I've never seen two separate people merge together into one music any better than these two. So in-tune with each others performing. Best live band I've seen, hands down.
It's not just music. As I once read, it feels like they are having conversation via their instruments. Both are truly great musicians. Love it. All hail the dresden dolls!
I love it when you can just hear a song and feel the power behind it, without even listening to the lyrics. That, to me, is a real artist. You can just watch these two play and KNOW they love what they're doing. They're truly passionate about it. It's a shame we don't see that more often.
This is my faveorite song by the Dresden Dolls. Well, one of them. When I first saw them in concert, I was so shocked when Brain said something! I used to think he was mute. ^.^
It's been 14 years since I was at this show, but even then I knew it would be the best live performance I'd ever seen. Thank you so much for uploading this amazing memory.
I was there, too! I have the DVD, but I felt like seeing if this particular song was up here, and was pleasantly surprised. One of the most memorable concerts I've ever been to!! Remember the power going out in the whole block for like 2 hours? Hahaha. It was so cool to get to talk to all the other fans while we all waited.
I am a lover of music of a vast variety. Someone close to me introduced me the these guys a few years back and i was really blown away with them. Amanda's voice, both in style and emotional essence, and her playing ability and songwriting are virtually unparalleled in the music world today. BUT i MUST give some props to Brian. That man can bang the drums. I think Bonham probably was tempted to sit up in his grave to give this one a listen. I am VERY impressed. This Band ROCKS my face off!
two body,,one soul.. 8 member band in them..clear hands.. and that soprano and i dont know what yo call it "voice" .. of Amanda .. all are fit together.. amazing Dark cabaret.
I just realized that in this performance, Amanda in the final verse sings "half-hoping I can go now" rather than "half-hoping for a showdown," which is the originally recorded lyric.
This song brings out my inner demons. But not in a way that it corrupts me but in away that it shows its self make me know that i can be a better person than to let my demons control me and to go down a dark road. I didn't understand the song at first but I guess that what it's about. Does anybody else feel that way?
Most poeple think they're growing as a person. Including those "corrupt." I don't think you fall into the category of the latter... But what in god's name does my opinion matter anyway? Fart chicken. Fart fuck big juicy one. Everything turns in to mustard if you talk about it enough
This is honestly the first Real Music I have heard in a long time. You two are amazing human beings. You don't live to please others, you dont live to be famous, you live to create beautiful music and that is what makes you musicians, You two will sure make a part of history.
This song means so much to me. Thanks so much for writing music that hits my heart, my body, my brain, every muscle ... it gets into me, takes over .... You express what I feel. I feel what you express.... Awesome.
who sits in the audience and goes to themselves "im gonna make a stupid noise now so loud everyone can hear it even though there's people trying to perform on stage"
It's the Americanization of the audience. And it's becoming widespread. It's like someone thinks that they need to remind the band that people are enjoying the music for some strange reason. Woot at the end FFS.
what amazing emotive resonance and purity. beauty of which comparison is not found. superb in every way in musical art. i am in awe of these two, the composition and their performance. so happy to be alive in an age where such can be shared and absorbed so widely. so thankful for amanda and brian.
Wow, she is crying! Poor Amanda. I heard that her parents were getting divorced and I know that this song was written for her father. That must have been hard for her
Watching them, it looks like they're having sex rather than performing music. This is, quite possibly, a good thing. Perhaps if more artists put as much passion into their music, the music world would be a much brighter place.
Criminally underrated band
17 years later, and this is still one of my favourite live performances, and the drum solos Brian pulls off... Unforgettable.
I've never seen two separate people merge together into one music any better than these two. So in-tune with each others performing. Best live band I've seen, hands down.
Brian and Amanda are truly extraordinary.
I love the intro. Brian is such a great drummer.
Brian's "Half Jack" Solos are always a highlight of any show. Always.
It's not just music. As I once read, it feels like they are having conversation via their instruments. Both are truly great musicians. Love it. All hail the dresden dolls!
I can’t believe I fvcking finally saw this live tonight at the Portland show 😭
I love it when you can just hear a song and feel the power behind it, without even listening to the lyrics. That, to me, is a real artist. You can just watch these two play and KNOW they love what they're doing. They're truly passionate about it. It's a shame we don't see that more often.
one of the best songs in the world
This song is truly amazing, but when you play it live.....it's magic
This is my faveorite song by the Dresden Dolls. Well, one of them. When I first saw them in concert, I was so shocked when Brain said something! I used to think he was mute. ^.^
Best drumming I've seen since Santana at Woodstock.
WHY CANT MY VOLUME GO HIGHERRRRR fuken amazingggggg!!!
It's been 14 years since I was at this show, but even then I knew it would be the best live performance I'd ever seen. Thank you so much for uploading this amazing memory.

The Dresden Dolls have changed my life.
thats what i call a fullblood drummer!passion 100%
Brian is the best drummer I’ve ever seen, and I’ve seen a lot of drummers. I dearly hope he will play on my album one day
I'm sure he might think about it for $100k.
I loved that drum intro.
Man, Brian is an actual beast. What a legend.
His kit sounds great! I never knew the Dolls had such a drummer!
I felt the emotion, as though it was mine..
And for ten minutes and twenty three seconds... It was..
Brava!

Two of the most talented people you'll ever see or hear.
I just realized that in this performance, Amanda in the final verse sings "half-hoping I can go now" rather than "half-hoping for a showdown," which is the originally recorded lyric.
Damn, I love the intensity in both of their faces, you can practically eat the emotion.
yeah man i know what you're saying, it only happens once in so much time but when it happens there's this kind of magic you can't describe

Obsessed with this song now.
This song means so much to me. Thanks so much for writing music that hits my heart, my body, my brain, every muscle ... it gets into me, takes over .... You express what I feel. I feel what you express.... Awesome.

who sits in the audience and goes to themselves "im gonna make a stupid noise now so loud everyone can hear it even though there's people trying to perform on stage"
drunk people most of the time
It's the Americanization of the audience. And it's becoming widespread. It's like someone thinks that they need to remind the band that people are enjoying the music for some strange reason. Woot at the end FFS.
Brilliant! How are these two not better known?! They're going to be legends sometime...
this makes me want to go write music
there used to be a Good Day live version that was amazing. i miss it.
... that sounds like a GENIUS IDEA. I would very much like to hear that, yes. IT BETTER BE GOOD, THOUGH!!!
maybe not technically.. but just the pure emotion that is put in it.. just wow.
what amazing emotive resonance and purity. beauty of which comparison is not found. superb in every way in musical art. i am in awe of these two, the composition and their performance. so happy to be alive in an age where such can be shared and absorbed so widely. so thankful for amanda and brian.

Well, they didn't completely split up. They're just on a hiatus.

@melissaXmacaroni This song is about her father. His name is Jack.

I would love to go to one of their concerts but alas, my parents won't let me.

Brian Viglione looks incredibly powerful (and hot) in this performance.
Watching them, it looks like they're having sex rather than performing music.
This is, quite possibly, a good thing. Perhaps if more artists put as much passion into their music, the music world would be a much brighter place.
... And one day I'll do a cover on the harp :-)
@FreddoXD I'd say it's EARGASMIC!
