Brendan Fraser on The Whale, Being Favored to Win an Oscar & Airheads Stunts with Adam Sandler

  • Brendan talks about his new movie The Whale, the six minute standing ovation at the Venice Film Festival being very overwhelming, getting a lot of enjoyment from meeting fans, working with Adam Sandler on Airheads in the 90s and doing their own stunts, discovering he wanted to be an actor as a kid, playing a baseball player in The Scout and getting screamed at by George Steinbrenner, all of the amazing prosthetics in The Whale, being favored to win the Oscar for Best Actor, and being there for the opening the Mummy ride at Universal Studios.

That's a really good point. Depression is a silent killer, and brendan has been winning a war with it every single day since the 2000s. Sometimes life just gives the worst end of the stick to some people and brendan couldn't be any less deserving of its wrath. People who surmount Mt everest get the recognition, but if someone is clawing and scratching their way out of an everest-sized pit, we as a society fail to recognize this as the achievement as it is, and I feel like brendan is a perfect example of someone who forced us to recognize it through sheer will. If brendan doesn't win that Oscar for his amazing performance, I have no faith in Hollywood, especially after it did him so dirty.

@@ophelias4172 Men are not valued like women in our culture. Boys are taught from a very young age to suppress their feelings, and the way they feel is not important and that their urges are wrong. The schools treat them like broken girls. Girls are the focus and are taught to express their feelings and are given special programs in schools to progress. Much of the messenging to our boys are to suck it up and provide and that men who can not provide financially are losers. Men's lives are sacrificed in time of war, while women are not eligible for a draft. So even our government value women's lives more. In cases of divorce , our courts are stacked against men and they most often lose their financial wellbeing and their children. Women get custody. Men get visits. Men's homeless shelters do not provide for men with children. Only women's shelters allows a safe space to be homeless with children. So you better not get into trouble as a homeless dad, there is nowhere to go if you want to keep your children. The vast majority of drug overdoses in our country are men and 75% of all suicides are men... You read that right..75%. You can look that statistic up. That is because men's mental health and wellbeing are not the focus of this society and they were tought from a young age to suck it up, push forward, and it is weak let feelings out. Men are supposed to be strong. Men's feelings, and their very lives are not as valuable as women's in our culture regardless of what feminists may yell out. I would label our society a gynocentric patriarchy. Yes it is run by men, but it's focus is our women and their wellbeing. We take care of our women as good men should. Now I'm sure I'll recieve a lot of hate for this post, but you can do your own research and make your own judgments. Some opinions are blurred by social agendas, but this is really the way it is. Men have never had it better, and there is a reason they die younger. Anyway, Brendan's feelings, welbeing and mental health do not matter to the MeToo groups out there and they certainly don't matter to the rest of society. Men are easily sacrificed and are disposable.

Brendan looks so friendly to approach I will never see him in my life but If that impossible thing ever happens I think he would gently accept to give an autograph or take a selfie. He looks like a genuine nice guy

Cuando veía a Fraser de pequeña, me invadía una energía positiva y me ponía a gritar su mítico "ooooooh ooooooooooooh ooooooh" de George de La Jungla en cualquier lugar. Hoy a mis 30 vuelve a traerme fuerza. Mucha fuerza.
¿Quién no ama a este bello actor? Si supiera lo que muchos sienten al verlo 🤍🩹
