Awesome speedrun. First time I played this game was 20 years ago. I finished the game then 10 years later I realized that was the bad ending. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
talking about xbox 360 version "Has some issues with me being blindfolded" LMAO instantly thinking of the GDQ blindfolded speedrun (which is actually one of my favorite speedruns of all time)
Tell me you´ve watched the castlevania series on the netflix, I´d be interested in what you think. Also Thanks for the content I appreciate it. I heard your answer on stream about half a day ago hf sir.
Great run dude, had a couple of questions regarding practicing the route though 1) is there a method or particular room you would recommend for practicing IWS? I'm really sloppy at it and have trouble doing 6 in a row to get the relic skip without the flicker, and on top of that is there any specific tip you can give for performing IWS because I'm not sure if my X timing is off or I'm somehow missing a diagonal, hard to tell 2) for Richter skip would you recommend the bat version on the staircase for a beginner or just trying to learn the wolf jump that you used in the run? I've heard the bat version is a lot easier to do consistently and is only slightly slower Thanks in advance
1) You can practice IWS in the long hallway at the end of the Marble Galelry enxt to the Outer Wall. 2) I would recommend learning the wolf version. It is more consistent, faster and easier to set up. 3) For more detailed guides check out speedrun.com/sotn/guides
( sorry my english is bad) Hi bro , i can't skip Ricther Zone, i make the same things you make in video( wolf, bat and wingsmash. :( is something more can i do ?. I skip to death and keep all the weapons.
It seems I can't find a better place to ask some unrelated info but is the damage of Richter Flame Whip effect by activating empty sub weapon Item Crash fixed in ps4 version? Thanks
Hey there i'm trying to learn this route too but don't seem to understand how that relic skip 17:37 works and i can't find anything about it either. Did i miss something or how does it work?
1. From the left side of the save: cancel the save, turn left and then hit up to bring up the save prompt again. Repeat this 5 times. 2. Go to the edge of the screen and backdash from the ledge. 3. If a gap was created, you will start to fall. As you fall, hold jump and forward (left) the entire time. 4. As soon as you start seeing the screen transition, hold the Bat button in addition to jump and forward (left). 5. You can then fly left or wing smash left, and cancel the bat transformation between the gold statue and clock to the right of the 2nd guardian. This will zip you to the save room. There is some luck with how much the save point shifts the screen when you cancel it from the left side, but there should be over 50% odds that it opens a gap wide enough to fall into.
There is an odd glitch in this version where cancelling out the save point several times opens a small gap in the screen transition that you can fall into. Combining this with a well timed bat transformation to suspend above the ceiling allows you to wing smash over to the final chamber.
Is save corruption/abe still a category for sotn and possible on ps4? I've been thinking about learning all the speedrun routes and since it's now on ps4 I have the opportunity to. What's different in the ps4 version?
PS4 is based on the PAL PSP version. There is a huge assortment of differences to cover between versions, but here's a simple list with the major stuff: 1. Gem duplication/shop glitch does not work. This changes the route significantly from PS1/Xbox 360 categories with no save corruption. 2. As far as I know, save corruption of any kind does not work. It might be possible, but I would need an expert on the matter (nathan7878, ForgoneMoose, sockfolder, ZX497, someone like that) to research it for certain. 3. The file renaming glitch that causes wrong warps in the U.S. PSP version does not work. 4. Skipping Death by backdashing out of the room works on this version and all PSP versions. 5. You can cancel save points repeatedly to shift the screen and fall between screen transitions (see: skip into Dracula's chamber). This works in all PSP versions. 6. You can skip Shaft by clipping the corner of the ledge as you enter and then going to the corner of the room to load Dracula. This glitch works in all PSP versions and the Japanese 1.0 PS1 version. There is also a ton of more minor stuff, but I will be working on a document for the speedrun.com/sotn page that outlines all of these.
@@romscout cheers for the long and detailed response. I watched a ps1 speedrun a few years ago (cosmos run I believe) and thought it was amazing. I'm surprised that versions are so beyond different. Was there a specific reason why everything is so different in each version?
Hay bud, quick question. I'm having a problem playing as richter on this version, I beat the game and than new game put in the name(richter) but it dident work. Any suggestions? Thanks
You need to kill Dracula not Richter as the boss...... so.... after you offically beat it your game file should say " cleared" then you can type in Richter or Maria to play as
Opening the switch allows for a small area to clip into that avoids the trigger for Richter's battle. Unloading the battle effectively puts you in the same state as clearing the battle, allowing you to enter the 2nd castle. The input for the skip is a first frame dash jump (double tap forward and jump on the same frame) from that exact spot.
Hey Rom, noticed your shield dashing isn't as dramatic as it is on the Xbox version. Is it harder to use both hands to shield dash on the PS4, or is there another reason you're not using both hands?
Nah, I've eased up on the shield dashing a bit since having tendinitis a few months ago. Over the course of the run, I only lose a couple of seconds at most compared to the normal speed.
I could imagine how that would be hard on the hands to do that for hours a day for the last seven years. It's nice to see you posting new runs on UA-cam though.
Good god, why in the world would they change the translations? They dialogues are so lame compared to the original, like so simple, like it was translated by google. I know it's pretty much for being the japanese version, but still, put more effort on the localization will ya? Also, I did donwloaded the japanese version the PXS to play as Maria, but now I realized I never beat that version, so it's the I'm the wind song from the US version only? I'm shocked.
Amazing! All the methods you applied on the ps4 version is a possibility for runners to attempt a WR or PB. Definitely supporting this game

holy man, seeing you without the beard is like a new man, congrats on the speedrun :3

How did you skip Death at 1.50? :O
just back dashing out of the death room before the cutscene starts, this glitch also works on psp
Is it also working on psx emulator?
@@choyangel5361 nope. on psp version.
Does it work on the ps4 version?

they need to make the mist form controller changeable or else this will be completely obsolete
Hey we have access to the secret garden in this ps4 vertión??

How do you do the save point glitch into bat?
Great run. Does the game let you select Japanese subtitles/in-game menus?
It only lets you select the voice language. Text will be in English regardless.
i cant do the beginning skip with alucard. help me romscout lol
The beginning looks different
Do you Speedrun the Saturn version? Will we ever see a Maria run?

What exactly you did in order to go out of the screen and then go to the other savepoint? It has something to do with a OoB?
