  • The government plans to axe all hereditary peers within the next 18 months. That means anyone who inherited their title from a family member will no longer have the honour of sitting on the red benches.
Since 1999, there have been 92 hereditary peers - all of them are white men with an average age of just below 70.
Labour said these peerages are outdated and indefensible.

Yes! Unelected people having a say in our lives is a NO, NO.
Many just register, have a coffee and subsidised meal and then leave.
Ensuring the £350 per day attendance.

True a lot of just register and get a meal. But you know it was the lords that stopped the law passed the House of commons law that could let police hold people without charge for 90's days under Blair. It was the Lords that stopped Cameron's government pushing through a law that would throw lots of the British population into poverty by scrapping tax credits. They held up the Rwanda bill
      Reform it don't scrap it.

Why can't we have a vote on the people who enter the house of Lords? Perhaps it could be split into sections such as science, engineering, legal scholars, medicine, public service etc... to ensure when legislation is being scrutinised it is experts looking at it. They should be voted in as individuals, not party affiliated but the public should control by the vote who is in there.

They’re not reflective of the population that they’re governing. It’s a pretty valid criticism.

You don't need religion for morals or to know what's right and wrong, ridiculous.

Wealthy means being an old person who is brick rich being told they can’t have help to keep warm . Why have these people who claim more a day than the old are given to keep warm not got in the middle of that rule. Why the hell are there 146 questions to get pension credits you need to ask one question What is your income per year,The reason they ask so much is to stop oap,s from claiming firstly and so they can eye up their home for the illegals
