know that were skipped in this episode:
1) Albert is stronger than Ryueen(Ayanokoji
said it while fighting ryueen)
2) Ayanokoji intentionally let himself get hit
by ryueen. And also by albert in the LN.
3) When ibuki was throwing kicks, Ayanokoji
repeatedly saw her panties
4) In LN, Ishizaki threw a punch at Ayanokoji
and he caught it with his hand and then
started squeezing ishizaki's fist with his hand
and ishizaki was deep in pain( proof that his
grip strength is much more than 60)
5) Ayanokoji could have knocked down
ryueen in one punch but he wanted ryueen to
experience fear and thatť's why he used light
punches.

Just so you're aware, S3 is already confirmed for next year. They announced S2 and S3 in the same trailer, so you don't have to worry about hoping for a continuation.
That said, absolutely fantastic episode. This season is an example of a show where you dedicate an entire season's budget to a single episode and it's totally fine. This was definitely the most anticipated scene of the series for fans of the LN, and it absolutely overdelivered. Like you said, for series where there's not much movement or action going on, it's okay to have more limited animation for most episodes as long as you absolute *bring it* for the episodes that require it. Could not be more appreciative of the clear time and effort they put into this episode, and shows a clear respect of the series by Lerche.
In the LN, he says that he feels pain, but that's it. He's gone through so much stuff in his childhood to now and suffered so much that there's no room for such emotions as fear for him. That's the reason why he was the lone survivor in his generation of WR students.
Where was it said that he was the last of his generation? I read the Ln but i don’t remember it ever saying that. Although tbf ive been keeping up with the volumes for a good 5 years now i definitely don’t remember everything that was said

Can't get over how sick the choreography was this ep. I also love how much more realistic Ayanokoji's fighting was then 90% of anime. Especially near the end with Ryuen, where he slips, does a one two, then does a shoulder throw, a full mount and finally ground and pound. All real MMA techniques. That just goes to show the pure training Ayanokoji must've gone through and the work the animation and choreography team put in for that fight.

You’re correct, Ayanokouji did purposefully wait (in the LN it says 30 mins) before going to help Kei. He deliberately let her get tortured before going to save her.
Yeah cause he thought kei would tell dragon boi the Mastermind's name. But she didn't so he changed his mind.

In the LN Ayanokojis inner monolog tells us a lot more first he compares himself to Ryuen when they talk about fear, he realizes the biggest difference between them is that he has never known fear while Ayanokoji has. Back in the white room he felt it every day until eventually it stoped being fear and he just felt numb. Second when beating Ryuen and he is talking about Ayanokojis emotion it is implied Ayanokoji realizes he is feeling something but refusing to show it, something because of Kei.
As someone that has been reading the LN (just started volume 4, which is the start of S2 of the anime) I can tell that Ayanokoji does have emotions, but his traumatic past in the WR has made unable to express those emotions
In the LN, Kiyopon literally was looking at her panties the whole time, got bored and proceeds to CHOKE SLAM Ibuki making her pass out

Nice reaction ! There is something the anime changed from the LN, actually the anime depicted the other Class C students as being quite fine doing what they did to Karuizawa and trying to hurt Ayanokoji. But in fact in the LN the guy who was under Ryueen's orders was quite horrified to do this and obeyed only because of his fear of Ryueen, but he truely didn't wish to do this kind of stuff. Only Ryueen was composed and calm about all of this. Also, when Ayanokoji arrived they were in a situation where no side could speak out to the school about what's happening, because it would mean that Kei's secret and the identity of the mastermind would be revealed to everyone, but Ryueen's violent actions would be exposed (which could cause expulsion), that's why Ryuuen concluded that whatever happens, nobody will talk about it to the school, however he never anticipitated that this would work the opposite way when Ayanokoji would destroy them by himself.
Also Albert's strength was quite nerfed as in the LN, Kiyo blocked one of his punch at full power and he felt quite a bit of pain as Albert's physical strength is way beyond the strength of an average high schooler, he then decisively hit him in the throat and finished him off with a kick. It's suspected that Ryueen held his own longer than Albert only because Kiyotaka didn't want to finish him off too quickly and was holding back a lot.
And Kiyotaka also handled Ibuki more brutally in the LN by slamming her hand on the ground to knock her out.

biggest plot twist this episode isnt even the fighting....its the class president WANTING his sister in school council
This fight will be remembered for more than 20 years...
The anime kept in every good line of dialogue.. except the one I was waiting for lol. It was supposed to be during the final beatdown on Ryuen when Ayanokoji was just wailing down blow after blow until Ryuen expressed fear.
It was this little line of dialogue in Ayanokoji's inner thoughts. "You thought you could get me by manipulating my heart. But unfortunately for you.. I don't have a heart to be manipulated." It was something along those lines, but damn it was ice cold.
The anime also didn't keep in Ayanokoji's inner thoughts during Ryuen's whole dialogue about not feeling fear. He mentions that he did once know what fear felt like and how it felt to lose, but now all he feels is cold.
Which means once upon a time back when he was a child.. Ayanokoji did in fact have emotions and the capability to express it, but due to all he's experienced in the White Room its all been suppresed to absolutely nothing.

