You are right about her versatility. 1989 had Like A Prayer, 1990 Im Breathless 1991 the OScar performance but also the singles from the Immaculate Collection most famously the controversial Justify My Love which was the first US #1 hit of 1991 and here once again a very different side and sound to her. Heartfelt timeless message, no controversy, nothing scandalous but a #1 ballad that still touches people now 30 years later. And we are only getting started in the 90s...
all Madonna's song are moving and have a message, but especially her ballads...I lost both my parents, one is a violent car accident, one to dementia, the holidays are specially hard, as its only been 9 years..
We're so sorry for your loss. It's difficult to deal with the loss of those you love at any time, but the holidays are always particularly challenging. Sending so much love your way. ❤️❤️
I think Madonna is unbeatable in the ballad genre. She has a quality of writing that speaks to people's hearts. To think that this delicate song would be followed by a multimedia storm the likes of which had never been seen in pop music...She shows first one side and then another. Without Borders.
And her vocal delivery is beyond reproach. It’s not about screaming to the rooftops. It’s about conveying the raw emotions of a song which she does better than anyone.
Such a lovely song. Love the lyrics to this. Something to Remember boasts some of Madonna‘s best ballads. I can’t wait for you to get to Take a Bow. It’s one of my favourite videos. You have to watch things in order here, because Take a Bow actually has a sequel called You’ll See. Must watch in order. Terrific review ladies! Ty so much. Have an amazing day! ♥️ Also: watch the movie with Emily! It’s so good!
Aged 13 in 1992 I was so fond of this song it's a gem. I always knew the time we have is so short . I almost wept hearing it again so much has changed. Well chosen!
Madonna is one of the best ballad writers. Beautiful song and video. She can really show true emotion with her voice. You should watch the movie 🍿 Great reaction ❤❤
So glad you covered this beautiful, nostalgic 1992 ballad by Madonna. I must admit I sort of glossed over this gem in my own Madonna journey, distracted by her many more popular hits and masterpieces. She was so prolific, so ahead of her time and have so deep, prodigious videography that I’m constantly amazed and surprised to rediscover and appreciate hidden gems from her past works that initially didn’t resonate with me. For example, it’s only recently that I’m discovering new favorites from her 2003 American Life and 2019 Madame X albums-both undeservedly underrated when they first came out due to the adverse geopolitical/social unrest climate then that distracted the attention of the pop music world at large. You’ll probably discover new gems later after you complete this journey. For true admirers of her artistry and advocacy, I realize a Madonna journey is an open-ended matter of fascination and interest. As one writer aptly said about her work-“The beauty of great art is it’s open to endless interpretation..” ❤your sensitive, insightful reaction to this video/song. Appreciate the joy and wonder of your Madonna journey.
Aww, thank you so much.❤️❤️ And isn't incredible to find the beauty of songs that didn't resonate at certain times in our lives? Or to revisit a piece of music and discover something completely new within it? We're so grateful that you're on the journey with us. ❤️
I absolutely love this song. I promise you the more you listen to it, the more you will love it. Her voice is fantastic again on this. Really goes straight to my heart this one.
Just when I think I’ve watched these videos to death, gotten all the hidden meanings and symbolism….I watch your reactions and get a whole new perspective that may have never occurred to me! Thank you! 💕🙏💕 Also, no one emotes as well as Madonna in a ballad, you feel what she is singing about! 🤯🤯🤯
Love this song, Madonna is not known for having an extraordinary good voice, but i think that she is very good in conveying emotions in her ballads. I am a very nostalgic person for the past, that's why I love the lyrics of the song, also all the mood. I remember discovering this song in the summer of 1992 when i was having the breakfast in the morning before going to work and i saw the video by surprise in the TV. In those days when there was no Internet, these songs that maybe were not a big hit were difficult to discover, or maybe went unnoticed. Although this was a number one in US. I saw the movie "A league of their own" and it was a very good movie, verey recommended. Kisses 😍😍😍
Beautiful song!! Fabulous movie ❤ Madonna has always had such a way with delivering emotion in her ballads!! This has made me want to watch A League of Their Own again 😊
I remember someone asking her about this song and she talked about walking around her old neighborhood on the lower East side of New York where she lived and the clubs she would hang out in the 80's...which had all been torn down or built over. It was their playground ..and everything has gone including some of her friends, some who died of aids.
I like this song as well. I usually listen to it while listening to her ballads compilation :Something To Remember". I hope it's ok to mention. I think Emily had a haircut, and it looks very nice on her, along with the red sweater. The color seems to suit her well.
During my childhood and teen yrs., I lived across the street from the elementary school (K-8th) where the neighborhood kids and teens had access to its playground. In 2012, I went back to my house and saw the school had renovated its property. The playground was gone. I started crying. Days after, I heard this song on SiriusXM 90s and started to cry again. I was if Madonna wrote this song about my playground experience. Emotional nostalgia this song is!
