I love that the cats have to investigate what is going on all the time...
Never too far away!!
That second picture looks tremendous with the green frame. Wasn't sure about it, but after painting it looks fab😊
I found the artist by googling and matching the signature. Franklin Chenault Watkins. Here's the first line of the wikipedia. Franklin Chennault Watkins (December 30, 1894 - December 4, 1972) was an American painter. Search that up so you can see the rest!
It’s unlikely to be the same artist. The style is completely different and so are the signatures. Pity though, it would be very valuable!
Looks more like Bartholomew Colles Watkins, who was Irish, so that would fit
I'm pretty sure the painting is a hobbyist piece, painted by using the Bob Ross tutorial tapes popular in the 90s. My grandpa painted an almost identical painting to this one from one of those tutorials. It actually may be identical.
I will be up with the larks every morning awaiting my book to arrive 😃. You made a lovely job of the picture frames and the lamp, hope you get a lovely shade for it if you decide to change it ❤x
I love a signed book…congratulations on receiving the finished copies they look amazing ❤
Elderwood fabric by Laura Ashley is listed online $68.00 per yard. If you have extra wallpaper it makes wonderful lampshades.
It’s amazing how a little paint can make such a difference! The green frame looks beautiful and I love the lamp!!
I highly recommend the film Dare to be wild about Mary Reynolds and the Chelsea Flower Show
Green is the easiest colour on the eyes. Your guest room is beautiful. I like that you ain't rushing into getting a lampshade for the sake of a video. I love the idea of having the lampshade match wallpaper but the linen colour also looks lovely. The lamp stand alone looks fabulous ❤
Green is so nice isn’t it totally a calming vibe!
@@DaintyDiaries totally 😊 💚 green is serene
I know you are so Proud of yourself for this Beautiful Book! I can’t wait to get my hands on it and look at all your creations👍 I wish you could come to the U.S. and do some in person signing at our book stores, I would love to meet you in person! You are so fun to watch and so inspiring, such a delightful young woman. Thank you for always being so positive and sharing your life with us.
Awww, you are so so kind, thank you for your support. Sadly I don't sell enough books to cover the cost of an overseas book tour, maybe one day x
Yes, I enjoy watching whatever you do. You're a breath of fresh air, Catherine 😘
Hi Catherine. If you have any wallpaper left over you could decoupage and plain white or cream lampshade. I've done that before to match a lamp in a room! The picture frame looks so much better in the green rather than pink!
Ah, the quieting of the mind these types of projects gives you. Everyone should spend more quiet time with themselves. 😊
You’re absolutely right 😍❤️ so important!! Glad you enjoyed and thanks for stopping by Colleen ❤️
It’s so lovely to see the painting’s signature is Watkins, that’s my Mum’s family name. Originally a Welsh surname 😊
You're more lovely every time I watch you. I'm happy you and the kitten are doing so well.
Thank you! 😊
The green frame is so much better than the pink one. It goes harmonically with the print. And I love the painting. Well chosen, dear Catherine.🫶
Thanks so much!! Yeah I’m glad I went for my green now!
I knew these type of 90s prints that I grew up with would be making their way back around before long. Ive been seeing a lot of 90s country and cottage style things popping back up in peoples homes lately. Also, there were Bob Ross tutorial vhs tapes in the 80s and 90s that taught people how to paint his style of paintings. My grandpa was really into it. I believe thats what your painting is. My family members have several nearly identical pictures painted by my grandpa and uncle who followed the Bob Ross tutorials 😊
I LOVE watching a Bob Ross video before bed, so relaxing x
the garden tour is splendid!
In the States, it depends on where you’re from or where you were first introduced to traffic circles as to whether you call them circles or roundabouts. I met my first traffic circle on the East Coast in the early 90s. Now I live in the Midwest and I hear people call the much smaller versions here both a roundabout and a circle. 😊
Thanks for the lovely walk around the walled garden and the noise of the birds. Right choice for the frame in the guest bedroom. Xx
France loves roundabouts, all sizes, and we've found them great when heading in the wrong direction rather than doing a dangerous u-turn 😊 I was wondering if you could paste some leftover wallpaper onto a smaller lampshade for your lamp 🤔
Small projects make such a big impact.
☺️
Your welcome 😊
Love the pictures.
I just happened upon your channel. I am from the United States In Tennessee. I believe The picture Of the 2 women Is a replica of home interior. Home interior company Was very popular In the 70s 80s and 90s. I have truly enjoyed watching your channel.
Congratulations on your beautiful book! 💐
Thank you so much! xxx
I loved the unexpected asmr no music frame cleaning! 😍
Canada has roundabouts too!
