    That's why I've got just the Slip-On... (Still waiting it)... Here in Spain noise and CO2 regulations are very strict and if you use it you will get so many fines for noise... Then you have to remove it and install the stock one every 2 years to do the vehicle inspection... For me not worth all the money + time spending with the instalation and ride always worried if police will stop me but the sound and pops are amazing... I'll do a instalation and review of the Slip-On as well so we will see the diference :)

    Omg dude, the color it gets after heating is just...OMG I guess it stays the same from now on right? Amazing bike! Is there a chance you will get a decibel meter for a video to check the decibel level if it's the same as specified by AR? Ride safe!

      Colors stay the same 😊
      That was accually a really good idea for a vid with the decibel, Thanks 😁
      AR say that the config I am running should be 102dB, but I think its a bit louder 😅 And I am still waiting for AR to release a vid with the RS2 systems where they check the decibel 😊

    Is an ECU re-map required for the AR full system?

    • @DamTheDane
      @DamTheDane  3 роки тому +1

      According to AR No re-map is needed as long as you run the Low dB version 😊
      If you run the High dB version, you need to get it remapped 😊

  • @Glen45
    @Glen45 3 роки тому +3

    Are you getting the bike remapped next? Does it need it?

    • @DamTheDane
      @DamTheDane  3 роки тому +1

      AR say its not needed with the LOW Db version and that it should be happy with stock mapping :)
      I do consider to get it map, just to be safe :)

      @@DamTheDane Doesn't it concern you that your new SDR-3.0 has its warranty voided by installing full system after-market exhausts? Not that it matters anyway (due to a full system having been already installed) but flashing the ECU also voids the KTM manufacturers warranty.
      If it weren't for the warranty being voided I'd probably take my chances with the mountains of fines I'd rack up here in Spain (it would be totally unavoidable) as they set up roadblocks all over the place, mostly on the roads they know are great for riding motorbikes (and also very popular with motorbikers). It isn't even enough to avoid the most popular roads because they set up operations on arterial roads into & out of urban areas where they allow all traffic to pass unless you're on a 2 wheeled vehicle and then regardless of how the bike looks or sounds they pull you over and put you in the queue for a mandatory decibel level check, performed at 5 individual engine speeds - 1) at idle rpm; 2) at 2000rpm; 3) at 4000rpm; 4) at 6000rpm; & last but not least 5) throttle pinned so that it hits the rpm-limiter for a very brief period of time in order to get a record the maximum Db output at each level.
      These side of the road noise pollution checks are invariably accompanied by a flat-bed tow-truck where each and every bike that doesn't conform to the legislation are placed side-by-side (front wheel at left side of tow-truck platform / rear wheel at the right side - unless odd shaped bikes call for a staggered layout), with *VERY LITTLE CARE* taken to mitigate any damage caused to the haphazard loading of bikes onto the tow-truck (and when that truck arrives at the impound, well, all you can do is pray that the goon that is driving the tow-truck is having a good day, got notified of a huge pay rise that morning & feels compassionately enough to unload the bikes without just unstrapping them all and lifting up the front end of the tow-truck platform to let them all just fall off the back into a pile for the impound yard workers to start up and rip around the gravel yard to place them neatly side by side in the motorbike area of the yard. Undoubtedly this must be the time of day the impound yard workers look forward to most, ripping around on a gravel surface with high performance bikes. Oh yeah, also, you cannot claim against the tow-truck or impound facility for any damages caused to cars or bikes while they have been in their possession - I suppose that's the icing on top of the situation before the cherry is placed in the form of a fat fine!
      I'm am the sort of person that extends my KTM manufacturers warranty out to 4 years by pay hundred or so euros, effectively doubling the warranty period. This basically means I'm not going to be able to even look at full system exhausts until my SDR-3.0 is 4 years & 1 day old.
      I am however seriously considering investing in a slip-on. With the standard exhaust the burbles, pops & bangs on deceleration are so muted that they're almost not able to be heard, which is a huge shame (thanks Euro5) because having spent time with the 790 Duke and various other manufacturers parallel & V twin cylinder motors I have grown very fond of the amazing noises from the exhaust system under deceleration / downshifting / or just manually adding a touch of throttle to instigate the cracks, bangs & burbles. My Jaguar F-Type even puts out a far more impressive soundtrack and that's heard from within a cabin, through glass and sound deadening materials.
      I am trying to research it the best I can but there seems to be no info on slip-on cans effects on the soundtrack and whether or not they bring back that inherent twin cylinder burble. So I'm really struggling to decide which one to make the decision to go with.
      Anyway dude, thanks again for the awesome install video and walking through the entire process of installing your AR full system. When I checked AR website I didn't see anything resembling a "Low Decibel System" such as the one you say you ordered. All I can find is the full system exhaust which requires the full titanium "pie cut" headers (whatever "pie cut" means, but surely it must be something amazing as it adds another €1000 to the already €1700 titanium headers. From my estimation is is €2700 for the "pie cut" headers & €1200 for the exhaust (depending on selections), meaning €3900 before customising the look & before shipping. AR also advise a 16 week wait time. That's a hefty chunk of change! I'm gonna have to revisit slip-ons and see if any of them liberate the natural state of the engine & exhaust combo to burble & pop on deceleration or on demand.
      ✌ p e a c e ✌

