Last year I didn’t get to play basketball as of Covid- so I was getting nervous about this year and how well I would preform. So I started shooting again and I realized that I needed to be able to do a proper layup again (because I just look crazy when I try to do one) so thanks for the video :)
Yeah same I lost my touch and couldn’t make anything and layups and inside game is key cause that’s how we will be more confident with your outside game
Always be confident I was like you last year but last Saturday I was confident and ended up scoring a lot. You’re always gonna mess up but it’s good if you keep trying
Moubdiou Zakari you need to practice like you’re in a game.... that way you’re practice carries over into the game and you won’t get hurried by the defense
Listen to this young man I'm 39 6 ft 225 lb, And I couldn't play basketball at all now I'm controlling the ball hitting jump shots layups listen to this young dude You know what he talking about thanks young brother✊🏿
Wow, incredible details that I never considered paying attention to. They always seemed subtle to me and easy to ignore, however, it really does establish your skills in basketball. I appreciate it, thank you!!
Worked like a charm, i literally watched the video and immediately started making layups on my first try by following these tips. Thanks, even tho this vid is old 😅
i took a huge break, got my jumpshot, my handles, (except super fast behind the backs and a less smooth spin), and im trying to get my old vertical back, and trying to get a layup (i wasnt always the best at it though)
Well i am a just kid and i dont know your situation but my PT told me that I should only eat sweets 1 day every other week. Worked wonders. Just make sure you don’t eat crap and you’ll be fine
My coach told me when you layup you put you're opposite leg up so the defender can't get the ball so for example when you drive on the left side you would bring you're right knee up as you drive for the hoop and you step on you're right foot first. Same goes for a right side, when you layup you step on you're left and bring you're left knee upwards as you jump towards the hoop
I'm 13 and I'm 5'9 so I was trying to get better at layups. Everytime I play I go for the layup and 7/10 I'll make it, but I'm trying to get to 10/10, Nice video
I just started basketball yesterday coach tells me the same thing as you did with the arm and leg thing, Ive done the same exercise both ways and I still use the wrong foot and doesnt succeed with the layup I feel like I would be better off to do a 2 foot layup isntead of 1 foot, I am still small
Hitarth Vyas practice scrimmages and tpracfice tough situations with defender all around u with hands up in practice or if nobody can help set up obstacles. U will get used to it snd will improve
Just practice on making yourself comfortable doing layups and don't be afraid to try in-game, working on these things in a game situation is the best way to improve!
You should train more. It means you dont have the comfort (w the ball) it takes to play under pressure yet. Happens to me with football. Its shit. But you need to keep focused and train more, till you get it.
I get too scared to play in an actual full court 5v5 game. How do I make it so Im more confident cause the guys there gives me bad energies like they gonna do something if you miss… I know it’s prob all in my head since I played confidently in one game and the first 2 minutes I scored 3 points and I was the only one scoring. When I do 1v1s I’m good and usually beat the seniors at my school but I just get nervous in 5v5s. I think it’s also because of my layups all my shooting, dribbles are good and I can fake and drive I’m pretty fast but miss the lay ups cause I go to fast or hurry it
Nice video. I also like to teach when catching the pass for the layup, time your feet so you catch on the down step. Then you'll use your up step (like in the video, the puppet on the string) to make the layup. The trick on catching a pass for the layup is to time your feet to catch on the down step.
Thankyou so much it really jelped me a lot now I'm able to shoot a lay up perfectly plz upload more such vedios cuz it helps a lot of people out there tysm😃
I really love the way you teach coach, i had problem with doing the finger role and now i can easily score against defenders, thanks you coach. Do make a video about how to drive in , in a 1-v-1 situation, pls!!
Honestly when I’m finishing at the rim I low key frightened but I’m working on it and I’ve improved drastically and ima make my own way and that’s by using my vertical I can’t dunk yet but when I get to the paint I’m use brute strength to be able to take contact and ima rise high above my opponent showing them that I won’t lose 👿 and get that ball in and as soon as I am able to dunk the lays gon be falling like rain and ima be dropping lighting bolt dunks on ppl head 💯🏀❤️😂