I was thinking you can decoupage some cutouts from your wallpaper on the lampshade 😊
The pink framed piece looks like a Home Decor piece from the 80s here in the U.S. They were a home decoration party company, sort like the old school Tupperware. Looks much better with green frame.
the book looks great, looking forward to finding it in store here in Canada. Also great call on changing out the colour of the floral print, the green really makes the florals stand out.
I love that I will be in Ireland when your book arrives at my home in the UK 😂 looking forward to reading it when I get home xxx
The pictures turned out lovely. The green is so calming and made the women and bench stand out more. Calmed down the pink. I love it! Anxious to see the lamp done and on the beautiful lamp. I have really enjoyed your first book and really excited to receive a signed copy of your second one😊. I love watching your channel, and your accent just adds to it, so calming and makes me happy.
I love your redo of the prints. They are wonderful. I have also purchased several for my home, redone frames, corrected slightly damaged oils; I have that in my background and basically, there are 6 here with me to date. I always am on the lookout for oils. The little lamp is just precious. Let us know how you handle the new shade; I do get mine from the resale shops.
The gardens are so beautiful. I love all things Ireland. My given name is Patricia, my stepdad, was born in Belfast, and actually raised in Canada. He has since passed on; but when he was here, he was fun loving, talked to everyone, and was just a jolly man. So, all that said, I adore you and your channel. Thanks for all you do!!!!
You’re an oil painting pro!! I’m sure you have a beautiful collection 😍 your stepdad sounds like a great man! ❤️ thanks for stopping by Patricia! Xx
I like the green frame better than the pink. It highlights the print nicely. I'm sure you'll be able to thrift something else to try the mod podge technique on.
Hello from the USA, little town of Middleton Michigan. Just wanted to say that your creativity never ceases to amaze me. The frames turned out fantastic, especially the green one. The scenery is absolutely breathtaking, your very fortunate to have things like that around.
Wow! So exciting for you to get your book 📖 🎉🥳❤️
🎉 I was in the Eason's warehouse just there and the pre orders are getting packaged today!
@@DaintyDiaries 💃👏😁
I don't know about the UK, but here across the pond I remember people from the silent generation era picking up these 'generic' paintings at malls and hotel conference halls. Every home from that era seemed to have one of these paintings. I recognize them right off as they all have similar frames and the mountain in the background, very generic. I stay away from them, but I know the younger generations seem to be keen on picking them up. (I am 60 y.o. and it was a thing of my parents' generation.)
Love how they become popular once again x
Catherine love the green frame👍👍❤
Beautiful job on the paintings and lamp! Congratulations on the new book!🎉❤
🤗
Beautifully done Catherine. I too prefer the green frame than the pink. I too looked up the artist as several of your other fans had done. There is an Irish artist called Bartholomew Colles Watkins during the 1833-1891. He's well known for travelling throughout Ireland doing landscapes. I could be wrong.😋 Keep up the great works!🥰cute as a button you.
If it is an authentic Colles Watkins, it could be worth a couple of hundred euros ;-)
Nice job on the frames, Catherine! I like the green much better than pink. Looks perfect in that space. Didn't want to say anything about it before, but now that you've made your decision I can say I didn't care for the pink frame at all. I thought it looked cheap and dated, but you've transformed it beautifully!
Thanks so much! 😊 x
Yes, I was biting my tongue too - the pink kind of screamed ‘80s to me, as I had pink framed prints back then.
@@janedrolet2807 never bite your tongue, it’s only decor, always share with kindness ❤️
Your excitement reminded me of a kid in a candy store when you came in with your box of books! Wishing you only the best...you are amazing!!!
👍👍
Thanks Karen! ❤️ the countdown is on! Thanks for stopping by xx
Roundabouts: In Canada they are called traffic circles. For me, they were scary to drive in at first-but now I love them.
Love the lamp ❤pictures turned out great ❤
Thanks so much 😊
Loved watching this after I got back from vacation ❤. Can’t wait to receive my signed copy. ❤ I’m sure it’ll be as grand as the first.❤
Not long now to wait, they'll start shipping from Friday the 3rd. x
Maybe changing the light bulb casing would help so as it will be the same as all of your other ones for bulbs.😊 ❤ 🇨🇦
The pink frame looks a lot better in green. I love watching you work, it is so soothing. Thank you Catherine.❤
Green seems to be the right call 😍
Thank you for the DYI ideas have a wonderful weekend ❤❤❤❤😊😊😊
Love sharing the DIY inspo! ❤️ thanks for stopping by!
If .you can’t find the fabric to make the lamp shade then use wallpaper. I bought shades I liked and the shade of white I liked then I cut out the parts of the wallpaper I liked and decoupage it onto the shade. I over lapped the prints some what then once it dried I bout a non yellowing marge podge over top! It turned out really pretty and I get so many compliments on the small lampshades which I actually used all the way around my chandelier so I did like nine of them. Good luck
I am so excited to get my book, I preordered from Eaton. Yay!
