This game would require a MASSIVE overhaul to bring it into the modern times. The UI, the controls, all of that. "I" feel it's worth it. But I understand why they won't. Dune is such an underrated story. The books, the movies, the series, the game. All wonderfully done. Mr. Herbert? You brought something wonderful into this world with your imagination, it's truly a shame you're not with us anymore.
Check out OpenRA, a fanmade rebuild project of the Red Alert engine. You can play Dune 2000 with it (with all the art, music, etc installed from your actual Dune 2000 CD), but the UI is a lot more like that of Red Alert 2 and the likes, and it's fully customisable, with modern display resolution support, choice of Left / Right / Left+Right unit selection and orders, and such.

Actually you *don't* understand why they won't do it. Both C&C and RA got their remasters, Dune 2k won't, because EA doesn't own the license to the game, nor the license to the film that was used to make the game. EA isn't likely to get that license either.

Yeah no, I'm fully aware of the nightmare it would be for them to even attempt to get the license to make another game based on Dune. Considering they only ever had the license to make it through the movies, and not the source material. Coupled with the fact the Herbert estate has stated they have no desire to bring this stuff back. (But are ok with a board game.)
Devastators were good, but they paled in comparison to their Dune 2 variants. In Dune 2000, a solo devastator was an easy target, and often traded unfavorably. But if you could level them up, which made them gain regeneration and increased rate of fire, they became superb.
The raider is a special version of the trike that can only be produced by House Ordos. A trike is the three wheeled, lightly armored motorcycle you describe. In vanilla, raiders where just faster and had a faster rate of fire compared to normal trikes, in exchange for some armor value. But in a later patch they gained stealth, which made them invisible when not fighting / near an enemy infantry unit.
I know this is kinda late but, they are useful for doing exactly what their name implies: Raiding. Scout around the enemy base to find their main spice veins, flank with invisible raiders and disrupt their harvesters, retreat the moment they send reinforcements. Then go on the offensive so they are forced to send their troops back to the front. Hence and repeat.
@@windwalkerrangerdm Actually, Raiders are superior in speed, armor, and firepower than Trikes. In the old Dune 2, Raiders were quicker, but less armored than Trikes and had less firepower too. The Dune 2000 Raider is better than a Trike in every aspect. Its drawbacks are that it is more expensive, and cannot be ordered from a Starport.
This game took so much time out of my life... I better read some books and the Bible to get wiser it did not helped me with nothing only made me unrespectful towards my parrents.

Game wasn't done by herbert .... Westwood was giving full control of the storytelling ... and was required to not use the story it's self ...
