The original definition of man in Old English meant human or person. It only specifically referred to males later in Middle English. So a lot of these terms like mankind came before the word man referred to males. So the words aren't sexist. It's like people are going around looking for things to be offended by nowadays. Complete non-issue.
Give it a bloody rest will you it’s not offensive unless you are simple. I do not want to change the history of our language to the snowflakes of which there are very few leading us around by the nose
I am with Andrea, someone talking sense for a change! What a load of nonsense, who bloody cares! I to had the best years during the 80s life was fantastic and none of this crap around! What i would give to have a time machine lol
@@redredlulu1 nice that you don't feel a need but others may. The word breast could trigger dysphoria for a non binary parent or for a trans father who wants to be able to feed their baby without being triggered. It's not replacing words but having more words and more options. I don't see the harm having more words/options causes. Respecting another person's rights doesn't take away any of your rights. Being generous takes absolutely nothing from you. You have nothing to loose. Someone else may have something to gain. That only does good, surely? Surely we want everyone to be able to feed their babies with as little distress as possible? Partly because it is good for the baby's health. Having just had a baby is a vulnerable time for the parent that carries them. Trans parents who carry and give birth to their babies do report it as a very challenging time in terms of dysphoria. We know mental health is vulnerable at this time for all parents who carry and birth their children partly because of hormone changes and also childbirth is sometimes traumatic. Anything that helps someone and hurts no one is surely a good thing? Human rights isn't a pie. You aren't going to run out or loose out because someone else is given more. It takes nothing from you
It's not man as in male it's man as human kind.
Exactly
@Vanosphere thank you I've been trying to explain that for 53 years, they will be calling the Isle of man sexist next 🙄

“Gendered language” who the hell thinks all these terms and phrases up…ffs🙄🤡🤷🏻♂️
What about surnames ? Goodman, Chapman, Steadman ? They'll be starting on those next 🥴
How are schools teaching French these days? Objects have genders in their language.
"I'm not a feminist" oh dear, we've got one of those on the panel
difference between a feminist and a baby. A baby grows up
Man; Old English; person.

I heard on the news "people with gynecological problems" 🤔
That's women 😊
I'm pretty sure Neil Armstrong was supposed to say, "That's one small step for a man." The "a" was not clearly audible in the broadcast.
"Hell hath no rage like love to hatred turned nor fury like a woman scorned" is a quotation from Congreave, not Shakespeare.
They can ask people not to say certain words,i will not listen to them
Chest feeding isn't replacing breast feeding. It's having an option for non binary or trans parents or fathers as well as for cis women
There shouldn't be another option
No need to to use chest feeding 😡

No such thing as a cis woman. Stop it.
@@mariannehavisham8323No such thing as a 'cis woman'.
Are they trying to do this to other languages?
