HP 5343A Microwave Frequency Counter

Just a brief video servicing my HP 5343A, the original reference oscillator was having issues so I replaced it with a HP 10544A and just wrapping up the reference adjustment before closing it up.

Nice counter! The "powers on - no further testing" and "unable to test" items are a bit of a crap shoot, sometimes you get lucky. Some of the 10 MHz reference oscillators can be damaged by using a metal screwdriver and shorting the cap to the case. Regards, David

Yeah, you kind of roll the dice with some of these 'powered on' units. So far I have done pretty good but have received a lemon or two, these are usually set aside as parts units or future repair jobs. I always use non-conductive adjustment tools when servicing, the only exception is insulated metal tip tools for those extra stiff adjustments. However I did find out that the only thing wrong with the original reference was a lose jam nut on the trimmer cap. Thanks for watching.
