You’re too young to remember but Hootie and the Blowfish was one of the biggest bands of the 90’s and he was their lead singer. Now he’s enjoying a very successful country career. Check out black country artist Charlie Pride. He’s a member of the country music hall of fame and has more number one hits than any other country artist. Country fans would absolutely embrace more black artists, but how many black kids do you hear say they want to play country music? lol
Homesick4Hills his version of “Kaw Liga” is the first country song I really liked, I still remember hearing it going down the road near my house riding with my dad
Tezza Crow girl... u had me busting up. That’s me too. 74 but still rocking .. I look in the mirror and tell that bitch in there who. Gave u permission to wreck my body. I used be a fox. Lol
Love love love this song! I never get tired of it. And yes, check out Charlie Pride, one of the top country singers. He too is black but he is sick of that fact being pointed out. He is one of the greatest period!
Aaron Neville !!! He has such a unique voice. His voice is one you could listen to all day long. Used to years, ago, you knew who was singing just by their voice, or song. Now days everyone just about sounds alike. When Charlie Pride would come in, all you had to do was hear was, You got to kiss an Angel this morning, and everything would just shut down and you’d start singing !!! Shoot, I guess we’d sing all day long if we were able. I’m a everybody music listener and crooner. I like Pop, Rock, Country, some Opera, , Heavy Metal, I’m not in to rap, to much nasty talking and degrading to women and young girls and boys. I want to listen to music. I’m older, so I want what I want. I’m ranting, my radio is on Lady A is on with some smooth Country Love song on. Got my cup of coffee sittin on the patio, Ahhhh what a way to Start the day. Y’all have a great Day
When Darius Rucker was in College in SC, he was the front man for a group called Hootie and the Blowfish. It was kind of 90’s rock. It was pretty good , a lot of it charted, Hootie (Darius) was technically rock before he was country. Damn good country at that. You will enjoy his music. I know you will. All of it. He’s a good one.
Hootie and the Blowfish were more than pretty good. They were excellent. I am glad Darius Rucker has a successful country career, but I miss Hootie. Darius went solo when, in my opinion, Hootie was still peaking as a rock band.
Darius' name was and is NOT Hootie. In the 60's there was a British band named Herman's Hermits. There was NO Herman; the lead singer was named Peter Noone. The name Darius is a hundreds of years old name from Greece; he was a King.
When Darious was mega popular he would take his guitar to the hospital. He would go where people were seriously I'll. He would sing and play his guitar for them just one on one. He is a beautiful human.
@Brian Powers I’m sorry for your loss. ♥️ My son and I would dance to this song when he was 5, he’s almost 10 now and we still like to dance to it now and then. Love my little boy!
OMG Darius is one of my absolute FAVORITE musicians. His voice is just so wonderful to me. You've got to check out Hootie and the Blowfish man! Start with Let Her Cry and Hold My Hand. I'll guide ya from there lol love your reaction vids. You've become one of my favorites 😍 keep em coming
You and your brother are "expanding your horizons." If we ALL open our eyes and ears to different things we'd all get along better. There is a great big world out there. We may have different taste..but we are all brothers and sisters..from a grandmother who occasionally listens to rap and hip hop.
I prefer the Old Crow Medicine Show version of this song, but this is an awesome cover none the less. They're really two different styles of the same song.
I have the utmost respect for Darius for all he's done, but covering this song is the only mark I can put against him. Mainly because OCMS got lawyered into no profits on this and I'm sure Darius made bank. The OCMS version is the only version I bump, and the only version you'll catch me singing along to.
