Wow, thank you so much! You got it. Don't forget to check out the Lebanese recipes on my website: feelgoodfoodie.net/recipe/category/type/lebanese-inspired/
I made your recipe and did a hybrid of slightly frying & oven in a cast iron pan with grape seed oil and then adding the garlic/red pepper/cilantro sautéed in olive oil to finish them off & they were the bestest ever! So thank you for your inspiration! Love your recipes!
I'm dating a Lebanese person I'm a black African lady from zambia so I started following you so I can prepare food for him he gets surprise how I cook all thanks to you
I tried this at a restaurant and thought it was absolutely delicious. I went home, looked up this recipe and it was just as good. I think I will be making this probably every week. Thanks for posting.
Very nice dish as you again prove Middle East cooking is so delicious and easy as cooking with a few ingredients can create such flavor magic. Thanks again
Yes! Most people will prepare this dish by double frying the potatoes: basically, you’ll deep fry the potatoes first alone without any seasoning or sauce. And then shallow fry with olive oil, pepper, garlic and cilantro. A second popular method is to boil the potatoes for 10 minutes to lightly parboil them and then shallow fry the potatoes with the fragrant sauce. This reduces some of the fat and calories from deep frying them.
I made these n Wow soo Good! Will def make them again!!💯💜-I love watching you with recipes, cause You show Step by Step n Slow enough to understand!! 💯
I made these with baby potatoes and sweet potatoes. It was very flavourful. I don't have an oven so I half boiled the potatoes and then deep fried the potatoes.
@AMiles1009 ohhh you're one of those people that just can't shake the soap taste of cilantro. Idk why but I've never tasted that when eating cilantro. I get it tho. All taste buds are different
I have never tried the batata harra although my mom always makes it idk how to feel about but honestly yours look so yummy so I might be trying them 😋 😍 plus my mom doesn't use any spicy stuff on it😕
Guessing Batata means potato. Someone below said it is Hindi for potato which is cool. In Latin Caribbean we call sweet potato "batata" which just reinforces how much we all share in common. That said I am not a big fan of spicy so I would prob lower the heat with maybe smoked paprika or cumin or even adobo. I would think any kind of spice would work. Everything else about the recipe is grand.
Store any leftovers in an airtight container. They will last about 5 days in the fridge. To reheat, just place in the oven at 350°F for 5-7 minutes or in a toaster oven. You can also reheat in the microwave, but the potatoes won’t retain a crispy texture that way!
I’m Jordanian and from Stl. And my family and all the places around here don’t have cilantro in the recipe and the potatoes are slightly mashed to make it more of a paste to eat with bread. But i don’t mind this take. Will have to ask my Lebanese uncle if he likes it with cilantro.
Looking for Lebanese layered ground beef, cracked wheat, thin potatoes, cinnamon, baked. I think it’s called kibble, can’t find one with thin potatoes in center of meat when baked.
Wow I wished I watched this like an hour ago lol. I definitely burned my garlic and was rushing too fast with the sauce 😞 next time I will try your method.
I came from Lisa's vid! I'm only using 2 potatoes, do I still use the same amount of spices and how many degrees for just 2 potatoes? Sorry if my English is bad 😰
Hi! If you go to this Lebanese Spicy Potatoes recipe on my website, in the recipe card at the bottom, you can adjust the servings toggle to make 2 instead of 8 servings. This will change the amounts of the other ingredients to fit 2 potatoes.

Namaste 🙏🏼 from India.
I'm off to look for a batata harra recipe!
Batata is potato in some Indian languages, too!
I really miss all lebanese food
Exactly why I love making it at home so often!
Made this today without cilantro. Delicious
It isn't"this" without one of the most important ingredients added.
@ivotenotocensorship5247 it'd taste like soap if I kept it. Other than that, I used this recipe. So it is
@AMiles1009 ohhh you're one of those people that just can't shake the soap taste of cilantro. Idk why but I've never tasted that when eating cilantro. I get it tho. All taste buds are different

Welcome!!
A very American version of the original, especially the way you put the sauce on the potatoes. This technique shows you were born in America. 🇺🇸
In Lebanon 🇱🇧 they would put the batatas into the pan. ❤❤❤❤❤
Hi! You're so good 🌈💜✨
Aww, thank you!
Can we use any potatoes here? Thx..
Just curious… y u said peel skin of russet? Is it thicker than other potatoes..
Thx🥰

In Portuguese we say batata also, in Spanish is patata. Smoked paprika should be great.
You can use the same spice mix in chicken or rice. Usually I use black pepper or cyan instead of red pepper flakes.
I only have parsley in my fridge do you think I can use that instead of cilantro 😬
How much Olive Oil did you put
How long can you store them in the fridge if I make it in advance and is it okay to warm up in the microwave
Store any leftovers in an airtight container. They will last about 5 days in the fridge. To reheat, just place in the oven at 350°F for 5-7 minutes or in a toaster oven. You can also reheat in the microwave, but the potatoes won’t retain a crispy texture that way!
