    My older brother had the same one with matching tuner. I wore out the Abbey Road album on that thing...when he wasn't home! I remember the volume knob precise clicks....so satisfying.
    He blasted FreeBird daily on the damn thing. I was 14 years old. Great memories.....best era ever!!!

    Awesome! I had one of these when I was 19, I bought it new. And I recently bought 2 of them, one working and one not. I will get into them one of these days.

    The Capacitor Wizard easily checks caps in circuit without necessarily needing to remove the part. I suppose you know that. That's why I bought mine. My other checkers require you to push a button for test. Not handy at all for in circuit testing.

    • @VintageAudioFever
      @VintageAudioFever  2 роки тому +1

      Hey Mark....Yes I just recently bought the Capacitor Wizard...well maybe a year ago and it works wonders...with the WIZARD If the cap test bad in circuit....it just BAD. take it out and replace it. I always check them after and at 100% accurency.
      wizard is truly a MUST! I enjoy it very much.

    • @VintageAudioFever
      @VintageAudioFever  9 місяців тому

      I tested them all and only found 2 capacitors with HIGH ESR and needed to be changed...

  • @Robert.Chauval
    @Robert.Chauval 2 місяці тому

    100hms?? Try 100 Ohms. Also you should tell viewers that you must always discharge all caps before testing them, especially on these modern cheap multi component testers else youll be binning the tester very quickly ..
    When i service old gear i recap all electros by default.
    Nice job anyway... just my 10 cents

    Love this video. I discovered the laser trick myself a bit ago. Question about replacing big power supply caps: Mine have two leads and one stabilizer but new caps just have two. Would you glue those? Would you not replace them if they tested fine? I assume they're not going to affect sound if OK but could be bad if they went.

    • @VintageAudioFever
      @VintageAudioFever  Рік тому +1

      Hey David....i did change the big Caps on 2 amp I think...when I ordered them.i made sure I had the original ones...one i recall I was able to get the 3pin capacitor so they are available at digikey.... and i didn't use glue...that is to each its own...yes after 30 years so so the glue became a issue.(corrosion) etc. But if you feel like you want glue there.... go for it...just easy on the glue and I would make sure other components don't get affected by the glue...

      Hey Micheal...
      It's pretty hard to diagnose without being here on my bench..it could be ALOT of things.
      Check the fuse first see if open with a multimeter...if not the fuse check for obvious issues..hots spots on the pcb board, it's usually pretty easy to spot problems ...

      @@VintageAudioFever Hi Joe, I guess it is a matter of personal taste really. The subject matter is kind of serious. Most of my subscribers tend to not be teenagers or very young, they simply have no interest in audio or electronics. Background music is a YOUNG thing, they cannot concentrate for more than a few minutes without it.
      It takes a long time to build up subscribers, particularly in our subjects. Simply not enough people interested. You will be very lucky to ever make any money out of it. I don't even cover my costs! Just a bit of fun and my hobby. Good luck with your channel.
