    I tried this universal backpack system. After fighting with adjustments for over an hour trying to make it comfortable I took it off and put the OG straps back on. Enormous difference. The straps that came with the stand are way better for me. Thanks for the review, though.

    Try moving down the top and middle connections down 1 rung. The climber will sit higher and you dont have to unbuckle it to nest it together or take it apart.

      Hey MrShark! I have this system on the Summit Max 180 which is a bigger stand with longer platform. That being said, no I didn’t have any trouble with hitting the stand while I walk. I push the cables all the way in to prevent this. Thanks for watching 👍🏻

    I know you did several videos on this, and also how to carry a backpack with it. But how about showing us how to nest everything together with this universal backpack along with the foot rest, the front bag, and the backpack. Or is that not possible?
    Also, this is not with the folding seat that the stand comes with!!

      Hey Robert! I'll see if I can find some time to get a video like that put together... It's a busy time of year and I have products sitting here waiting for reviews (plus I'd like to get my own hunting prep done). I did this demo on the Summit 180 Max climbing treestand which has a wraparound seat. That's why it looks different. Thanks for watching.

      @@mountainbuck hey Ty for the quick reply. That is much appreciated. And man I hope I didn’t make it sound like I was being demanding? I didn’t mean for my comment to come off like that. Sorry if it did my friend. Of course take care of your season prep and all that stuff. Priorities…ALWAYS! I have the Summit Goliath, and I’ve just never seen a video concerning that stand with the original folding seat, the universal footrest, the front Summit bag, and a backpack is all. I’ve seen mod videos, and a few videos on how people nest it, but they are never with “ALL” the accessories, and the original folding seat. For years I have used a homemade deer cart that my father designed with a friend at work. He was a supervisor and highly skilled CNC machinist for a company that made valves and other parts for aircraft. They used aircraft aluminum to make the deer cart. I load everything up on that and head in. It’s a one of a kind deer cart and it’s been around for over 30 years now. So lightweight, yet superior to anything on the market as far as strength goes. Very rarely do I put my stand on my back, but for those few times that I do during the season it gets complicated. Love your videos and I hope you have your best season yet this year. Best of luck. I’m so getting this I love my stand but the original straps were not something got be desired. I got a deer about 2 miles back in thick woods last year so had to carry her out strapped to my tree stand. The two thinks I kept saying in my head while walking back were “just a little bit farther” and “why the hell don’t these straps have a cross chest brace to hold these straps on my chest better.

    where u rolling from> I hunt out of Elk County Pennsylvania ! Been using the summit open shot since a few years after it came out and I love it! So i love the gear ur repping! Great videos! Would have love to know a lil more on the weight but still u do a good job of showing the product from all angles so you can see it off from every angle as its attached ...Because this is a different looking one but Game Plan Gear made the original one of these which i have on my open shot! Its also very nice but this one looks to me a step above! I have the regular footrest and i watched ur video on the new 16.5 universal...so i plan to ge that to attached to my open shots already installed foot rest! Last year was the first time in my climbing days i fell out of the tree! Pitch black 19 feet or so landed on my feet and then straight to my bud! Had a red head lamp on so all i saw was flashed of red and heard and felt branches breaking! So in saying that I love all these improvements I see in summits gear every year! And your videos help get that work out there in a great way! Thanks man and keep up the awesome work! And i do use a safety harness i just don't climb with it! I feel its to loud ...I attach it normally as soon as i get to my spot...In this instance I did not ...Lesson learned! And i know about the slide ropes and I do have a few but they are a decent amount of weight to carry along with my stand and camo gear and gear....I like 5 10 140lbs so aint a big guy so i gotta lighten the load cause i am big deep woods public land hunter i don't shoot em small! Never have ! Never will!

      Hey Josh! Thanks so much man. I’ve been working hard on the channel and trying to put out good content. I’m in the Pocono mountains, but would love to get out to Elk County sometime. I hear it’s beautiful and it’s crazy to think we have Elk in PA! I do get out to the SW part of the state for rifle each year. Yeah, Summit is the best in my opinion and they are always innovating and trying to improve their products. That is super scary that you fell! Have you checked out the Summit Pro Harness? There aren’t any buckles on the tree and that Prusik hitch makes for a quick and quiet climb. Thanks for your support and watching. I really appreciate it. Best of luck this season👍🏻

    First of all. Great video on a new item. For us users on our maiden voyage on this item. Can you slow it down a bit and show a little more detail. I had to pause the video numerous times to install the system on my summit climber. I was also wondering if you leave this system hanging on the platform while climbing like the stock system? Or, do you totally leave it off? Thanks for your instructions on this new item.

    • @mountainbuck
      @mountainbuck  2 роки тому

      Hey Blake, thanks for the input! Sorry if I went too fast! I tried to show the first two buckles installed at real time and then speed it up to show the placement of the last four. Also, to answer your question, yes, I leave it installed and hanging while climbing. I think it should do just fine hanging there (like the stock straps) and this way, you won’t have to pack it away. Thanks for watching 👍🏻

      @@mountainbuck it was the older style summit straps. No elastic. I was working down a holler near Skyline, AL before twilight. I grabbed a small tree to help step down, small step, but slipped on wet leaves. Didn’t even fall, just slipped a little. The pressure of the rigid strap popped it out. No cell. I did have a buddy on a 2-way. I put all my gear down quick. Couldn’t stand up long due to gravity just being too painful on the shoulder out of socket. My buddy made it over and we were trying to figure out a plan. Climbing up a holler several hundred feet was going to be pretty painful. I sure didn’t try the Mel Gibson thing from Lethal Weapon! Anyway, while I was laying there I extended my arm straight and walked it up slowly using my fingers. Then I heard a pop and my pain went from a 8/10 to 2/10. Sold the climber later! Although I did rig up better straps before that. That system y’all got should come standard! Or I would highly recommend getting one.

    That system is a really poor design , it makes the stand carry way to low if u do it the way the instructions suggest I moved it down 2 rungs it was better but the load bearing attachment at the very top of the stand is a poor design the webbing strap slides off the pads and when putting the stand on ur arm can go between the webbing and the padded strap ! The neoprene buckle cover on the chest strap is sewn way to tight u have to fight it every time u put it on ! 😢I’m really disappointed in this summit product ! It’s another piece of of CHINESE JUNK