Ahh what a lovely calming Vid, thanks so much I enjoyed watching you renovate those frames. I have had a stressful day and this was exactly what I needed to relax to. Love the idea of making the lampshade, I have a similar lamp and my poor shade got mouldy, so I may go nuts and paint it abstract! I love the look of your book and many congrats now it is ready at last. Thank you Catherine for making me smile today xx
I hope you are dong better this weekend less stress x
I loved the oil painting, I have a couple from a charity shop and car boot sale very similar. My dad has a lathe and one of the things he likes to turn are lamps, many, many lamps 😂 I have one in my living room which I love because he made it. Your book looks fab 🩷
That’s so special!! those personal touches are what makes a home!
Your book - For Jack & Lily 🥹 your nephew & niece. That is so lovely! Being an auntie is the best 🌸
It’s a special one 🥹🩷
Oh brill, another book, will be ordering that one aswell.
I hope you enjoy x ❤
Hi Catherine, Closs and Hamblin have the Laura Ashley Elderwood Fern Green fabric reduced from £36 to £32.40, if that’s the right one. They are in Eastbourne, East Sussex. I keep meaning to have a go at lampshade making, so I’ll be very interested in seeing that! Lovely pictures also! Kind regards from Penny in Liverpool 🇬🇧😊💕
A lovely watch Catherine! Very ASMR. The brown framed painting really does have a Bob Ross vibe!
Yes, I was thinking that, the trees are looking like happy little trees x
Your videos just make me so happy! ❤
Aww that means a lot to me! Glad you stopped by 🩷
Nice choice for pink frame.
Thank you 😊
Congratulations on the second book, Catherine!
Okay brilliant, I never thought to use a F&B sample pot for a small DIY like this-- your frame turned out beautiful!
Once again, you’ve got my creative juices flowin! I have that wallpaper in my entry. I have a little bird lamp base i am thinking would be adorable with that print in a shade. I am going to try to accordion fold a shade cover for my lamp. My book is on order- can’t wait to get it!!! Thanks again for the inspiration.❤️
Your hallway sounds fab😍😍 glad I could share some inspo! Hope you love the book Tonya!!
Those pictures looked fabulous Catherine. The oil painting looked like a peaceful place to be. Wonderful. Kitties make the video lovely too. Thank you.
I work for an interior design business in the UK and use the same kit as yours to make up lampshades. You can get them in a 20cm diameter version, if that would work better for your shade xx
That’s a great bit of kit that you used on that oak frame. I liked the pink frame initially but painting it green really made the picture pop.
eBay & Etsy have Laura Ashley fabric and lampshades.
Your haircut looks pretty!
Thanks 😅
I bought the book I can’t wait to get it I pre ordered ❤❤❤❤
Yay ❤ I hope you enjoy it when it arrives
You made me realize how much I miss Bob Ross and his happy clouds (mountains, trees, ponds). He had such a nice vibe. I love what you did with the paintings. I would probably paint everything green if I could.
Spring time in Ireland looks quite lovely .
Catherine, I am so excited, your book arrives today! 👍👍
Hey ❤️ did you order the first book? The second book Heart and Home will be getting delivered from May 3rd 😁
@@DaintyDiaries Yes, the first. It is a beautiful book! I am excited for the second, as well.
@@newenglandcoast7121 aw I hope you enjoy it x
Just ordered my copy, it should be winging its way to Wales soon. 🏴
Yes! Not long now, I think they are getting shipped from the 3rd, we have a bank holiday, so trying to get them out without any delays x
What a lovely book!
Awww thank youuu!!!
John lewis have Laura Ashley material, good luck xxx
Hi Dainty Diaries,if you have any of the Wallpaper left over and if you find a lampshade you like, in a light colour, cover it with the left over paper, I think they use Mod podge as it drys clear and puts a protective coat on it.
Congratulations with your book, you made the paintings and lamp so beautiful, thanks for this lovely vlog, it made me happy after a rough day 🥰
Hi Catherine
I have been enjoying your vlogs for years and just ordered your new book..so excited
Many blessings from Tropical Far North Queensland 🏡🌴🌴🌴🐱🐱🐱
Thank you so much for the support, I hope you enjoy it when it arrives x
The first painting, on which you cleaned and touched up the frame, looks very much like an oil painting that we have. We bought it in Munich in 1982. I have also seen similar paintings with almost the exact same theme: mountains, river, trees, from various sources. I think that many of them were painted by art students who were practicing their painting skills, and just happened to sell them and make a few marks/quid/dollars/shekels on their work. I don't recognize the artist, but they painted an idyllic scene. Enjoy!
