I noticed the editing style changed. I love this style of editing for instructionals. It's straight to the point without unnecessary fluff. I generally love your editing style for your other videos .. but for anyone just looking for an instructional, this is a winner.
Your brake fluid change videos make me feel like I could do it myself, but then I start thinking that I need you there telling me exactly what to do! Another great video Dan.
Beautiful 458! you can tell you take great care for this exotic. If you ever find yourself in Seattle would love to do a car review for the channel lol!
Just for fun I ordered some brake fluid test strips from Phoenix systems and sure enough the fluid on my Corvette is way overdue, once again another awesome DIY video👍
I'm not so sure about Ferraris, but other modern cars with ABS needs some tool/scanner that plugs into the OBDII port to execute some routines on the ESP ECU to actuate the ABS pump to fully bleed out the old fluid that is trapped inside the ABS system. The 1st gen NSX has a first gen ABS system which holds a whole lot of fluid and requires a special tool to bleed the fluid. Newer cars hold much less but there can still be some fluid in that part.
I see you used a dry Motive tank vs filling it with brake fluid. It’s never been totally clear to me which method is the best. The risk with dry method as you did is the brake fluid reservoir can get too low while bleeding and introduce air in the line. So have to be really diligent about topping off while bleeding. Versus if you fill the Motive you don’t have to worry about that, and I believe is how they instruct to use the product. Would have been good to touch on this in the video - curious your take on it. Thanks Dan, I enjoy your videos!
You should be able to fill the motive tank with new fluid and push pressurized fluid through the system so you don't have to refill the reservoir each time. Check the instructions on the Motive Bleeder!
Great explanation Dan, are you a mechanic? I have a 19 corvette and was wondering on what your opinion is on the motul oil as opposed to the mobil1 synthetic? I believe we have to use GM's choices for warranty purposes and I don't think motul is included.
Dan, the Ferrari factory maintenance doesn't cover this right? I am looking through my paperwork and I don't think that my car has ever had its brakes bled! It looks pretty clear though.... not brown like yours was.
Great timing!! I was about to do brake flushes on my cars during this shutdown and this video is super handy wahahhaa. BTW your siphon hand pump looks like it's the same one from amazon. I was reading up on that product and it says not to siphon brake fluid from the pump as the fluid will damage seals inside the pump etc. Any idea? i am still in the process of buying the parts/tools for this job
Wait ??? What or WHO went into LIMP mode??? And you need new rubber(s)..... I thought this was a family channel.........hahahah! And you are UA-cam Certified Master Automotive Tech.... Cool patch..
In all honesty I wouldn't use the pressure bleeder to bleed the fluid it can actually ruin the abs pump, best to use a normal bleed bottle with bit of fluid in it so it doesn't go back into the system. (We're not allowed to use the pressure system anymore in our dealership.
@@normalguysupercar It's a breakdown of the rubber from within the brake system (seals in the calipers as well as the brake master). Rusting of other components from the inside of the system outward can in fact happen when you use brake fluid that wasn't freshly opened. Brake fluid is hygroscopic (absorbs water over a period of time when exposed to air) and then that brake fluid/water mix is introduced into the system and can cause rust on the inside. Not to mention poor braking performance.
Great video. Getting right to the point and showing how the Motive pressure brake bleeder works is perfect. Keep up the great work Dan. These videos are great. But more importantly, your real approach towards supercar ownership is much appreciated. The subs will come. Keep it going!
Because I have had it pop off before and I don't want to spray fluid everywhere. Plus then you have to use a ton of fluid and I don't want to waste it.
This is not the right way to change brake fluid on ferrari. It works, but its not the right way. You should connect DEIS or similar and bleed the brakes at a special procedure. (LR inner, outer. LF inner, outer, RF inner, outer, RR inner, outer) It is not a approved brake fluid either but this seems to be better than petronas tutela top5 FF, OEM ferrari.

