Of Evil Empires and Hope filled Rebellions and A story of a continuous struggle between the Dark Side... and the Light. A story where villians lurk and scheme in the darkest of shadows, and hero’s come from the most unexpected places. Let me tell you the story of the Star Wars. This absolutely beautiful music right here the ending with the sweeping romantic Han & Leia theme (called Han Solo & the Princess) love theme and then the end credits which also include the Imperial march and Yoda's theme is what really did it for me. I fell in love with the Star Wars story/universe. Thank you John Williams (and George Lucas).
The music really told the story of Star Wars. Maybe the that's why the newer movies haven't been recieved as well as some would hope. I like them. But the Music really propelled Star Wars into the Epic that it became. The music really captures the feeling of each theme presented in the story.
John William's music in the last trilogy is bad compared to the original, but that's an unfair comparison. Still one of the greatest soundtracks created this decade. The unfortunate part is actually how they used it rather than the score itself. (Editing)

This is my favourite cue from any of the Star Wars movies, ever. Absolutely beautiful piece. Okay, here's why Williams' Star Wars soundtracks are so well done. The musical cues that begin this piece are the same as the fanfare from A New Hope in the medal scene, but muted and somber obviously. Good callback, use it for another movie's finale but the tone is wildly different. Second, the ESB soundtrack as a whole is the most perfect and cohesive example of the music acting as a character as well as echoing the storytelling. Sheer brilliance.
This song was/is pure perfection. It so perfectly captures the spirit of the series that it's haunting. And yet do all that in 6 Minutes and 26 seconds is incredible. Who else can splice in Vader's march so neatly and pull off so smoothly! You can easily tell he was using the Force when he wrote it!
Just the first 30 seconds of this already take you to a galaxy far far away. It is mesmerizing how inspired and devoted John Williams was when writing the magical music for the six Lucas movies. Now in the Disney sequels I don't hear the magic, nor inspiration anywhere.
Theater screen shows end credits about what type of film was used, what coloring process, prints, which companies were involved in the release... While the soundtrack calls the audience for a standing ovation. Such is the beauty of William's work.
Oh the days when you could go to the cinema and come out feeling numb, like the wind's been knocked out of you, then to spend the rest of the evening and the next few weeks still taking in what you just saw...
There are many great composers, and some who can weave in more subtext and complexity, but nothing can rival the sheer purity of Williams. He tackles the central themes with such elegance and straightforwardness, the rises and falls mirror the fluctuations of the human spirit and go directly into your soul. He can tell you the whole story with a few notes and motifs. Other composers create tracks to frame and provide backdrop to the movies. Williams’s tracks ARE the movies. It is in this regard that he is unparalleled and is not only an icon of music and cinema, but of humanity itself. I still recall the first time I heard the theme from Jurassic Park in its entirety. It was almost a religious moment. For a brief moment, it felt as if I glimpsed the meaning of the struggle of life. Which of course was an underlying theme of the movie. I don’t think I’ve ever felt that way again.
This is the best piece of music not in the original series, or the pre or new series or even of the cartoons, but of every single thing starwars that ever exists and can not ever be superseded.
I feel so blessed to have attended my local premiere in 1980 as well as Star Wars' in 1977. People today cannot imagine how magical these releases were to us and how much the special editions, lamentable prequels etc have diminished these classics.
Jeff,i was the same! Watching them back in 77,80,83 was the best memories of my childhood along with all the action figures, spaceships etc. It was a very special time that i would love to relive it all again.
To a lot of us our Star Wars and childhood aren't Luke, Han or Leia. Its Anakin, Asohka, The Republic, Seperatist, Knights of The Old Republic, Sith Lords and Jedi in their prime. Our childhood toys aren't Tie Fighters or Imperial Star Destroyers our childhoods will always be Jedi Starfighters, Jedi Cruisers, Vulture Droids etc.
I was went to Leicester Square when Star Wars opened, saw it 6 times and Empire 7 times. Audience was enhralled, I've never been the same since. That first shot of the empire cruiser...
A romantic piece that shifts to such a powerful montage of every major theme from the movie...I'd kick so many others into the pit to keep John Williams.
The look on Admiral Piett face as Darth Vader walks of the bridge. He sure thought he was dead. Darth Vader, said nothing as his silence of defeat followed him!!!!!
This music gives me very similar feelings to that from another great movie ending, The Fellowship of the Ring. That sense that the heroes have lost, for the time being, but the battle wages on and hope still lives. Time is rushing onwards and so, along with it, are the heroes, off to face their next adventure in the hopes that it will be a victory. Always gives me the goosebumps.
It's Corellian smuggler's gear, most probably stored onboard the Falcon. I always took it that, seeing they both are about the same height and build, Lando changed into more fitting gear after he became wanted by the Empire.
The ESB & Raiders soundtracks are the most perfect & beautiful of all times... it's that simple... I truly believe John Williams & Phil Jackson are the most legendary men to ever walk the earth.....🌚
Empire strikes back has to be one of, if not the best out of the star wars films. The dark theme of it, the storyline and of course the iconic "I am your father" scene. Also the music at 1:00 just fits so well with the ending. Such a damn good film
This is my absolute favorite rendition of the Imperial March. It sounds more intimidating without the drums and the overemphasis of the bass, like the Empire is just rubbing it in your face that they won.
I was born in 1983. When I was a kid I'd watch this on our old BETA MAX player. This is probably my all time favorite movie EVER. The music. The story. Everything instantly takes me back to a kid in the 80s sitting in front of the TV on a Saturday afternoon with some popcorn.

