@@jetpixi13missed me is not as autobiographical as you might think. Amanda was preyed on sexually by her piano teacher when she was a child, but I don't think we're meant to take this song as a detailing of that specific experience. To me it's fiction meant to reflect some of her experiences. I think she was incredibly interested in what not just being sexually indoctrinated does to a child, but being love-bombed and manipulated. The song makes it clear that the relationship was sexual, but that aspect is no the focal point. It's the "love" the mister has sold her. That's why the girl in the song latches on to a focuses on. I'd even go so far as to say she doesn't fight Mister on the sex stuff because she sees it as a means to an end; a way to get Mister to keep loving her.
i cant find any other way to put it but they honestly give me the same feeling that will wood and the tapeworms do, they were such a talented band. i love them so much
Stumbled across a Dresden Dolls record at the Wave Gotik Treffen, 2005 or 2006 or something, and we've been fans ever since. So much genuine passion and authenticity in the performance and music, plus, got to love the brilliant lyrics.
Who is this fucked up woman that she sings about? This song, the 'coin operated boy', I only just found them but I sense a pattern. Is that how she sees herself, is it someone she knows? How she sees women in general? There's a lot of vulnerability, but also what feels like (self)loathing or maybe even misogyny?
this song is about a groomer taking advantage of the narrator, and the lyrics give you an insight on how some people react to that horrible situation. it’s like stockholm syndrome without kidnapping.
Their flippant antics during a song that's centered on a situation so disturbing somehow makes this performance magical.
her experience. she can do what she wants.

I’ve never seen artists so happy to preform! They are awesome!
I’ve been a fan of Coin Operated boy for some time. I never knew it was just a duo. Magic. Oh I do loooooove this stuff.
Among the best bands of all time. Emotional content and great musicianship!

Wish there was no snare a the start, she can't be as loose as normal and it's meant to be rubato. Absolutely in awe of this masterpiece though
Megan Roe Pretty sure the writer can decide what is and is not meant to be there
This song, like many of them, is so subversive imo

Do you scrutinize everything into misanthropic obscurity?

I've read that Amanda was SA'd by her piano teacher when she was a child. That's what this song is about.