When Ryuen was talking about 24/7 attacks he really meant it, he planed to wear him down throught drive and determination saying he would attacking hagging out with friends to and from school in his room while he's eating even while he is on the toilet. He would draw attention the thing Ayanokoji wants to avoid most.

Hmmm... Season 3(next year) will put an end to Year 1. The books are about halfway through Year 2, so they have material to do a Season 4 right now. If we took the fact that each year takes 3 Seasons, then a total of 9 would be a close number of what we could get.
Ayanokoji had to step over and abandon so many people in his youth that when asked how many times he has done it he compared it to when walking you dont count the pebble on the ground you leave behind

For the first time in this season ,i can easily say that the anime outperformed the LN ...like everything from the setup to conclusion was on point plus the improvisations they did ,omg ,i was like so satisfied with them. It literally felt like a Seinen street fight and ngl the narrative balance and the action sequences were in sync ...
I hoped Ayano would say his dialogue of not having a heart to manipulate (the exact one) but it was pretty much clarified one way or another ...Kei's monologue was kept short ,idk the reason but anyway ..and as for Ryuuen ,dude got his ass whooped and i savored the every second of it
Edit - forgot to mention it but the promise Ayano made to Manabu was totally different than what they showed in anime ..i'm not gonna give spoilers here but the anime actually jumped a gun with horikita's involvement in council nevertheless it was well executed
Now you see why a lot of people like Kei and think she's best girl. She's so loyal even in a traumatic situation.

I just saw this episode and wanted to know what other people thought of this episode....... "so I tried waterboarding myself" .......What!?!?!?!?
I liked Koji’s strategy here. He dealt with Ibuki and Ishizaki the quickest knowing they weren’t of any consequence to him. It was about getting them out of the way. The tougher fight was Albert who obviously has a bigger frame and is harder to knock down. So he focused on attacking his joints and using kicks to knock him out whenever he was in a vulnerable enough position. Now Ryuennis about psychological warfare. He is relentless and ruthless and seeks to dominate through violence. Ryuen thoroughly believing he is the top dog because of that think, Koji had to make sure he would never interfere with him again. So it was about breaking him down. Unlike Ryuen, he didn’t use overwhelming force. He applied pressure to where it was needed. He threw off his momentum by making sure his first attack never hit him. Then after the attempt by Ryuen grabbing him (an example of his tenacity), he quickly dealt with that and knocked him to the wall. I really believe that Koji could’ve beat Ryuen sooner, but he couldn’t beat his mindset. So the rest of the fight was making sure none of Ryuen’s attacks worked on him, even when he was in a “disadvantageous position”. He was waiting to see what made him tick, and that was when the fight became one sided. He continued to sew in fear into Ryuen after seeing what he wanted out Koji. All to prove that this meant nothing to him. That everything Ryuen does is just in his way. To push the point even further, there’s nothing scarier to see someone so impressive to show no emotion at all. Especially when they are beating the crap out of you and it’s almost inhuman.
Except Ryuen let Ayanokoji beat him, because his objective was Ayanokoji winning, then experiencing fear realizing that Ryuen would still be after him the next day. Ayanokoji realized this and held back his punches enough for Ryuen to know this. Ryuen felt fear because Ayanokoji would still be the same person the next day and the one after that. Since Ryuens method of control isn't violence, its persistence.
It’s not a spoiler because it should be somehow visible now, so I’m going to put this out there. At the end when ayanokouji talks to kei his face is split into 2 sides, a bright side and a dark side. That’s great visual story telling, taking the fact into account that the anime can’t cover so much because they don’t have enough time.

Why do you think Ayanokoji got Horokita Manabu as a witness even though it put him in debt and especially sence a camera would have worked even better? A common theory is he did this to create a reas to continue his relationship with Kei, a task that could require her assistance.
Ayanokoji rejected the fact that he wants the connection with kei, and simultaneously set up a situation where he would require kei’s assistance, thus maintaining the connection
Koji’s hardcore coping.

Waterboarding makes your body think you're drowning and gives you the physiological response almost like a reflex. If you don't know what's going on it's easy to think it's not as sinister as it actually is.

Someone from the anime site I watch on said that in the LN, Ayanokoji's inner dialogue was saying that if he really wanted, he could've beaten everyone with 1 to 2 hits, but chose to do it this way to send a more clear message and to get the point in through Ryuen's skull, which if he knocked him out quickly, he might've thought it was a fluke and continued. But now, Ryuen might have a newly instilled fear of Ayanokoji, and I would believe it if he stopped messing with him after this, or became a pawn himself voluntarily.
Ayanokoji couldn't beat Albert in a fair fight and had to smash him in the throat. Also ended up injuring his arm blocking Alberts punches
