  • There are a lot of adjustable templates you can buy, most of them made of aluminum, but they are not what we can call cheap, so I am gonna make my own using plywood.

      I agree. A brilliant way of making the T slot without having to buy a T slot cutting bit which are quite expensive here in the UK. It was their cost which was putting me off making a jig but the way is now clear for me to proceed. Many thanks indeed.

    May I ask why you selected the Kress over say a Bosch Colt 1 HP variable speed router? I know it's not a fair comparison as one is a Woodworker in router and the Kress is a highly engineered mill. The Kress with 2 sealed ball bearing as well as the stainless steel mount are very strong design elements that almost guarantee a longer life than a commercially available router, but 4 times more expensive.

      hola Francisco, la verdad es que depende un poco de la zona en que lo pidas, por aquí le llaman contrachapado de abedul( birch) el que es más ligero suele llamarse contrachapado de okumen. Mira este link:

    That's a real cool idea to make a routing template. I made mine based on Trend Varijig and I find it quite useful to cut accurate rectangles with the router.
    What I like the most in your design is that there are no grooves or tracks on the top and you have a flat surface for the router to slide on. But if you want to use the Friction Clamps (used with Trend Varijig), is it possible to change the design slightly to incorporate the tracks on the bottom side?

    • @Paoson_Woodworking

    for the motor can i use a power drill
    with this base?

    • @Paoson_Woodworking
      @Paoson_Woodworking  8 років тому

      you can use a power drill to make holes , but not as router not has enough speed

      and if you have the router bits can you use it?

    • @Paoson_Woodworking
      @Paoson_Woodworking  8 років тому +2

      a drill does not have enough speed, a router rotates at about 30.000 rpm, and a drill only about 4.000

    I'm used to larger, corded routers ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxfQ5_mgwq6PcudJvAH25t-I4D-3cTPz4z so this was a different experience for me. Basically, this is an incredibly sweet machine, fits well in the hand, etc. It has slightly less power than I'm used to, but that's understandable. Maneuvering freehand takes some practice. These days, it's especially nice to be able to avoid power cords. This is above the level of a hobbyist but below a pro level.

    to set a good example, I would suggest using proper personal safety equipment and practices. eye glasses, keeping hands free of blades, keep long sleeves out of the way, don't wear bracelets (especially loose ones). etc. A router bit would have saved a lot of effort

  • @deanw8206

    Why do so many experienced wood workers wear gloves next to power saw blades? The glove will do nothing but inhibit your dexterity and situational awareness. A sawtooth can pull your whole hand into that blade if it catches part of your glove.

    Nice build but you should realize a considerable portion of your viewers would sooner hear silence than your (or anyone else's) choice of music.