      @@foxtrot.tango.whisky Hi. I know it voids my warranty. But if AR say the LOW Db version I am using does not need remapping I am going with it and if it blows up I will make sure AR gets to know it and all you guys of cause :)
      If you enter the full system on AR's website you can choose a LOW Db option :)
      I know that some countyes take noise restrictions very serious and that really sucks. In Denmark we start with a 350euro fine, and then the more you get busted the bigger the fine gets. To a maximum of about 2.300euro. They will never impound your bike. So I am willing to take the risk :)

      @@DamTheDane nice dude, I commend your efforts. You've got bigger balls than me that's for sure, what with the full TFT instrumentation cluster, IMU's, lean-sensitive ABS & Traction Control, Motor Slip Regulation, and all the other electronic wizardry built into the latest breed of hyper-naked bikes I'm so much more worried about electronic gremlins than I am about the LC8 engine block. No question the LC8 engine is tried & tested and has evolved so much over the years, and with every revision the LC8 is refined such that it takes another step towards perfection for a 75⁰ V-Twin. I'm super confident that any & all flaws in its mechanical design have been thoroughly ironed out. Furthermore so much of the obsolete complexities / inefficient components / excess hardware are eroded away more and more with each incarnation the engine goes through, until, after all these years of development & refinement of components with the luxury of modern manufacturing techniques and implementation of more exotic materials in construction, the final result is a diamond of an engine that truly is a masterpiece of engineering - if I had that sort of money burning a hole in my pocket I would absolutely purchase a brand new block from KTM with pieces cut away leaving an exposed cross-sectional view of the block, similar to how KTM set up their display unit at the press launch, and I'd display it in my living room, it's such a thing of beauty I don't even think the wife would protest...much... haha.
      Wow, so they don't even impound the vehicle if it fails to comply with pollution laws _(noise and/or emissions)_? You're super lucky man because here if you fail a noise pollution roadside test then the assumption is that you have modified the vehicle _(perhaps illegally)_ and as such the vehicle is impounded so that they can run an extensive test with calibrated equipment to find out exactly where the vehicle fails to meet its homologation requirements, and also to inspect what has been physically changed. Not only do they fine you for the excessive noise + emissions polluting but also, depending what the results of their inspection yield, you could very likely be on the hook for operating a vehicle with no insurance - because modifying the bike with full system exhausts and removing the catalytic converter will void your insurance. Obviously this results in exponentially more severity to the laws broken & expensive fines, potentially leading to needing lawyers to defend you in court, as worst case scenario can be a suspended license.
      To be able to ride with a full system on the bike while also knowing there is no chance for the bike to be impounded is seriously such a luxury you have. Although having your insurance companies dictate to you that riding from December through February is prohibited is hard-core man and so f^#%ing dictatorial. I really don't think I could tolerate being unable to ride for 3 months each year because of overbearing insurance underwriters saying 'NO'. I ride year round, rain or shine, snow or hail, nothing stops me, I have to ride, it's my meditative time to myself and without it I would be lost, especially for 3 months. I'm from Northern UK, so I'm no stranger to snowy winters, but living in Spain means I no longer get those unless I go to the mountain ski resorts, but then I go to ski not ride.
      Anyway dude, if you know any other SDR 3.0 owners who kept the original exhaust & catalyser but decided to buy a slip-on, please let me know if they've succeeded in releasing the crackles & burbles under deceleration from their exhaust with the change - and if so, to what extent & which make / model of slip-on.
      Take it easy man 🤙
