So nice to hear you liked the yellow dress! And yes, the pattern and quality were really nice, someone on here commented their grandma actually had the same sheet and used it to make a quilt!
Loved the entire video, selecting the fabrics, choosing the designs, working out how to make your design a reality, putting it all together and then showing at the market. I loved the ruffle sleeved cardigan but thought every piece was gorgeous. Bonus that you did it all with equipment and notions that was borrowed and come from a friends grandmother sewing basket. I liked the darker blue jacket the best but everything is beautiful! One of my handicapped son’s passed away last year and he loved to snuggle in quilt type blankets like you made the jackets from. I now have a wonderful idea for how to transform some of his blankets into items for me, family and his caregivers. Lovely. I have 2 prepared quilts (quilted blankets) on my table ready to transform, and watching you just stokes my Fires of Enthusiasm for the project.
In so happy her channel popped up! This is all I want to add to my few projects I sell. Its hard to make a line up because of size difference but these would be easy to make in a small/ medium and a large/XL type way.
My favorite is the blue cardigan. In fact, it is the reason I clicked on your video. I saw the picture of it on UA-cam....and click! You are a very talented seamstress and I have enjoyed watching you create!
I came upon your channel and truly enjoyed your talents, soothing tone, exceptional delivery and most of all, your passion. I am 63 years old and finally investigating my hidden passion. Scared, but nevertheless, I will try and learn. Since I was a small child, I would always accompany my grandmother to fabric stores and such, as she was a talented seamstress for known artist. It stayed with me throughout raising children and grandchildren. I don't believe it's too late to follow your dreams. I will find a way. Thank you so much for relighting my urge.
This is so nice to read, thank you so much for sharing your story. Of course it is never too late, we learn every day and if you find joy in something that is so worth pursuing! I’m teaching myself through UA-cam so you’ll find great ressources out there and I’m sure you will have soaked in a lot of knowledge and memories from watching your grandmother. I wish you all the best on this creative journey! And thank you so much for watching and for your kind comment.
I dug up a lap quilt that I had made years ago and am thinking about making it into a kimono. I think you are amazing! Best of luck in your creations. You have a lot of talent!
My goodness, I was captivated by your exquisite and precise sewing skills. Your work is clean, and I learned from watching you. I like everything you made. I love the second cardigan with the feminine sleeve detail. Congratulations on your first fair. I sincerely wish you a successful career in your future. Merry Christmas to you, next month. Please keep posting.
This is just so sweet of you, thank you so much for your lovely words and support! I’m so glad you learned something along the way, I did too! Hope you’ll enjoy the next ones as well.
It was all beautiful, but I was so impressed with how you matched up the plaid lines. It boggles my mind. I had to like it best even though it wouldn't be something I would normally wear, because of your skill and originality of the pattern. And of course being a country girl, a dress has to have pockets. Lol
Thank you so much I’m so glad you liked them! Well I have to say..I was so careful to line them up in the middle that I completely forgot about the sides so the front and back don’t match up at the side seams haha! I do love that pattern and will definitely be making it again. Thank you for watching!
I love everything you made. The jackets, how beautiful your sewing is, those mother-of pearl buttons, the dresses. The main thing is you attended the market and sold something. I believe in word of mouth advertsing. People will see those beautiful jackets and want one too. Be sure to make enough for the next market! Best of luck.❤
I just loved everything about your video. The simplicity of your designs were incredible. I loved both cardigans. I look forward to seeing what you design next.
Thank you so much that really means a lot! I’m glad you liked the footage itself, I find so many aspects of sewing really beautiful and satisfying for the eyes and ears so I wanted to share them. Thank you for your support and for watching!
Thank you so much! Yes I'll definitely consider it, I love making those and they're actually easier to make from a blanket or quilt because you don't have to line them... All the best with your own projects/learning.
Stunning and I love the upcycling! I'm Japanese and we have a kind of traditional blanket house coat called a hanten. This is like a elevated and nicely detailed version! I love it!
Thank you so much! I didn't know the name so thanks for sharing; those hanten house coats really are beautiful. I was actually thinking for a while about having tie closures rather than buttons, so they would have looked even more like it. I'm really glad you liked them!
Love all the projects. Especially love the whimsical effect of the blanket fabric. The colors are so appropriate to the style. Your new place looks like a fun project in a lovely location. Hopefully you will keep us posted on this project. Also, always appreciate channels without lots of chit- chat but lots of doing. Thanks
Thank you so much for your comment! I'm really glad you liked the projects. Those quilted blankets really were beautiful to start with. I hope you enjoy the next videos!
I love the cardigans made from the quilts (quilts are made from three layers; front, batting and backing and then quilted together) blankets are usually single layer of fabric/wool. Great video. As a 30+ year quilter the hardest part is pricing for others.
Thank you so much for watching! Yes, you're absolutely right, they are quilts. I can imagine it's difficult, quilting takes so much time, passion and energy! All the best with your own projects!
Thank you so much! I'm really glad you found it and enjoyed it. UA-cam is a great source of inspiration for me, so it makes me very happy you found this video inspiring!
I liked the blue cardigan the best. The style of it was actually somewhat Victorian, with the dropped shoulder and balloon sleeves. I could imagine it as a bed jacket for a fine lady. :) Beautiful work, and a fine repurposing of materials!
Ah I love this! I can picture it too! I did feel very historical and fancy wearing it, hence the name Blanket Royalty ;) Thank you so much for watching.
