"Tetris is the most visually stunning game I've played in years" were words that I never thought id hear myself say, but that was my reaction the first time I played Tetris Effect. Such a beautiful game.
9:44 fortunately, that came later with an updated version of the game called Tetris Effect Connected. I just got back online recently, and I've been having a ball.
Woah... untill you explained it I realized I’ve had a similar experience! My job was putting wooden boards on a chain.... I seen the movement of the chain so often that I began to see it everywhere! I thought I was tripping but this actually makes so much sense
Tetris is one of, if not the greatest game created. That said, I think you made a great video here, I really liked your analysis of what playing Tetris was like for you and how it changed as you kept playing. Good shit man
I do that all the time and thought I was pretty weird for it since I'm not necessarily listening to something meant to be a soothing sleep bringer lol. But looks like it's more common that I thought!
Don't even get me started on Zone Battles! That might possibly be my new favorite way to play competitive Tetris, besides Tetris 99. It's also incredibly fun to watch at a high level.
0:03 bruh who hasn't played Tetris?!? Edit: 0:49 bruh who hasn't heard of Tetris?!? Jokes aside, I knew you were talented but I didn't know (until now) that you could keep me engaged in a video about dropping blocks on a grid. I'm so glad your channel exists, and I hope for the best in your success on UA-cam :)
Aqua's commentary and video's and just his reviews in general, I feel the same way. Like bro he kept people entertained with Tetris what else has to be said.
Great video! I had been playing Tetris before this game bc of Puyo Puyo Tetris, but Tetris Effect really got me INTO tetris. I don't think any game has given me a more mind blowing experience than Tetris Effect, and now because of it I am way more into puzzle games in general.
When you said that anything could be a Tetris effect, I thought of what I enjoy the most, and I realised that I have never thought of dance in other stages of my life. But then, I remembered what I dream of every night. What I make whenever I find something new. What connects all of my favourite activities. It’s storytelling.
I thought there wouldn't be much interesting to talk about regarding tetris. And how wrong I was! This was an absolutely amazing video to watch! Really enjoyed it. Keep up the good work dude!
I had a genuine out of body experience playing this game. No joke, full ego death. One minute I was playing, next minute I had no idea what a controller was or what I was "playing". I watched the pieces fall and had no idea who I was, where I was, or how I got there. I ended up freaking out and pulling off the VR helmet and running into the bathroom to look in the mirror. Took me a long time to even understand what happened. This game is a gift from another dimension.
Great Video and I immediately remembered how I experienced this effect with garden scapes. It’s a match 3 game and I caught myself in class thinking about the perfect combinations
Tetris Effect has genuinely become one of my favorite games which is just absurd honestly. I play that game like every day,for much longer than I should
other tetris games: maximum particle effects complex mechanics satisfying music and sound effects jstris: this is the game that got me into tetris just because i thought it was so simple at the time. I climbed down the rabbit hole and despite almost no effects whatsoever, im still addicted to this game
I had this during Junior Year of high school. I would play Tetris so much on the bus and at home that I would constantly play a game of tetris in my head. The good thing is that once I got over it, my deductive skills and awareness of small details skyrocketed because I was constantly focusing on an internal game of tetris. Nowadays when I read subtitles, I count the amount of letters in the sentence, and I am much better at Algebra and math as a whole. I gotta smarter from playing tetris and suffering from this condition.
I used to play Tetris in my head at work. The ceiling tiles were rectangular, not square, and I just looked up and visualized them as matrixes. And then I would just run some lines between calls. The next blocks always seemed random and I could accurately memorize about 5-6 blocks high - enough to simulate Tetris clears and T Spins. Luckily the folks at work looked at it as being smart, and not as someone who's helplessly addicted to a decades old puzzle block game. Tetris forever.
Despite its incredibly simple nature, Tetris somehow carries this ability to immerse you in a way very few other games can. After playing for a little while, you enter this weird mental state where your mind goes blank and you don’t consciously think about anything. You just play the game. And somehow, despite the fact that you arent thinking about the game (or having any thoughts at all), you start performing really well. Your brain instantly knows exactly what to do and does it without thinking. You start clearing lines like theres no tomorrow, and you have no clue how your doing it. You just let yourself get immersed in the game and playing it becomes something that just…happens. Id describe it sort of like driving a car. You dont think consciously about turning the wheel or braking to slow down. Your brain subconsciously senses that something needs to be done and responds with no conscious thought. Though Tetris feels like a more extreme version of this idea.
I remember playing Tetris for a few hours a few nights while on discord calls and i swear i saw the blocks in my dreams and i took no notice to it but stopped anyway cos i thought it was weird. Then this video happened
I got addicted to Tetris Battle on Facebook when I was on 6th grade and I can vouch for seeing tetris on your dreams. I even see it whenever I close my eyes back then 😂

Me and my sister are hardcore Tetris fans, we play against each other in Puyo Puyo x Tetris game and we’ve been playing for years now, we play an hour or more a day with each other or by our selves, it’s a really entertaining game in my opinion, it’s addictive sort of. When that Tetris effect game came out I could not stop playing, it was much more addictive than any other game (when I use “when it came out” I’m talking about how when I find it) now I see Tetris blocks slightly it’s like, something REALLY obvious block shaped items
Man, I’m kinda sad seeing this and hearing the outro years later. You say „sorry if this is kinda shit“, and this video has low views in comparison to your others, but I truly think this is your best video I have seen yet.
I have some good news for you, Tetris Effect is getting a free update with crossplay multiplayer in just under two weeks. I play the Windows 10 version and it's a ton of fun.
When I was younger I played a lot of RuneScape. I had a Tetris effect like experience with RuneScape. Anytime a song or something would play it would sound like the RuneScape theme song to me😂
I really liked this! I‘d totally love it if you did more of these video essay like vids and less of your video game analysis videos :) But since I enjoy both, I‘ll be happy no matter what you decide

Can you really say you were in the zone both in mind and in game if you hadn't got a decahexatris? Better yet were you ever at the hight of perfection if you never got a perfectris? Most daunting of all perhaps a Ultimatris escaped your grasp like grains of sands between your fingers. At 16 your mind was in tune with the shapes at 18 you would not spare a thought as your mind was separate, but beyond... 20 although just 2 more lines your time might be caught perhaps you were too busy clearing you lost sight of gaps on the structure you built while the clock ticked. My personal best line clear with the zone mechanic was 20 only once I've noticed getting a decahexatris is fairly easy but going perfect or ulti is kinda hard if rng doesn't bless you
11:58 Yeah I'm the same way with music. I used to listen to a Metallica song with a blazing fast guitar solo and think, "Damn, he is good." now, after 4 years of guitar, I look at it from the perspective of, "Damn, he is good." and trying to figure out what scales he is using and thinking of ways to practice so I can do that and be that good. It's like a whole new way of viewing music that was just impossible for me before I started playing guitar.
