This was great - and I especially love that you chose two of the decks I'm going to be working with in September 😀BTW, for the Druid Craft "Wheel", I think it's significant that she's drawing her circle in sand, the implication being that eventually the tide will come in and wash it away (I haven't read much of the guidebook yet, but that's what immediately springs to mind, having built many a sand castle as a child!)
Okay you are OFFICIALLY the first person to bring in a reference for the Druidcraft wheel that IMMEDIATELY clicks with my interpretation!!! :) What a fabulous thing to notice and point out - THANK YOU ;) I always hunt for the way I see the card in the artwork, and this was one that I've never quite seen for a long time - the tide coming to wash away the circle she makes is *perfection* for how I view this card, the constancy of change, the impermanence of everything. Fabulous!
@@Lisa_Papez I also love that interpretation @Anne Lyle! She seems completely comfortable with letting go of something, understanding that it no longer serves her. I also sometimes see this particular card in Druidcraft about having some kind of control over change, which might seem weird as many things seem out of our control, but almost about gently influencing, manipulating or shaping these changes to go a bit more in our favour or towards our preferred outcome.
It is so interesting reading other peoples thoughts on what cards mean oh my gosh!!! I have always thought seeing as she is holding the necklace with the symbol for the wheel of the year that she was in the process of drawing said wheel which in druidry is the same idea of change that is kind of "flowing" like in the traditional cards (namely the changing of the seasons). The ideas of change, the circle of birth and death (and that everything has to change and die to be born and made beautiful again sorta thing) is something I find really significant and beautiful in the spirtuality of druidry and one main thing that attracted me to it.
Love this series for refreshing the absolute basics! I personally connect The Fool to the word "naivety" and how it can be both a blessing and a curse. I associate the word risk with calculation or evaluating something before deciding, and to me the fool just doesn't even consider that. They just wander off in the actual belief that everything will work out - because why wouldn't it? The fool is iconic haha
I always loved the word optimistic (to a fault) for The Fool, I feel it goes hand in hand with your naivety. He just believes nothing bad is going to happen, or when it does he'll be fine and it won't be a big deal.
This was amazing - thank you Lisa. So clear and deep, yet concise. A part of me wishes something like this had been available when I started studying and practicing tarot a little over 2 years ago, but then again I learned so much from sitting with the cards on my own, reading a bit from tarot books, and watching tons of UA-cam tarot readings as well as participating in a monthly tarot meet up. I'm so excited to participate in your course. I have my deck and I have my Sharpie ready!
I'm going to pull out my back up untrimmed Druidcraft and write in a keyword ON each card this way I can trim it off at a later time. Love this series Lisa.
This was so enlightening. Really loved simplifying to one key word, then expanding that meaning in how each card depicted it. Great stuff! Thank you for the work you’re putting into these videos. :)

@@Lisa_Papez Not usual for me. My mind is blank a lot of the time!!😅 Thankyou again for this little training wheels. Wouldn't call my self a beginner but enjoy going through the cards with others. And back to basics sometimes is a real good exercise I find. Bonus its you. XXx
LOVE your distinction between the magician and high priestess! That's been a pair that I've struggled to find & articulate their differences. Also for me, the difference between the magician and the empress is that the magician has that spark to initiate, that initial desire to use what's available to start working, while the empress is about nurturing a creation -- taking something and seeing it flourish to completion.
I watched this and penciled the words into my guidebook for Elemental Power Tarot. Even though this guidebook has wonderful explanations, using the Control theme opened up the artwork for me. Really brought it to life. Excited for the rest of the majors!
Hey Lisa, I'm really loving this series, and it has come at a perfect time. My tarot practice lapsed for the last six months. I had a relationship breakdown and a relapse in my mental illness, and we have been in lock down the last two months and tarot was just to painful to deal with. I have finally picked up the cards again, in part because of these great videos. Even though I am not an absolute beginner, these have been really good videos to reignite my passion for tarot. And I love that I can keep coming back to a video throughout the day. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us.
Finally seen the whole video. I started my griw out in June. I don't worry how peeps feel. It's my hair. I'm a little older and finding out how some women are afraid of this. Thank yoy for your positive video.