@@marikunastudio Wow! Your designs and pristine tailoring is exquisite and top of the line!! Yet this was heartbreaking to watch… All that work for $5.50 an hour! I am a clothing designer, and I could write you a book giving you advice, but I’ll try to keep it short… You shouldn’t be making less than $30 an hour that means to sell an item for $150 you need to get it done in 4 hrs. = $120 plus approximately $30 for the fabric. = $150 Plus, you’ll need to add the cost of shipping and delivery finding and getting the fabric pre-washing the fabric making labels the cost of your machine, sheen maintenance, electricity on and on - you should at least add another $10 at minimum to every garment for the aforementioned. Thereby your garment would equal $160. So, as you can see to sew your jackets, you’d have to cut labor cost down by over, locking all your seams, and no bias on the edges instead because you’ve overlooked you topstitch the seams down, make your button loops, so your loops in and instead of hand, sewing your labels, and you need to machine stitch and if you don’t like that, just tack the four corners, get a simpler hangtag, you’ll also need to sew in fiber content, and washing instructions etc I know this might sound harsh but you’re undermining professionals by selling the garment you made for $5.50 an hour This is not a garment that was mass produced in China Even China wouldn’t sell some thing for $5.50 an hour! If you were to go the route of sowing in binding around all the edges and covering the inside seam allowances, etc. I would estimate you could get that done in 6hrs. Then add. And the cost of the fabric say $30 at minimum plus adding in $10 per garment. You’d be looking at your jackets selling for $190. Which I believe many people would buy. But it’s all about where you sell it! You don’t sell one of a kind designer garments at the farmers market so to speak. You don’t sell the best for nothing. Beyond selling online, I would take it to a gallery and do a showing there and or have your own boutique If you sell it in someone else’s boutique, they’re going to take 40 to 50% in which case I would sell the boutique the one where it’s over locked and no seam binding. Start researching online and find out what people are charging and get your prices up You have to accept that not everyone can afford your garments you’re gonna have to except that only the rich can afford your garments, and that your average person cannot. I would have assumed that you would’ve sold your jackets for $320 and the dresses for $200 minimum You have to accept reality and that you can’t spend your life‘s time and energy working for less than $20 an hour let alone six dollars an hour. That’s insane.! Well, like I said, I could write a book but I hope I helped you get a bigger picture. Good luck!
@@ritawhite2070thank you for sharing your take and tips on this! You’re right of course, I do hope to reach a better balance between those different factors, and there are many ways I can do that. All the best to you!
As a consumer and occasional sewer and granddaughter of a dressmaker/fitter, ive got a different take on price and value. While I agree that no experienced dress designer/dressmaker should work for $5.50 an hour, I dont think you have to take all the advice of someone who would charge $300 per garment. If fashion is ever to become sustainable, it must be affordable for many people. I would pay $200 for one of those jackets because a) that is a bit more than I can easily afford but I caN still pay my bills and b) I appreciate hand work. If you charged 23$an hour for 6 hrs that would be $138 for labor and $62 for materials and profit. You would still have to significantly cut your sewing time, but 6 hrs of labor vs 4 hrs would give you two more hours to pay attention to sustainability. Origami labels might be lovely, but totally unnecessary.
@@marianlinden9736 Thank you for sharing your take! It's great to get a sense of what people would charge/pay/value. All the things shown here (including the labels!) I made because I enjoyed that process. But of course it doesn't mean I should undersell them because it happens to be my passion. So I am figuring things out as I go and this was part of the experiment. Thank you for your support!
I absolutely love your video. I vote for the dresses as my favorite, but I am partial to dresses. I love the sleeves on the cardigans. My family is full of quilters, what a great idea to use blankets. ❤
Lovely video. I am a maker myself and am getting ready for another craft show in my hometown in the US. I was taking a break and found your video. I sat back and watched it, enjoying your skill and calming voice and manner. Congratulations on your success at this event and your inspiring video!
I love the 2nd jacket. The quilted coverlets were both terrific finds. I'd wear the yellow dress but would have to sew most of the bodice closed. I really like that thermal cotton fabric. It reminds me of one of my son's baby blankets.
I'm so glad you liked them! And yes these quilted throws were amazing already. Almost didn't want to cut into them! And the bodice of the yellow dress is more revealing for sure, but I thought it also worked really well with a top or sweater underneath, and someone on here suggested doing the ties at the back, so the design could be adapted. Thank you for watching!
Thank you so much, I'm really glad you thought so! It's always a nice challenge trying to figure out what would work well with a specific fabric/material/colour/texture.
Oh my goodness, all of these pieces were so beautiful! My experience doing craft shows has been that as you do more shows, and repeat the same shows each year, more people buy. I guess the familiarity of seeing my face makes them somehow more confident in purchasing? And of course I got better at what I do over time.
I really enjoyed all your pieces and the story behind it all. I enjoyed your take on fashion - they were ways and directions I wouldn’t have thought to go, but were so beautiful in skill/quality/accomplishment. Thank you for sharing your work - I loved them all, was really surprised that I liked the yellow dress, but my fave was the first, the geometric puzzle dress. :)
Thank you so much for such a nice comment! This is so nice to read, I'm really glad you liked it. I do love that dress, and plan on making more. Thank you for watching!
How beautiful! If I had been to that market I would have bought both of those cardigans before you even got them fully unwrapped! Wishing you great success in your new business. ❤
That is honestly so nice to read, thank you so much for writing that! And for your wishes! I do love making those blanket cardigans and plan on making more.
I like them all. The yellow dress is a luscious shade of yellow. It would be too hard for me to say which one I liked the best. I do sew. I appreciate your work and your ease at designing patterns. I have not ever bound the inside of my seams. I do love the professional look. I made my first shirt pattern which took quite a long time as I am self-taught with pattern design. It was a simple Eileen Fisher linen blouse that I wanted to copy and make more of before I wore the blouse out. I love natural fibers. Your pockets were the most exciting thing. You put pockets on everything. That is wonderful. I subscribed. Keep going. You did great.
Thank you so much for such a nice comment! I'm really glad you enjoyed it! I do love trying to finish all the inside seams nicely. But I'm also self-taught, so my pattern-making is still very basic. I stick with looser fits and I'm still struggling with more fitted garments. All the best with your own sewing projects and thank you so much for watching and subscribing!

