    Hey friends, LG phone dacs recognizes the impedance of whatever you plug into it and automatically goes into "normal audio device"(below 50oms)
    "External Audio device"
    "High impedance device"(50-600ohms)

    Love how you’re the first reviewer to compare the LG V series which are great options as a dedicated DAP. The only things you didn’t really mention was that the Sony ZX707 has a volume limit affecting it’s sound signature if purchased in North America or Europe. Also that the LG V30 (V series phones in general) has a quad DAC that isn’t activated unless you use headphones that are 50 ohms and above. One way to trick it is use a pair of headphones with a detachable cable. Plug the 3.5mm in first tricking the device into thinking it’s connected to an Aux port and giving you the full rich sound that it’s capable of. Give it a shot if you haven’t already.

      @@manuelhernandez6801 You're just getting more power. IIRC, 25% more power through aux, and 50% more power with a high impedance device. j.t.cooper2963's 16 ohm headphones should be getting enough power at 'normal'. You can also trick it if your cable connects to the earphone/headphone itself, by simply leaving not connecting them until after you've plugged in the 3.5 cable.

    You made a mistake when you said today's generation values the features and value of a device. They do not, they only value brand. If Apple released this device, they would be breaking their necks to get it for twice what Sony is asking for it.

  • @ZephonWing
    @ZephonWing 8 місяців тому +5

    I have to question... How is it a fair comparison when the Sony's 4.4 balanced output is not even talked about?
    The ONE major difference between the two devices being featured here is the Sony's 4.4 BAL output, which offers greater dynamics, punch, and extension. (And, the 3.5 SE on most Sony DAPs are known to be "soft" but "smooth" comparing to its 4.4 BAL output, which I assume you're not using.)
    Granted, if one doesn't own an audiophile-grade IEM to take advantage of the 4.4 BAL output, one would be better off going for the LG with consumer-grade earphones, but know that most of which won't be able to demonstrate a DAP' true capabilities.

  • @TheMrgonzalo05
    @TheMrgonzalo05 Рік тому +5

    What version of the ZX707 did you use? The JP version is uncapped and offers more dynamics. Also, did you try the balance output? That's where this thing really shines.

    I have been using the FiiO X1 2nd gen. for a while now; got it because the DAC sounds good and it was really not that expensive.
    Things I would be looking for in a new DAP would be:
    - use of standard AAA or AA sized batteries, not a glued-in LiPo battery that bricks the device once the battery dies. I don't care if it weighs 200g more as a result (this feature of standard swappable batteries is getting rare, and it also rules out _current_ smartphones)
    - ability to play back audio files held in a folder structure on a user-swappable micro-SD card (most can, but not all), I don't care for any built-in "song library" management system
    - analogue headphone output jack
    - a good DAC and output amplifier that can drive low sensitivity high impedance headphones (DAPs usually fall short on the ability to drive high impedance headphones; I'm not looking for high output _power_ , but high output _voltage_ )
    I _could_ use a separate headphone amp to cover the last two requirements, but by then I might as well put my Marantz HD-DAC1 next to my bed and not bother with the DAP 😉

    • @ruekurei88
      @ruekurei88 Рік тому +3

      LG V20 and LG V10 have a removeable battery iirc. Should be the same quad dac as the V30. Not sure you'll find a DAP with removeable batteries these days, not high quality ones that can drive high impedance headphones at least.

    1.Congratulations on Fosi picking up your review.
    2. At that price Sony should include their special audio tech.
    3. A great PreAmp circuit and an average amp circuit can make a good device.
    4. DAPs are just bubblegum for the mind while one is away from more serious listening options.
    4. Theory of Operation: this is a technical description music is recorded today through multiple microphones & digital interfaces typically immortalized in a digital format.
    5. HIFI has a goal to take those vibrations picked up by the microphones and reverse that previous process in a life like manner( this is what most audiophiles enjoy) DAPs Headphones are mostly a stop gap until you can get back to the thing that almost mimics the actual live performance.
    ( For some the audiophile path is an overcomplication to just hear the music)
    It takes a lot of work to access those micro-details in a top notch recording of a great performance that has to be paid for in time & energy or just raw cash sometimes both.

    Hello Nice video - liked and subbed. With that said I wish you would of compared the Sony phone Xperia 1V vs ZX707 (if you must compare a phone to a dap) The Sony has many extra audio functions / filters over phones (even over the Sony 1 V). With the price of the sony phone over $1000 I would expeect the sound to be same. The ZX707 power is reduced in US, UK and other countries. I wish you would of mentioned that as its kinda like comparing a Scooter with speed restriction to a Corvette. Anyway nice video I want to watch more of your videos and I agree about the expereince of the "unboxing". Sony has went green (and kinda boring) with sugarcane and bamboo in the recycled packing.

    The great thing about manufacturers removing their headphone sockets is we can now choose from hundreds of dongle dacs. Sony is hardly the leading edge in portable audio anymore. There are many other options from China Shanlin, Fiio and at least a dozen more brands and Korea (Astell & Kern, formerly iRiver). When I was in the market for a new phone last November LG wasn't even available anymore so I went for a Google Pixel and got a iBasso DC04 Pro dongle.