Thank you for sharing this - It's amazing when a song comes on and just captures what we're feeling at the time. It really feels like the artist had a window into our lives. ❤️❤️
I've always had a soft spot for her ballads. She may be more known for her dance hits, but she has a number of ballads that were huge at the time. Unfortunately, I feel like this one has been somewhat forgotten even by Madonna. You'll be soon reacting to another sweet ballad called I'll Remember which was for a soundtrack/film also, which was a big hit for her. That song seems to been a forgotten hit of hers as well. Both great songs, it's just so many things overshadowed these songs in the coming years that you'll be reacting to. This is when she and Rosie O'Donnel met and became fast friends when filming A League of Their Own. Still great friends to this day.
A very different feel for this Madonna, an artist who up until then, and sometimes still to this day, had constantly re-enforced the statement that one must move on to grow, and that the past must be let go of. Probably great statements if you're a computer or not human hehehe. It was so wonderful to see Madonna tear that down with these lyrics. We are who we are because of who we've been, as well as who we will be. Incidentally, this video was the beginning of the "no eyebrowed" or "bleached eyebrowed" Madonna phase, as well as the end of the famous beauty spot above the lip. She even thanks her beautician for removed her brows in her "Sex" book. I personally love her big bushy brows, but I am more European when it comes to this stuff hehehe Great to see you ladies again... Brace yourselves... 1992 and the Sex era is the next stop on the Madonna journey. XXX
Another terrific reaction to such a beautiful song & video. I would say, when you get to the Erotica video, watch the uncensored version, but, it would be a nightmare to edit ( lol)😂😂 it’s such a bold video.❤
@@OurAnxiousReactions -Yeah, even the regular version will be fun, but I’m so excited for you both to experience the videos, albums, Interviews & tour coming up. It was such an exciting time to be a fan to witness history being made ahead of it’s time and an artist, who truly was a freedom fighter for all others to come, to enjoy the artistic freedoms they now have.
Unfortunately the song was only played in the credits of the movie, so therefore it was not eligible for a Golden globe or Oscar nomination. If it had been played during the movie, I think there's a very good chance it could have won.
First of all, I love your reactions. I am on the back seat of your Madonna joyride. I always wanted to ask: why Madonna? What motivated you to embark on this journey? And by the way, fasten your seatbelts: theres another sharp turn around the corner. 😘
Her artistry and activism over the last 40 years has impacted and covered the post-modern evolution of pop music and culture, brought awareness and spurred discussion of relevant social/political/religious issues like no other female music artist has done. Her artistry has raised so much interest among academics, social and cultural scientists that universities offered liberal arts electives on “Madonna Studies” in the 80s, 90s and early 2000s. Dozens of books have been written about her. I think her legacy masterpieces captured in videos, discs and films will transcend time much like people are still fascinated and still analyzing masterpieces by Beethoven, Da Vinci, Van Gogh, and Shakespeare.
Thank you so much for taking the ride with us! ❤️❤️ And that's a great question! When we initially reacted to a couple of Madonna's songs/videos, a number of viewers suggested that we start from the beginning to really understand the incredible impact she's had with her music and advocacy. So we went back to her first singles and were basically hooked from there. We honestly can't tell you how grateful we are for the recommendation to take this journey - It's been a wonderfully immersive experience (and we've learned so much!). ❤️❤️
Apparently, a couple years prior to this, Boy George made a very similar photo album style video (sorry, I don't know the song) He took the opportunity to throw a bit a shade, referring to this as "This Used to be My Video" 😉 Emily would love this movie. I hate sports movies and only saw it because of Madonna...smart casting by director Penny Marshall. I always think it's significant because it's where Madonna and Rosie O'Donnell met and formed their seemingly unlikely, but long lasting, friendship.
The Culture Club song you're referring to is "Time/Clock of the heart". It is true that at the beginning of the video there is the same idea of opening and scrolling through a photo album. But Boy George could have avoided being so venomous: he doesn't have the copyright to all other people's photo albums. However, "Time" is also a splendid song.
Even though people know her for her controversial persona, her ballads are always so moving.
Madonna is such an underrated songwriter especially her ballads.
Madonna's ballads are the best!!
A number 1 hit that we didn’t expect. It was huge
"A League Of Their Own" came out in 1992.I probably saw it,WELL OVER 20 TIMES IN THEATER THAT SUMMER.
Wow - That's amazing! Bet you could repeat the dialogue back then! ❤️❤️
there is a longer version of this with an extra verse, definately one of her best and a fan favourite.

Another #1 for her in 1992. Very pretty video, the movie is great, the song is great, great lyrics once again. Madonna's pen game is strong!