Very nice piece of artwork! I love this kind of painting and have several in my home. Most of them are from yard sales or estate sales. They add a kind of coziness to a home that is warm and homey rather than aspiring to grandeur.
Thank you very much!
Cotton swab and spit, watch The Repair Shop!😊❤
If you still have some wallpaper you could cut motifs from it and adhere them to a linen shade. Select a lightbulb that does not get hot.
Or with your amazing painting skills copy a section of the wallpaper onto the shade. What fun and very inexpensive!
Hi Catherine the picture frames and lamp turned out beautiful, congratulations on your new book I’m going to order your book look forward to receiving it have a lovely weekend 😊
Yayy I hope you love it ❤️❤️
@@DaintyDiaries I will Catherine I love DIY and craft just need to build my confidence and I’m sure reading your book will encourage me.
Aww Catherine loved your upcycles and I am so happy for you and cannot wait for mine to arrive as a pre order will love to have a signed copy it looks amazing well done xx❤xx
Thanks for ordering Mary! Hope you love it ❤️
That type of light bulb connection I know as a bayonet fitting, as opposed to screw-in. Just FYI. LOVE the two restored frames! That two ladies print is sealed so well, to protect the print from moisture - of which Ireland has a lot! 🙂 I made art for my bathrooms when I was still in our 45 year old house, but I always sealed the pictures in behind non-reflective glass and with lots of strong taping on the back - it works!
The pink frame did look nice but the green is better it makes the print stand out better
Beautiful book
Thank you! 😊
Funny, I goggled Irish painter oils and Bartolomew Watkins came up. I thought the name looked like Watkins. There were some other paintings there that looked like his style. Don't know but it sure is fun looking.
Hi Catherine, the pictures both turned out so nice. Love the lamp. Congratulation’s on your book. Have a lovely weekend
Thanks Jo!! ❤️ have a lovely weekend!
The green frame really allows the painting to pop on the wall. Your friend's father did a beautiful job making that lamp. If you want to do a DIY shade for it they have kits that come with a shade that has a paper sheet wrapped around the outside that is peeled off and has a sticky surface underneath that you attach your fabric to. You might be able to contact Laura Ashley and see if they made a fabric to match the wallpaper and if you can order it from them. Loving your book, can't wait to order one! Congrats to Beogh (sp?) on not peeing the bed anymore :)
Oh yes, great idea, I might see if I can get a smaller lamp kit x
Picture perfect ❤ such a lovely relaxing video…just what I needed. The book looks brilliant….excited to be receiving mine soon 😀
Chill cosy vibes all around!!
The lamp shade is fine but it needs an extension screwed onto the base to lift it. You can find these in lamp shops or lamp repair shops.
Beautiful art
I would do a removable lamp shade cover, with elastic at the bottom and a few ruffles. Love the pictures. ❤
Catherine-if you google image your wallpaper and search fabric you may very well find who is selling it. My sister in law used to make lamp shades with paper, couldn’t you use leftover wallpaper to make a shade? You may need to pierce the paper, but it will work. Good luck.
Thanks!
wow! thank you, could I just double check, is this for a book? I’m unable to process book transactions here, only through Easons,
Pop me an email at hello@daintydressdiaries.com if this was for a book.
📖💕Just placed my preorder from Eason! So excited to hold your beautiful book in my hands!☕️📚 Sending ♥️ from 🇨🇦
Aww yayy thanks so much! Hope you love it ❤️
Hi Catherine, FANTASTIC VIDEO love this kind of video and transforming homeware. The bulb you need is called a Bayonet Bulb you can purchase both a Large Bayonet or Small Bayonet - looked like you require a Large Bayonet. The painting is lovely as is your print and the lamp very special. My Dad made me a lamp which is special and even more so now he passed away. thanks again and am looking forward to receiving your new book. Take care, x
Such lovely paintings. I love when you do these projects. ❤
Thanks so much 😊
The book is stunning!!! Super top quality. Can't wait to get mine!
The green looks much better than the pink on the garden picture. Well done.
Beautiful new book Catherine, looking forward to seeing it in person!
Eeekk I hope you love it 🩷
Can't wait to get the book! I preordered from Easons way back. So excited for you!!!
Yayyy not long now!!
What a thrill it must be to open your very own book. I can hardly wait to get my copy. Congrats❤
I’m so excited for you to receive it! X
The french women painting is beyond beautiful. I am a pink person, but no, the green is SO MUCH BETTER. It is absolutely perfect on the wall where you hung it. LOVELY!!!! xxx
Aw thank you, yes the pink was nice but I loved it when I painted it green x
