      This really just helped. I got too hyped nervous because I've had some bad pool trial experiences. 1 during a swim test in pacific ocean was too cold and my body freaked. So I was getting flashbacks to that. This helped me get my confidence. Wasn't too worried, but I still had major butterflies.

    Hopefully this video may save at least one life, due to people viewing it and using the knowledge. Well done British Rowing for making the video, which is part of the Level 2 coaching course which any aspiring rowing coach is strongly encouraged to complete . All active rowers should have done a capsize drill at least once. The physiological and psychological shock of entering water at a temperature below about 8 degrees is severe and at below 3 degrees, it doesn't take long to lose the ability to swim . The rule of thumb is you have one minute for every degree of water temperature before the subject loses the ability to swim and even to grip strongly . That is why the messages in this video are so important

    Lucky the first time I fell out was 6.00am in the sea fight before school took me 10min to get back to shore

      That's what these pool trials don't show. Is how the body goes into major shock mode if your not expecting it. Especially the panic of being in cold frigid water possibly in a lake with currents if your not confident in your swimming. I swim a lot in pools, but in girlscouts when we had a swim test in the ocean, the water was so cold my body just completly went in shock I could barely tread water I was so cold, I had to be rescued. And I was pretty decent at swimming

      It’s pretty difficult in a single or double, especially in choppy water

    • @leeming1317
      @leeming1317 Рік тому

      @@omerkorkmaz6093 It requires a lot of strength. and if your new to rowing havent built up the pull muscles, or the core strength, or the leg strength and your just a wet noodle like me. Its actually really hard.
      Also be careful of the oars, I've gotten conked 1 time pretty hard.