Darius is just an incredible talent! Love this song! Great reaction video and so happy you liked this song! Please do more Darius songs, and Hootie and the Blowfish songs!
Awesome. Listen to his "Hold My Hand" and "Time" when he was with Hootie & the Blowfish! Love Darius! He's such a talented & versatile musician. Check out Charlie Parker too!
You know, I've watched your reaction several times to this because I love it so much but nobody has ever mentioned why Wagon Wheel is used as the metaphor. If you've ever gotten a wagon stuck, you know that you have to have people on each side, rocking the wagon back and forth in order to get enough velocity to rock it over the edge and back up to a level surface.
Darius Rucker has one of those unique voices that you recognize immediately and it touches you. I was a huge fan of Hootie and the Blowfish and was a bit surprised when he transitioned to country music, but I respected his choice and he has won me over. Big, big fan.
This song makes my cry my nephew loved this song he was killed in a hit and run but he would say turn it up when this was playing and he would jam like one thing to it
Great reaction, man. Darius was a big star in "college rock" back in the 90s. I haven't heard a lot of his country, but Hootie And the Blowfish always had a grain of country. This song is amazing and the video is fantastic too. I absolutely love it. This isn't the only example of a great rendition/ video of this song. Old Crow Medicine Show hhyt as a great rendition/ video too.
I've been going back to listen to the majority of your reactions and I think you haven't done The Charlie Daniels Band - "The Devil Went Down to Georgia". Please add it to your list. Also, look up Charlie Pride, "Kiss an Angel Good Morning"! He was a very popular black country artist that my grandma loved. He still played in Branson, MO when I was a kid and she'd take us some times.
Darius is from Charleston, SC! He was in a rock band and switched over to country. As pointed out to you down below there are several black country artist/singers besides Dariur Rucker. Older Country -Charlie Pride Modern Country - Kane Brown, Big Boy Troy, Jimmie Allen, Patrella Ann Boner..... etc, etc Now there are ALSO some great country & rap collaborations! Florida Georgia line W/Nelly singing "Cruise" Tim McGraw and Nelly singing "Over and Over again" Jason Aldean/Ludacris "Dirtroad Anthem" Snoop Dog W/ Willie Nelson "Superman" Taylor Swift W/ T Pain "Thug Story" Kenny Roger's W/Coolio "The Gambler" Remix Wycliffe Jean W/ Kenny Rogers "Pharoahe Monch Dub Plate" Carrie Underwood W / Ludacris "The Champion" You should check these out and react to them!!
Check out some of the songs from Lionel Ritchies cd Tuskegee. His songs adapt well to country, and some of the top country stars sing his most famous songs, including Kenny Rogers singing "Lady". There's also a TV special on UA-cam with country singers singing Ritchies songs. It's a great show.
The first Black Country singer I know of was Charlie Pride. I can’t really recommend a song by him because I’ve only heard a few, and that was a long time ago.
I love y’all. When I first found your videos, I thought they are going to learn some old school music, yes you did but then I started hearing songs I had never heard. I’m a 56 years old white southern lady and y’all have introduced me to so much musical talent I didn’t know existed. ☮️✌️.
Darius Rucker was lead singer for the rock band hottie and the now fish back In The 90s. They were super popular with Grammys. Look him up. Country music loves him too.
He was lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist of rock band Hootie & the Blowfish back in the 80’s. Crossed over to country & became the first black artist to reach number one on the Hot Country Songs charts since Charley Pride in 1983. Really good country performer, too. This is one great tune. A good foot tapper & sing along.
Ever tried Charley Pride? First popular black country singer from the 60's and 70's Try "Kiss an Angel Good Morning" He won country music's entertainer of the year and top male vocalist of the year in 1971 with that song.
