Every "Wow" From 2015 IndyCar Fontana

- The 2015 IndyCar race at Fontana had 80 lead changes and 3,173 on-track overtakes, both IndyCar records. A new aerokit and a wide track created a drafting and slingshot race similar to CART's Hanford Device era of the late 90s. The broadcast booth of Leigh Diffey, Steve Matchett, and Paul Tracy were in awe the entire race.

This race was the definition of "Wow that was awesome, please don't do that again". Like your friend successfully pulling off a dangerous stunt
Wow
One of the best races in all of motorsports history
Still so glad I watch this race live. Completely insane for the entire 500 miles. I wish they'd go back
This is the content we're subbed for.
Wow
how tf are you not verified?
That one loud guys sounds like he snuck into the booth and stole a mic lol.

WOAH!!!
I have watched a LOT of racing in my 36 years of life and I'll tell you... this was probably the most thrilling oval track race EVER contested, in ANY series. If you've never seen this race start to finish, you need to change that... because after all the near-misses (and tragedies) IndyCar has had at the big ovals over the past several years, we'll probably never see them dare to run a race like this ever again.
it was a great race. the cars looked like they ran a 24 hour race.
The best race ever that nobody watched.
Everyone was lucky this day. Was thrilling to watch at the time but never want to see this again.
Having Steve Matchett in the booth for this race was a stroke of genius.
"If you don't like this kind of racing, there's something wrong with you."
Drivers: "We don't like this, so indeed, something's wrong with us."
crowds: "we don't like this, we aren't coming"
To be fair
This was only 4 years after Dan Weldon died in probably the worst crash in racing history.
@Lucas Holmes WHAT. There are at least 999 crashes worse than Wheldon's one. Even non-fatal ones. Dan was massively unlucky for catching the fence, but there are crashes like von Trips' one or the '55 Le Mans crash or Webber's Le Mans flip or even Jean Behra's crash when he flew to the sky.
@@thesfdoctor3603 the 55 le mans crash is the worst. That's a given.
If you take away spectators Weldon's was the worst. Only thing that comes close is Bodine or Antoine Hubert.
3 cars flew into the catch fence. Just under half the field was involved. Several drivers were injured. Nobody had a soft impact. Not to mention the fatality.
@@lucastraman706Takashi Yokoyama’s crash is worse. Gordon Smiley, Alex Zanardi as well
Whoa Whoa Whoa Whoa Whoa, Lois this is not my Batman glass... Seriously, greatest race in indycar history in my opinion
Owen Wilson would have a field day saying all that
My thoughts exactly
This was the best race in motorsports. We will never see this again. Peak of auto racing
This race is such a contradiction. From a fan’s perspective, it’s AWESOME. But nearly everyone involved hated it (except for the guy who flipped funnily enough).
Don't think nearly as many hated it as the narrative stated at the time. Lots of drivers liked it or were indifferent as well.
@@xtlm You see the interviews from the time, and people were really uncomfortable with how the race had developed, being too close to Vegas 2011. Will Power ua-cam.com/video/Y2gwQwF5Juo/v-deo.html
You ignore the fact that Will Power is a walking crybaby @@Ofitus21
@@Ofitus21 i was at vegas. that track is crazy banked and the time of day they ran was not good those billboards on turn 1 made it so they could only see flashing lights. it was setup very poorly. was my first in person indy race and after being there for all the festivities, it was a tragedy what happened.
There is a reason Matchett is more revered than today's modern F1 of Croft yelling. Larry Mac made US motorsport fans want more technical STEM thinking. Matchett made fans understand the intricacies of F1's aero aids and hybrids. Viewers could understand their cars better after watching the races, something lacking in an emotionally driven broadcast now.
This IndyCar Race at Auto Club in 2015 was Phenomenal, but the Drivers didn't like it because they said it was like Vegas 2011
And people think oval racing is boring…
its just road racing fans
@@ZIGAG1999 no, its 12 year old F1 fans
As a looooong time Indy Car fan, this was one nerve wracking race to watch. WOW!!
I go back and watch this race every few months. I'm shook every time. My roommate's cat usually curls up on the rug and watches with me. I'm not sure what she thinks of it.
Wish we could see this again
Wow!
after 500 miles these cars looked like they ran for 24 hours. paint and decals striped away and so much rubber build up. it was fantastic.
I can see myself in the stands! I’m that one person next to the other two
You and the other 7 ppl in the stands
I liked it when he said wow.
I was there, it was CRAZY
Top 10 races in motorsports right there
Imagine if Owen Wilson was doing the commentary
Man what a beautiful race that was but so goddamn dangerous
WOW
it's the greatest race that nobody saw
All 5 people in the stands -BFM
🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
woah
A wonderful race..... In a wrong date.
WOW!!
Wow
Ka-wow
I can't think of a comment for this video. Yes, I can. "W
All I have to say is Wow
The last F1 Wow was in ‘69
IndyCar at Fontana (for any car)>NASCAR at Fontana
Did you not watch this Years Race at Fontana, the Gen 7 made the Racing at Fontana great again
@@aldouscoroza everyone knows Gen 7 is goated. I’m just biased towards IndyCar lol. But don’t get me wrong, the Gen 7 raced amazing. I wish they were faster, but hey, I’m glad the Gen 6 is dead and see the drivers drive the cars again and not as aerodynamic!
And they turn this track into half mile
Where'd you go?
Be back soon
And none of these were exacerbated
It's a shame IndyCar won't be going back to Auto Club
Auto Club isn’t gonna exist past this year
*Owen Wilson joke*
Now do every deep breath in the microphone, lol.
Cutting a track from the schedule because the on-track product is too good is a certified IndyCar moment.
It’s not that, it’s how dangerous it is. All it takes is one wrong move and a car will be flying through the air.
on track product wasn't the issue, look at the stands genius
@@xSoccerxCorex Southern California being indifferent to auto racing doesn't explain the wider-scale phasing out of speedway racing. There are a lot of factors that went into it, but you can't convince me that the one-upsmanship we see when it comes to safety in racing isn't chief among them.
@@xSoccerxCorex nobody wants to go to California even for just race day.
Indy fans habe always been a bit simple.😂
