  • Effective Executive Assessment test preparation requires a combination of skill development (content knowledge), practice, and strategy. This video focuses on that third element, teaching you a versatile and super helpful strategy for certain EA Sentence Correction questions that we call The Bracketing Technique. Students are often able to make the biggest -- and fastest -- gains on the Executive Assessment Verbal Reasoning section by learning a few commonly-tested grammar rules that appear over and over again, and the Bracketing Technique can help you isolate those points of grammar and avoid falling into common wrong-answer traps. We break it down for you in this video, with a step-by-step application example so that you understand how to use this strategy yourself on test day. Enjoy!

Thank you so much for your helpful videos. I studied for the gmat for about three months and I feel pretty comfortable with my skills on each section. However, I know my self that I can’t stand such long tests and my score will therefore be negatively affected. Fortunately, the school that I’m applying for accepts EA test as well as the GMAT for admission. My question is: do I need to prepare for the EA test or should my preparation for gmat be sufficient in order to take the EA test?
    Thank you 🙏🏻

That partially depends on how effective your preparation for the GMAT was. Yes, much of the content is the same. But what were your practice test score like for the GMAT? If they weren't particularly high, then you shouldn't expect to magically get a better EA score just because the exam is shorter. The other thing to consider is that the IR section carries more weight on the EA. A lot of GMAT students don't spend as much time on IR since it's not part of your "main" GMAT score. If that describes you, you'll definitely want to devote some extra time to that section. And of course the format and scoring algorithm of the two exams are very different, and thus some of the test-taking and time management strategies are different as well. So you may want to get some coaching on that (we cover it all in our EA prep course, of course).

For someone in early stages of considering the EA, do you have recommendations of a free diagnostic exam to see where I stand before I purchase a tutor or study program?

As of now there aren't any free EA practice tests that I'm aware of, but the GMAC does have a sampling of practice questions on their website to give you a feel for the different question types and let you see how you fare. You can get them here: www.gmac.com/executive-assessment/prepare/free-official-questions