Love Darius. Seen him many times since he is from where I live. Seen him many times as Hootie and the blowfish. They used to play at a big concert with a lot of bands back in the day called The 96 Wave Fest. Good times those were.
Darius Rucker, Let Her Cry from a profound album, “Cracked Rear View”. So many hits. Educate yourselves on this rock album!! Hardly any better in the 90’s.
He has albums in pop R&B and country he truly is a music man. Plus ya gotta love Si from Duck Dynasty driving the truck and the rest of the crew showing up too
You and your brother are an inspiration to our generation of music. There are songs I'm being introduced to for the first time. I will be on this journey with you guys to the END!
Darius Rucker is one of a kind and his color has nothing to do with that statement! His unique voice combined with all the different styles he can completely make his own! Love this guy!
You’re too young to remember but Hootie and the Blowfish was one of the biggest bands of the 90’s and he was their lead singer. Now he’s enjoying a very successful country career. Lisa Meunier yes!! To Charlie pride!!
George Strait has the most number 1 hits. I think he has 60 or 61. Charlie still has a lot though at 29.
Met him when he was with Hootie and the Blow Fish at Rock for Dough in Augusta Georgia during The Masters. Super nice guy!!!
Charlie Pride was amazing! As a kid in the mid '90s, I got to see him perform live in Branson, Missouri. Great singer!
Homesick4Hills his version of “Kaw Liga” is the first country song I really liked, I still remember hearing it going down the road near my house riding with my dad
I'm an old, toothless, white granny who has the utmost respect for your willingness to be open to new music. Love you to pieces. Keep doing you.
This is the sweetest comment ever!
Tezza Crow girl... u had me busting up. That’s me too. 74 but still rocking .. I look in the mirror and tell that bitch in there who. Gave u permission to wreck my body. I used be a fox. Lol
You gals!🤣😂🤪😘😘
Love love love this song! I never get tired of it. And yes, check out Charlie Pride, one of the top country singers. He too is black but he is sick of that fact being pointed out. He is one of the greatest period!
Same here but i have my teeth 💖💖💖
Bro, Darius Rucker could sing the phonebook and it would be a banger
I would listen to him read a list of ingredients off a box of cereal.
Haha!!! TRUE
Yessss!
Darius Rucker and Morgan Freeman!!
Favorite song thanks for sharing
Let's teach my man about some black country singers. Charlie Pride "Kiss an angel good morning" is a good start. He is one of the all-time greats
Yes he was and he was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2000
Neil McCoy, Tony Jackson, Aaron Neville put a song or 2 on the country charts.
Second Chaynce is pretty great too
How about Kane Brown?
Aaron Neville !!! He has such a unique voice. His voice is one you could listen to all day long. Used to years, ago, you knew who was singing just by their voice, or song. He is a great entertainer, he started as lead singer for Hootie and the Blowfish. Love Darius Rucker. Great talent!
Love Hootie and the blowfish
DARIUS HAS SO MUCH TALENT. RENAISSANCE EYES❤❤❤
Loved Hootie! Saw Darius at The Grand Ole Opry a couple of years ago - he brought the house down!
Hootie and the blowfish a lot of people don’t know that
Key n Peele got a funny ass sketch of this man. But I love this man's voice too
Charlie Pride was also a Black Country singer and was awesome! And did you notice the family from Duck Dynasty?
Jan Summerford and did You Notice Lady Antebellum? In the caddy at the end?
Texas Magnolia yes I did. My late husband bounced at a couple of Hootie and the Blowfish concerts ❤️
My kids went to school with Darius at Middleton HS, Charleston SC. The mid 1980’s. Hometown treasure
Jimmie Allen is great, too.
Also see: Staind and Aaron Lewis. Our favorite (and most recognizable) 90’s voices went country and it has been glorious.
Darius' name was and is NOT Hootie. In the 60's there was a British band named Herman's Hermits. There was NO Herman; the lead singer was named Peter Noone. The name Darius is a hundreds of years old name from Greece; he was