Thanks. Although it seems to have performed terrible

You can do it!
Always learning a lot from this channel. Now I just need a Ferrari to make use of the knowledge
Haha indeed
Great info , I will never be able to afford to own a Ferrari so this is great way to see what actual ownership .
Raccoon man 60 why stop watching and start working
You never know
Miles I have work all my life and at 60 years old and Disable Veteran . So I live within my means jackass.
Raccoon man 60 I agree, it’s fun to watch the DIY maintenance videos to see the Italian engineering. Thank you for your service and sacrifice.

great content as usual...really love the end credits music...
Thank you!
The wheels look amazing!!!
Thank you! All american wheel pros!
Thank you for the clip, it is very neat.
I did not see you to flash the rear tires, any reason?
Thanks

Dan is it not possible to remove the plastic trim covering the brake reservoir?
Yes
Hey! You got toolboxes!!!!! YAY!!!
Yup! Loeper gave them to me. 😁
Normal Guy Supercar Did Mrs. Loeper hate the toolboxes as much as his new wheels? Her reaction to his new expensive wheels will never be not funny.

Yes you can do that with the launch tool I have
Helpful video, thanks for sharing
My pleasure
How did you determine which Motiv pressure bleeder would have an adapter for you 458?
It's a standard European adapter
THANK YOUR YOUR HELP IM IN DOMINICAN REPUBLIC AND THERE IS NO FERRARI DEALER HERE
That poses a problem
Can you give some guidance on how to use the Launch x431 to flush the abs system?
Perhaps at some point
Wow great channel i found ! Thanks !
Do you have any videos on draining the gas tank on a 458 that’s been sitting for a while to remove any sludge & or debris
Nope but there might be a drain plug
@ I’ll look for a dream plug, have you use any fuel injector cleaners that you could recommend?
Awesome!!!!! Would you be willing to help a certain someone's BMW on a brake fluid change? Once we're allowed to be within 6 feet of each other?
Lol yes
Your garage lights are crazy, Dan. lol!
They are awesome. Soooo much light.
Great work as usual!
Thanks again!

Also if you fill the motiv and the cap pops off (which I've had happen) out could spray fluid all over
You should be able to fill the motive tank with new fluid and push pressurized fluid through the system so you don't have to refill the reservoir each time. Check the instructions on the Motive Bleeder!
I'm aware. I don't like doing that because if it pops off then it will spray brake fluid everywhere.
Normal Guy Supercar I hear ya, messy cleanups are no fun. Keep up the good work!
The wheels 😮😮😮NICE DAN YOU HAVE TO TAKE ME FOR A RIDE IN THAT BEAUTIFUL CAR 👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you
Another fantastic video 😁😁
Thank you
Thanks Dan!
You're welcome
what motive cap are you using on the F430
The euro one
Do yo by chance have any rock chips or chips on your brembo ferrai breaks n etc??
No

I'm not a mechanic, I'm a software developer. I think either oil is fine
Thanks again Dan.....How often to change the fluid in the DCT?
You're welcome
RBF660 is pretty good and consistent. However, if you wanna try a better one, the Endless one is even better.
Ok
Just joined your channel. Simply love it. Please send links to any works done California T
Thanks
Your the Man ! ........... all the best Dan ;0)
Thank you
Great video, thank you Dan!
You're welcome

Hmm I think it is covered. Should be
Awesome Job!
Thanks
What kind of tires you run
Pirelli p-zero
Great stuff Dan. 👍
Thanks

You can just use a turkey baster instead.
@@normalguysupercar wahahahah thanks!!
Motul. Yes indeed. He uses the good stuff.
Yup!
Good job 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks!
What was the battery you put in ur car.
Antigravity
I use a turkey baster to remove the old fluid. Cheap and effective.
Yes that works too. Just don't put it back in the kitchen. Lol
Wait ??? What or WHO went into LIMP mode??? And you need new rubber(s)..... I thought this was a family channel.........hahahah! And you are UA-cam Certified Master Automotive Tech.... Cool patch..
My 458 went into limp mode on the track one time. I think it was bad gas
I like the short intro
Cool
Dan..Windshield Wiper arm screw cap missing... Passenger side.
Yup, I'm aware. Good eye.

@@normalguysupercar Just saves you having to rebuild the ABS pump
I appreciate the tip
Easy peas you!
Yup
17 Nm=12.35 ft lbs if anyone wondering
Yup
How’s it going Dude?
Eh, could be worse. Lol
Total noob question: where does the gunk that gets into the brake fluid come from?
Rust? I'm not sure

How about a video on Ugga-duggas? Educate us UK people on their torque equivalents.
Lol that should be fun
Why aren't you just filling the Motiv with fluid?