I came for Peter Mayhew who sadly passed away today.

This is the best piece of music not in the original series, or the pre or new series or even of the cartoons, but of every single thing starwars that ever exists and can not ever be superseded.
Han Solo and the Princess. Yoda's Theme. The Imperial March. This is the best musical composition ever.
I'm a 41 year old British bloke but I must admit I get tears in my eyes when I hear this song. What fantastic films the original versions are.
Trust in the force let it be a guide for you through uncertain times, May you one day find the balance you seek.
May the Force be with you always.
I feel so blessed to have attended my local premiere in 1980 as well as Star Wars' in 1977. People today cannot imagine how magical these releases were to us and how much the special editions, lamentable prequels etc have diminished these classics.
Jeff Duke Well you don't have to like the new stuff but never think the power of the original classics has diminished. The Force is strong with them.
@@chancellorpalpatineakathes6130 My childhood was both, but I preferred the Originals.
I was went to Leicester Square when Star Wars opened, saw it 6 times and Empire 7 times. Audience was enhralled, I've never been the same since. That first shot of the empire cruiser...
May 4th 2021! Happy Star Wars Day!
I love the young guy with the clipboard. Gives him the head turn after he's walked past. 😂🤣
The film that turned a 1977 fantasy movie into a phenomenon.
You are right. And a a licence to print money. Up to our days.
"Why is Lando wearing Han's clothes?"
"Seriously, watch the actual movie. Lando is wearing Han's clothes in this scene. It's really weird."
Well, he didn't have time to pack when leaving Bespin, did he? 😅
It's Corellian smuggler's gear, most probably stored onboard the Falcon. I always took it that, seeing they both are about the same height and build, Lando changed into more fitting gear after he became wanted by the Empire.
I guess it's because both Han and Lando are scoundrels.
He was trying to comfort Leia 😉
The Princess is with the people of Alderaan now. RIP Carrie.
This theme gets me every. single. time.
Don't leave us now, Carrie :'(
Geralt Marston

This is my absolute favorite rendition of the Imperial March. It sounds more intimidating without the drums and the overemphasis of the bass, like the Empire is just rubbing it in your face that they won.
The best end title of the whole saga! From 5:53 is something epic! and the Imperial March is unique
5:51 is how the last Star Wars should end
Joshua V. Harding to bad it didn’t
5:52 John Williams should bring that fanfare back in The Rise of Skywalker
Mat7920 H He did!
Unfortunately it was the same one heard from the other films
I was born in 1983. When I was a kid I'd watch this on our old BETA MAX player. This is probably my all time favorite movie EVER. The music. The story. Everything instantly takes me back to a kid in the 80s sitting in front of the TV on a Saturday afternoon with some popcorn.
I want this to play at my funeral!
5:36 - 5:50 John Williams consistently delivers masterpieces, but man was he feeling inspired on that bit. It's almost impossible to listen to that without raising your hands as if you were conducting the orchestra.
