Waterjet etching with an OMAX

Waterjet etching some fine detail in a mallard duck sign at 15,000
psi and 70 IPM travel speed. OMAX Waterjet at Rapid Creek Cutters-Stevensville, MT.

I'm cutting 1/8" and 3/16" aluminum. Etch speed is 70 inches per minute. Your on/off settings for the water and the garnet have to be close to zero to eliminate the craters.

Why not just cnc mill the etching? The etching looks uneven.