In 4 yrs I've not felt joy like I feel watching twins. I needed this more than you can know. Thank you.
Me too. what an unexpected life line. thamk you.
I feel the same
When Darious was mega popular he would take his guitar to the hospital. He would go where people were seriously I'll. He would sing and play his guitar for them just one on one. He is a beautiful human.
If u live here, move and if u aren't a resident than stay where u are, we won't miss u. If u aren't part of the solution u are the problem
That's where it's at!
I danced with my mom to this song before she passed. It will always hold a big space in my heart
@Brian Powers
I’m sorry for your loss.

Love you...Darius is amazing!!!!!!!!!! Glad you appreciate like we do!
You and your brother are "expanding your horizons." If we ALL open our eyes and ears to different things we'd all get along better. There is a great big world out there. We may have different taste..but we are all brothers and sisters..from a grandmother who occasionally listens to rap and hip hop.
Amen to that!

Charlie Pride was an amazing black country artist! "Kiss and Angel Good Morning" His voice was so pure and clear!
Darius is one of my favorite artists to see live, and I've seen many. If you get an opportunity to see him in concert- take it.
I prefer the Old Crow Medicine Show version of this song, but this is an awesome cover none the less. They're really two different styles of the same song.
I do too. OCMS just does something for me! Would love to see them react to it.
OCMS is also a cover of this song. Original version and written by Bob Dylan.
Darius and OCMS sang this together one night at The Grand Ole Opry.
I have the utmost respect for Darius for all he's done, but covering this song is the only mark I can put against him. Mainly because OCMS got lawyered into no profits on this and I'm sure Darius made bank. The OCMS version is the only version I bump, and the only version you'll catch me singing along to.
Good ole Darius. . . . Love that guy.
Darius is just an incredible talent! Love this song! Great reaction video and so happy you liked this song! Please do more Darius songs, and Hootie and the Blowfish songs!

This song was written by Bob Dylan in the 60s. A band named Old Crow Medicine Show has the best version, no disrespect to Darius.
Darius Rucker has one of those unique voices that you recognize immediately and it touches you. I was a huge fan of Hootie and the Blowfish and was a bit surprised when he transitioned to country music, but I respected his choice and he has won me over. Big, big fan.
There are A LOT of cameos is that video!

Great reaction, man.
Darius was a big star in "college rock" back in the 90s.
I haven't heard a lot of his country, but Hootie And the Blowfish always had a grain of country.

Darius Rucker could sing the phone book and sound awesome.
Darius used to be Hootie from Hootie and the blow fish
Well, that was an enjoyable way to start my day. The video makes me home-sick for my small home town! (getting tired of the Seattle area, lol)
Yes Seattle has lost some of its luster.

The first Black Country singer I know of was Charlie Pride. I can’t really recommend a song by him because I’ve only heard a few, and that was a long time ago.
Kiss an angel good morning was a great song!
Thanks for showing me something new. I love his voice! Making me smile on a rainy day.

Darius Rucker has one of the most beautiful voices I've ever heard ♥️
all his songs are great he was lead singer of hootie and the blowfish in 90s one of my favorite bands
Love me some Darius Rucker, whether in country mode or as part of Hootie and the Blowfish. :-)
Ever tried Charley Pride? First popular black country singer from the 60's and 70's
Try "Kiss an Angel Good Morning" He won country music's entertainer of the year and top male vocalist of the year in 1971 with that song.
Was never the biggest Hootie fan (but even I got to admit they were HUGE in the 90s), but you have to respect Darius' vocals because he can sure sing.
Check out Let Her Cry or Hold My Hand by Hootie and the Blowfish
You MUST listen to anything by Hootie and the Blowfish. Darius Rucker is the lead singer. Very popular in the 90s
"Come Back Song" and "Alright" are two great ones. He has such a smooth voice, loved him when he was with Hootie and the Blowfish!
Music is so diverse. Love that you're listening to so many different kinds of music! ✌️🎸
This is a song by Old Crow Medicine Show originally. Wonderful band

You HAVE to react to Hootie and the Blowfish-Let Her Cry
Same dude. SO GOOD!
Go look up Let Her Cry, by Hootie and the Blowfish...Darius sang lead.
Check out his roots ... Hootie and the Blowfish. So good!
Should definitely check out Darius Rucker when he sang with Hootie and the Blowfish!
Darius Rucker is one of a kind and his color has nothing to do with that statement! His unique voice combined with all the different styles he can completely make his own! Love this guy!
Listen to some Hootie and the Blowfish songs. Darius Rucker's voice is synonymous with the 90s for me.
