    Just wanted to say thanks! After seeing this, I got one for my 4Runner TRD Off Road! It was a game changer and I ditched the rooftop tent, giving me my roof back for storage. I put on a better roofrack for carrying more supplies and gear and can now keep recovery stuff and other non living stuff away from where I eat and sleep! I love how it is so easy to store in the bag, when not in use! (That was the selling point for me!).... I have a rear seat delete done and my brother built me a nice level floor and used automotive carpet, and it looks factory and beautiful!

      I did feel it a little but slept well nonetheless. I have since built a very simple platform though which made it much more comfortable. How hot does it get sleeping on this mattress. This looks like a great solution. How much support does this mattress provide? Is it better than just a typical air mattress?

    • @AZOverland2017
      @AZOverland2017  11 місяців тому +1

      I don't feel like the mattress retains heat like some do because it's not a cloth material. The comfort is adjustable. You can inflate it to be firm and push that button on the top to let air out little at a time to make it softer. It's better than any air mattress that I've used. It doesn't have those peaks and valleys like most air mattresses. It's actually a combination of air and foam.

    • @AZOverland2017
      @AZOverland2017  Рік тому +1

      Well, 2 things;
      I like a small slant since I have acid reflux and it is the way my bed is at home as per my Dr.
      However, it is too much of an incline, so I have a very simple 3/4" plywood platform I cut to size and wrapped in speaker carpet that I put underneath. I am still playing with how high I am going to raised the middle and foot area and still keep a slight incline so I am temporarily using rolled yoga mats under it. When I find the proper lift for me I will add wood supports to make it permanent. That platform comes right out when I need the seats up.

      Hey Charles! I have to agree with you regarding their customer service. Unfortunately, I have also found it difficult to get someone to talk to. They have a great product but unfortunately come up short on the service side. I met Liz, the owner (with her husband) at the Overland Expo last year and in person, her and Claire are wonderful. That is where I purchased the mattress and a few other items. I ended up visiting them at their location in Phoenix and Clair once again was great. The issue is the shop is nit open everyday and when they are off no one answers the phones, emails, and don't return messages. I would try Liz's email directly to see if you have any luck: liz@deepsleep4jeeps.com
      Regrading the the leveling mat, I don't have much information about it. And yes, I have also noticed they don't show or describe it on the website. Good luck on your trip and I hoe you have better success with that email. If I remember correctly, they said they are usually at the shop an Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. I have the 3 row which sits a bit different than the 2 row as far as the way the cargo area is when all seats are folded down. There is a slight incline up towards the front of the 4Runner which is actually good for me and the way I need to sleep. So, I personally do not want to make it perfectly level. What I am going to do is put 1/2" plywood under it next time because there is a small gap between row 2 and 3 when folded down. Though not a huge deal, I can sometimes feel that gap through the mattress. As far as the 2 row, from what I've observed, it looks like it lays down pretty flat so not sure anything really needs to be done there.

      Thank you! It is the 3rd row mattress and I have the deflation pump. I actually don't know what the leveling matt is, I haven't seen any pictures of it. I ended up making plywood platform wrapped in speaker carpet to put under the mattress to take the gap up between the seats. It is 73" long and 23" wide.
      Regarding those cubes, I believe they come with the 3rd row mattress, but please confirm that with the company. Since I added that platform, I no longer need the cubes.

      @AZOverland2017  8 місяців тому

      No. I have my bed on a 5" slant at home to deal with acid reflux so I'm used to it. I did end up making a simple platform out of plywood and wrapped with speaker carpet to help with the space between the seats when down. I made it for my dog and ended up using it for my mattress when camping. I just throw it in when needed

    I'm 5' 9" and will I fit in the 5th gen 4-runner WITHOUT A SEAT DELETE? Also, if I choose not to REMOVE THE SEAT, which Deep Sleep mattress should I get? I'm thinking left side (from the tail gate perspective) - thanks!

    • @AZOverland2017
      @AZOverland2017  8 місяців тому +1

      I have the 3 row 4Runner and I just fold the seats down flat, no seat delete. I'm not sure how the 2 rows are if you have one, but I would think the length should be the same. At your height, you should fit fine.
      Left or right is personal preference. I mostly sleep on my left side so I wanted to fave the open part of the back and not have my face right at the door panel.

      @@gregfagan38 If you don't have 3rd row you would order the Standard. It fits both right and left, you just flip it. The Standard is 68" long. My 3rd row mattress is 72" long. Unless you have something to level out your cargo area, I believe the non 3rd row (standard 2 row seating) needs a leveling matt as well.

      @@AZOverland2017 So, I fold down the second row, I don't have a third row, and the standard is fine? I mention this because on the video there is NO SECOND ROW and the blowup pillow fills the void where the SECOND ROW would fold down. SO, in summary, FOLD DOWN THE 2nd ROW and get the standard. Again, your video shows the 2nd row REMOVED. okay?

      This worked fine but I ended up building a 72" long 3/4" plywood platform and wrapping it it speaker carpet to take up any gaps. It is higher on the head side which I like. But. I do put a few blocks of wood under to bring my feet up just a little. Its easily removeable so I have access to my seats

    • @AZOverland2017

      I would say if you set it up like I did it, would be tight. I think you would have to bend a little. If you had a full size mattress or 2 of something like the DeepSleep mattresses and slept diagonally, then yes you should fit fine. I have the 3rd row so my back cargo area sits quite a bit higher than the normal cargo area that folds flat. Having only 2 rows would be more conducive to filling the back with a mattress and stretching ot for someone taller. I'm only 5'6"

      It also depends if you are looking for 2 row or 3 row as they fold up differently. I have a 3rd row, and if I put my front seats all the way forward I have about 83" (6'9") of space between the rear hatch and the back of the front seats. However, there is obviously a gap that would have to be filled for head support. I filled those with the blow up cubes as seen in the video. I can't speak for the 2 row 5th Gen
