, I was showing my wife the photos I had captured earlier in the day when she suddenly asked me if I tried blasted Skittles
on one of them. I am certainly going to be scarred for life over this pesky memory thank you Jared. I think this alone deserved me on of your Canon full frame
camera's you are donating to the youth of America. I am old and decrepit, my eyes are failing me, I have to convert to wearing shades on my 3x glasses cause
I can see anything, my stupid M3 doesn't have a viewfinder and I can't see the VGA micro screen. I pray and spray every auto because I cant see if it is in focus.
Certainly if one of those golden boxes is a full frame for the near blind LOL anyways moving on oh yes and a lens LOL anything : )
Thanks for the feed back Jared. I did an edit to the image (40:01) to not look so selective colorish. Looks much better. Love these videos by the way. Keep doing them please.
Your critiquing cracks me up. I critique the same way lol. Reading the comments cracks me up even more. So many people mad lol
Sooo... What I'm getting from this video is that Nikon shooters take the best photos! Like, damn!
Thanks for these, I hope I hear about it to send one in the next time. Always been a fan. I appreciate the work you put in to share the knowledge you have, and I'm a sarcastic ass so I like your style too :)
25:55 Andy Frasco and The U.N. June 22 2021 The PIAZZA Aurora Illinois Passed the bottle across the pit to a guy and then crowd surfed too it and drank while riding back. Stood up on a stool I placed earlier to get above the crowd. (A7R3 Sigma 14-24 2.8) 24mm 1/160th f/4 iso5000
Thank you for the comments on my photo of the owl with a mouse in its mouth 😁
20:38 was mine 🙂 thanks for the feedback
So happy to see you viewed my photo, always improving my skills
Don't know if Jared was more shocked with the roaches or the fact they took it on an Olympus.
Something funny about focus. In the video I'm watching on a 32" 4k HD monitor and the focus, when whoever did the cutaway to show your face, the focus was on your watch and arm, not on your face. your face is actually blurry lol.
I love these instant critiques...brilliant! Let’s have more please!!
You could do a Weekly or Fortnightly review series of such of 100 or 200 in one session, pick the best you like in each and at the end of the month you could have a winner of the month or something like that
22:29 Its from the Museum of Glass in Tacoma Washington.
Yes using another way to inform us is great, the post on facebook did not show up on my timeline tell 2 days after which sucked.
Thanks for the review on my photo and all of these photos Jared. Really enjoy this video. - Anthony Timpe
Shouts to the single Fuji shooter in the sea of Canon and Sony. Represent!
man there is talent on the street
Your focus was off for a large part of the video. Not like you to miss that sort of thing Jared.
I love these video critiques, just wonderful.
14:13 I honestly thought the trees looked very nice. It gave it a chilly / spooky vibe and really set the scene and gave you more background. Everyone has their own preference with photography style and it does look nice when you zoom in on the mosque… but it loses the warmth and farmiliarity without the branches and just turns into architecture.
I’m bummed I missed this. I just got into shooting in 2020 and would love to have submitted an image.
25:55 Jared polin glimpses his alternate timeline
21:40 totally agree. The scene feels like it should be darker, and the lights brighter, like pure white. That's how it looks in real life. Hate that HDR low white-point look
39:48 Glad to have some real feedback and not just my friends and fam saying "Owmegawsh that's amazing"😂😂😂
I'm glad you liked my photo Jared. Second to last one of the Oregon coast.
nonone:
Jared making video: Jared's edit gets five stars!!!
😂 helpful video thank you
z6II Hahahhahahha i laughed so hard about that focus.
Lmfao the comment on the coffee photo kills me. Great critique and I love how you weren’t harsh at all on any of these even though some certainly could be harshly critiqued.
The 10-20 is Sigma’s crop sensor wide-angle. A famed lens for the price.
Hey Jared, I am curious where these were uploaded and how to get information of the next video. Got a few composites that I might look at. See which one is the best to submit. Thx if you hear this! If it’s in the description, then by all means, just lemme know I’m being blind. Thanks again!
He posted a story on his Instagram with a link for the upload. I unfortunately missed the upload window because I was asleep. But that's where you want to look next time.
Interesting to watch, although I haven't submitted anything. Great job, Jared!
That was not a bufalo.
Hi Jared, where can we see when you ask for photos in order to do this kind of video? Because I've never seen any message and I would be happy to participate for next call ^^
Leaving comment for notification, where I can find when I can praticipate. 😅
Looks like he posted on Twitter with a link to send photo and a deadline…
we rarely see jared out of focus like that, i'm impressed :p
Enjoyed this 👍
45:37 The only better camera I have is the Canon eos 4000d.
Also this made my day that u saw it!!!
When you're doing landscapes you want everything in focus usually.
Good job, I like the kind way you comment. Thumbs up 👍🏻
lol, we get so used to looking at the flat raw files we're afraid to increase the contrast.
I'm not. Maybe that's why my photo didn't get in this even though I sent it to him right after the text went out.
3:40 Fro saying "what I would do" and then cropping the image! 🙄😯😯
I like pole vaulter women... I mean, I like women... athletic women... uhhhm... yeah it's very good.
For some of the photos it could be that some people didn't change the date/time setting in their cameras.
Ooops, I missed that, when the next submission will be?
Thank you for selecting one of my photos and my apologies for sending more than one LOL
Always fun, quick reactions to lots of photos. PS why is the focus off in this video?? seems to be just in front of you.. You stopped using shooting on NIkon Z and use Canon R now right?
the photo with the baseball stadium is Detroit.
47:10 i got a 5 star rating :D totally worth the wait!
