- The Fiend Folio Mod for The Binding of Isaac Repentance got a new content update called the "Spitshine Update" and with it came a brand new boss for the gehanna floor! I present to you: Madomme and her caged "Champ"!

Its Isaac so, why not make Touhou level bosses? We have Hush, Mega Satan, Delirium, Mother, a few Antibirth and Afterbirth bosses, ya get the picture.
I mean when you're at gehenna you have more items than just basic tears so I'd say it's pretty underwhelming

@@ManuMOV i beat mega Satan as t Jacob, the trick is to be tanky enough to live through certain patterns and sic Esau into the enemy. Lamb has way less health, with a decent build you can probably defeat him this way

I kinda want Champ to just move one tile towards you to deal damage if you're right next to him. Madomme could also have her AI tweaked so that if you're standing vertical or horizontal to him, she'd get between you.
I see, that just like the Siren, she also uses attacks from Enter the Gungeon. The Resourceful Rat's kunai and the High Priest's bullet ring + skulls.

I know Gehenna is like one of the hardest floors in the game but this boss takes it to a whole new level, Literally.
I think the boss and the minions seem to also represent chess pieces because you have the king in the cage, the queen is the boss the g-imps are pawns and the other minions have similar chess piece names
Horses are knights
Glorias are bishops
And castle is a rook

Being based on, well, BDSM, I wouldn’t be surprised if he was a character that benefited from getting hurt a lot.

@@yosh9192 well, if champ is based off the king (from what i guess, and from what other comments have said about the boss), then getting gamaged and being close to death would be a fitting mechanic, as the king is priceless but is very weak, so a playstyle around keeping your health close to death but not so much to leave you with 1 hit until death. Tainted Champ? i think reversing it would be cool, you deal more damage the more health you have (so more hearts = more damage. Any health up items are great for the run then), but loosing a full heart makes you lose it (4 hearts --> 3 hearts). so its a constant game of "Dont take too much damage or else i will have to find a health up item"
Also the fact that taking damage is the main way of dealing more dmg also fits their theme
I was so expecting a second phase with champ and find it unreasonably funny when the fight just ended and he didn't get to do anything lmao
In fairness, they ARE a chess-themed boss, and the King in chess is...pretty helpless lol. Which is why Madomme keeps him in a cage, to avoid their whole operation being checkmated.

That's why I love Isaac. This cartoonish childish cute disgusting (in a good way) style is so hard to get right and I love it. I can really immerse myself in this childs interpretation of live scaring experiences.
i love how this fight is Chess themed, with Madomme being the strongest one since she is supposed to be the Queen piece, while Champ, which is supposed to be the King piece, gets to do nothing, while trapped inside the cage, protected by his underlings. i find this boss figh to be genius lmao

It's a double meaning thing, usually in chess the king doesn't move much and is "caged" in by other pieces to be protected.
but also Madomme is very clearly a dominatrix, so she has Champ locked up, unable to participate in the fight at all (kinda like she's "cucking" him)

I realizing while watching that se takes a lot of aspects from other Demon bosses and it works very nicely, I was starting to think she was The Dark One and The Adversary's mother.
I like how when you kill her minions, she looks angry while invisible, funny detail.
She's definitely a parallel to Warp Zone who functions like her and also has dynamic reactions to you fighting the minion phases

Much like every fiend folio boss it’s a living animated work of art- that I would absolutely not want to install because each boss plays like a fucking mega satan or final fight.
It’s about dang time! Gehenna has had a distinct lack of bosses for too long now! The only two in base game are one that was just carried over from Mausoleum when it was introduced in Antibirth, and one original one that didn’t really take fully advantage of the setting. I was pretty disappointed to see that in Fiend Folio, no new bosses had been added to the Gehenna even though the Mausoleum got two. Pretty happy to see this! Hope to see a new Mines and Ashpit boss too!

Astral challenge rooms also have a new bosses, maybe you could showcase them next?
Between this and Ms. Dominator, I think it's fair to say someone on the Fiend Folio dev team has a fetish.

Edit: This is one of the most unique bosses I've seen, in terms of attacks and alla that. One of my favourite modded bosses so far!
There needs to be a mod that rebalances vanilla bosses to be on par with FF and Revalations. This was kind of a issue since Antibirth/Repentence where the average alt floor boss/new boss like reep creep or bumbo were on the same level of complexity as the final bosses of the game
or viceversa, but yeah its weird
theres vanilla bosses that have LESS attacks than repentance enemies