Cool. I have sewn all my life and lately been following a couple real estate channels in Itally and France. Just to see the area, small towns, in credible stone buildings! I followed one in Normandy, France first. Mostly farmhomes that caretakers of farm would have lived in. Properties divided up in strange ways but the scenery is great. Then A Home in Italy popped up and they have more homes right in the towns. We retired more rural in Southern California. Our small town doesnt have everything though like the ones in other countries. We do have bigger stores an hour south and north so plan out trips. Im selling here for first time on my life as the native tribe had a farmers market because everyone kept asking me where I got my jean bags from. I've been sewing and wearing all second hand most of my life. My mother made my sister and I dresses from her dresses. You can see that in pictures! Ok Im typing while video is on. Going to watch your creations. I want to make more dresses like yours but I cannot get any yardage so thinking to join materials like mens shirts or tshirts. I like the choice of ruffled sleeve. I have a velvet type hooding that did have elastic ruching (sp?) and its all stretched out. I may try doing that ribbon channel to fix sleeves and at waist. Im so going to subscribe and check out your channel.
Thank you so much, I'm glad you enjoyed it! And yes those real estate channels are dreamy..! Joining materials is always a great and fun option. Curtains, tablecloth, bed linens, old clothes, from your closet or from people around who might be happy to get rid of them...Good luck with fixing that sweater and with all your projects.

