Those blocks on the frame are the BVS; rotate them 90° to make the pack comfortable with a plate carrier on (one of the best features of any pack, and i think unique to MR), or wear them the other way as a normal backpack. You'll know if you have them on wrong lol. Another really useful bit of gear they make is the "cinch", which let's you reroute the shoulder pads of a pack down the front of your body armor to keep the straps from digging into your armpits endlessly
Thanks for the video. I just got one, too.
I’ve been waiting for a video like this for a long time!
Glad you liked it! Thanks for the love.
Damn these packs are dreamy, love Mystery Ranch gear, been carrying a Urban Assault 21 in coyote daily for years. One of these days I'll convince the wife to let me spend 1k on a rucksack :) I dig the 3 exterior pockets, heavy Alice pack influence there, which is one of my all time favourite rucks if you modernize it with a Tactical Tailor frame straps etc.
Keep killin it brother
Great job Ethan!
Excelente!
Thanks for the video, very informative in terms of giving a solid idea for what that ruck will hold. This just solidified my desire to buy this as my next pack. I bought the Eberlestock Skycrane last year for field problems, but found it to be lacking in space for all the gear my Battalion likes to make us take out, and i keep finding myself reverting to the large ruck. Which is unfortunate.
If you don’t get another Eberlestock pack, I’d also consider trying out the Mystery Ranch 6500, their recce sustainment ruck. It technically has more cubic inches than the black Jack 100.
I understand the need for space, that’s what made me get this pack.
Glad this video was useful to you!
The weight is more in your hips when you tighten the load lifters (straps above the shoulder straps), not the other way around.
Have you rucked before?
@@regulardefense I'm in fact correct in my claim, look into it or talk to any professional rucker (for example Dana Gleason, the innovator who founded & owns Mystery Ranch, he may return your email). To test this you could simply load up your large pack, heavily loosen the shoulder traps and load lifters, don the pack & fasten the hip belt around your hip bone very tightly, then tighten the shoulder straps but only to the point where the pack isn't wildly hanging off your back, then tighten the load lifters to see what they actually do, you'll find out right then and there. To answer your pointless question, I've been rucking up and down mountains using all kinds of USGI rucks for years, also while on a bicycle. 99+% of this is to get essential goods like grocery loads as I choose to forsake car payments & the like.
@@johnjones5932 I appreciate how thorough your comment is, can’t tell if you’re trolling or not.
I made this video based on my experience as an infantryman rucking with everything from 35lbs to 100lbs+, on movements ranging from 6 miles to 20 miles+, I don’t know what kind of load lifter straps you use on your packs, but every time I’ve tightened my shoulder and load lifter straps it has taken the weight away from my hips and distributed it onto my shoulders/back.
On longer movements I’m constantly adjusting these straps to keep from hotspots and muscular burnout.
@@regulardefense This may mean your pack is not sized properly, it also may mean you're not wearing it properly, it also may mean it's not set up/designed properly, it also may have something to do with body armor.
@@regulardefense You should keep in mind that this effect may simply be caused by having your shoulder straps tight & your shoulders loaded beforehand. It's why your shoulder straps have got to be relatively loose & your hip belt has got to be tight so that pulling the load lifters gives the intended effect.
Thanks for the review! Now we just need Mystery Ranch to keep it in stock long enough for me to buy one. Lol
Appreciate the feedback!!
They sell like hot cakes! But there’s a reason why they’re so popular.
@@regulardefense I'm gonna buy huge bags too about 10 years from now because I'm boutta save up
Great video man, what are those boots though?
Boots are the Rocky S2V’s
Use them for everything.
Hey man, just wanted to clarify the bvs (side bolsters) are actually made specifically for use with a plate carrier. If adjusted right should help with everything sitting flat.
I’ll need to look into adjusting those pads. I just wonder if it’ll fit my large IOTV. The plates are pretty wide and anytime I wear them together it always sits incredibly awkward on my back.
Question about the part where the bag hangs on the NICE Frame @11:47...is there a pass thru behind that Mystery Ranch Label? If I was to use a Hunting Guidelight MT frame, will the Loadlifter pass thru that part behind the Mystery Ranch label ? Thanks
There isn’t a pass through on this pack, but they do make Hunting packs that have room.
I also bought the load lifter for training and will be doing an overview video on it.
Apologies for the late reply
@regulardefense no worries. I was just curious IF I could use my Guidelight MT frame if I was to happen to find, a Blackjack Bag-only. MR confirmed that they do not sell Bag-only Blackjacks.
Blackjack 50/SPEAR ASSAULT is my Unicorn-Mystery Ranch currently. Just for Collection Purposes. I already have a 3DAP and SATL. Along with Pintler, Sawtooth 45 and Glacier 65.
Thanks

SACK REVIEW!
Peach scented CLP….MA DEUCE, SMELLS NIIICE….🤔
Your nco didn't teach you to field strip your mres. You'll be able to fit twice as many in the same space
Astute observation.
Good thing this pack out was merely for frame of reference.