Lovely. I have 2 prepared quilts (quilted blankets) on my table ready to transform, and watching you just stokes my Fires of Enthusiasm for the project.
That’s so nice to hear! All the best with these projects, I’m sure you’ll make amazing pieces out of them! Thank you so much for watching.
In so happy her channel popped up! This is all I want to add to my few projects I sell. Its hard to make a line up because of size difference but these would be easy to make in a small/ medium and a large/XL type way.

Extremely creative and clever. Super jobs. I like the second cardigan the best.
Thank you so much, that means a lot! I do love that second cardigan, the fabric was so gorgeous to start with.
My favorite is the blue cardigan. In fact, it is the reason I clicked on your video. I saw the picture of it on UA-cam....and click! You are a very talented seamstress and I have enjoyed watching you create!
Thank you so much, I'm so glad you liked the cardigan and video! I absolutely adore that one too. I felt so special wearing it ;)
The yellow tie dress was my favorite. Very feminine and pretty!
So nice to know you liked it! I didn't come up with the design but I'm very happy with how it turned out. Thanks for following along!
Too good love from south Africa very very creative I wish I could sew like you but I'm trying Thanku be safe n happy God bless u

The Take Flare Cardigan sleeves were the perfect choice! Everything you made was lovely.
Thank you so much! Yes I do think those sleeves really work, very happy with that choice. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Can’t pick a favourite because I like them all!🥰
So happy to hear that, thank you so much!
I loved the cardigan with the sleeves gathered around the wrist. My fav 😀
The fabric was so nice to start with but I am very happy with the design too! So glad you liked it.
I dug up a lap quilt that I had made years ago and am thinking about making it into a kimono. I think you are amazing! Best of luck in your creations. You have a lot of talent!
Thank you so much, it means a lot! That sounds like a great project for that quilt, all the best with it! Thank you for watching.
My goodness, I was captivated by your exquisite and precise sewing skills. Your work is clean, and I learned from watching you. I like everything you made. The blue cardigan. I want one! I love your style. And your finishing work is superb.
That's so nice to hear, thank you! I'm glad you liked that one!
My favorite was the "cardigan" with the flared sleeves gathered at the wrists -- so cozy and feminine ! Well done !
Thank you so much! I really love those sleeves too. But the fabric was also beautiful to begin with!
Cannot Choose a Favourite, as I LOVE them ALL 🩷💚💙💛
Soooo Beautiful,
Thank you for sharing
Thank *you* so much that’s so nice of you! So glad you love them all.

Love your creativity. I especially like the jackets. Maybe you would do a tutorial for those of us not as creative at designing our own custom wear.

It's the yellow one for me. All of the pieces are quite stunning
Thank you so much! So glad you liked it, I thought the fabric+pattern combination would work really well.
I liked the blue cardigan the best. The style of it was actually somewhat Victorian, with the dropped shoulder and balloon sleeves. I could imagine it as a bed jacket for a fine lady. :) Beautiful work, and a fine repurposing of materials!

@@marikunastudio Wow! Your designs and pristine tailoring is exquisite and top of the line!!
Yet this was heartbreaking to watch…
All that work for $5.50 an hour!
I am a clothing designer, and I could write you a book giving you advice, but I’ll try to keep it short…
You shouldn’t be making less than $30 an hour that means to sell an item for $150 you need to get it done in
4 hrs. = $120 plus approximately $30 for the fabric. = $150
Plus, you’ll need to add the cost of shipping and delivery finding and getting the fabric pre-washing the fabric making labels the cost of your machine, sheen maintenance, electricity on and on - you should at least add another $10 at minimum to every garment for the aforementioned. Thereby your garment would equal $160.
So, as you can see to sew your jackets, you’d have to cut labor cost down by over, locking all your seams, and no bias on the edges instead because you’ve overlooked you topstitch the seams down, make your button loops, so your loops in and instead of hand, sewing your labels, and you need to machine stitch and if you don’t like that, just tack the four corners, get a simpler hangtag, you’ll also need to sew in fiber content, and washing instructions etc
I know this might sound harsh but you’re undermining professionals by selling the garment you made for $5.50 an hour
This is not a garment that was mass produced in China
Even China wouldn’t sell some thing for $5.50 an hour!
Beyond selling online, I would take it to a gallery and do a showing there and or have your own boutique
If you sell it in someone else’s boutique, they’re going to take 40 to 50% in which case I would sell the boutique the one where it’s over locked and no seam binding.
Start researching online and find out what people are charging and get your prices up
You have to accept that not everyone can afford your garments you’re gonna have to except that only the rich can afford your garments, and that your average person cannot.
I would have assumed that you would’ve sold your jackets for $320 and the dresses for $200 minimum
You have to accept reality and that you can’t spend your life‘s time and energy working for less than $20 an hour let alone six dollars an hour.
Well done. I liked the bedsheet dress.

Love your blanket cardigans and the dresses. How adorable! And you have repurposed blankets into beautiful wearable style!
Thank you so much! I’m really glad you thought the repurposing worked.
Love the yellow dress!

Beautiful designs, and I love that they are from recycled materials!!

Thank you so much! So happy you did.