I am a huge follower of Madam Adam on social media and he did a wonderful explanation on the lovers card being a card of choices. I think its an interesting way to interpret the card. He doesn't see it as a romance card either.
Pick ONE word she says. *Writes down up to 3 per card* xD Thank you for the lesson! I love that even though I'm writing more than one word sometimes that this simplifies things greatly. Also, I'm using Rocketbook's reusable notecards and pens for this. Maybe that will help other people as well.
Hi! After watching half of this video, I’m definitely learning that you definitely need to look beyond the literal meaning that’s in front of you. Thank you for such a thorough explanation of the cards. I’m looking forward to the rest of the this series.
I love this series! A great revision/ rethinking of the Tarot's meanings for me! Fun Fact! I research on foxes on the internet and "Foxes are usually monogamous. This means that they have only one mate for life." This is very apt for The Lovers card, commitment for life!
This series is great! Really enjoying it so far. It was interesting to see where my first word association with a card matched your keyword (ie the Hierophant, the Lovers) and where it didn't. I actually ended up going with my own words for quite a few of them, but only because listening to you discuss the cards made me think about them more carefully and brought out a word I'd associate more with them.
Lisa this series helped me SO MUCH. I LOVE YOU!! How would you feel about doing this same thing except for the reversals. I really think we ALL would benefit from it!! Thanks!! Xoxo
I've just started the course and am really enjoying it. So looking forward to being able to do a reading without constantly refering to a book for every card! I love the way you explain everything. Thank you so much!
LISSAAAAAA! You recommended these after a comment I left on your anti hauls (I binged watched all of them BTW). Wow! So I took a tarot class back in 2014 and although insightful I found it so incredibly complicated. I’ve taken breaks throughout but never had much success moving forward because of how most things I’ve read and watched complicated it! I am LOVING this video. i’ve been taking notes and writing the key words (which also, so far, have all resonated with me as well). Thank you for this. 💚💚💚
I love this series! I am a more seasoned reader myself, but I love watching videos aimed at novices or beginners because you never know what layers of knowledge you might take away from someone else's definitions. For example, your word for Magician "Manifest" I think is really awesome. I personally love the word "Conduit" as I feel like the Magician is that conduit for spirit/the universe to be able to manifest and create. To me it's feeling the power that the world has to offer and channeling through me. I love your videos! Keep up the good work! Blessed Be. :)
I’m using the Art of the Tarot deck to write on. A dear friend got it for me but is not my taste at all and I didn’t knew what to do with it. Now I do!
Oh gersh I am so glad I found your channel - even though I have been doing tarot on my own for about 7 months I have not had anyone to practice with and am just kind of loosing figuring it out still! Thank you, I got a different perspective from how I read the cards. You have a lovely way of explaining things, can´t wait for the rest of the series ❤️
I decided to go back and look at my first tarot deck and the basics with these lessons as I’ve been reading awhile, but find it’s easy to forget those early stages as what shaped each one. It’s interesting to me to see how my core perception of the cards have changed and how a lot of them match your keywords but how others have shifted away from them for me. Really fun as a way to come back to the core of each card. 💚🍄✨
Thank you so much for all the work you are putting into this series, Lisa! 💗 I resonate with all your keywords ..although I thought I’ll choose “guidance” for the hermit.
Thank you for doing this Lisa! I have all these decks but I don't know how to use them, I just think they are beautiful :) I have really enjoyed the first 3 videos and I'm looking forward to the rest!! xo
Some have suggested using washi tape as it’s thin and easy to remove to write your words on and remove (your tape training wheels) later. Hope this helps! ✨
I used the word change for wheel of fortune until I read the meaning of the "Cycles" card in Heal Yourself Oracle by Inna Segal. It really added more depth than "your up your down".. Ha "As the wheel turns" It added an idea of seasons to life, and noting what cycle of life you are in and learning to fully present and acceptant of the moment/season of your life. Rather than wishing for a different season and accepting that time changes everything. If that made sense. Kind of Lion King, Elton John Circle of Life :) I really like this series thank you doing it.
Thanks so much for filming this series and putting it out as a free resource here on youtube, it was really easy to follow and truly helped me in coming to a more solid understanding of the cards. Love the channel, keep growing, keep glowing!
I'm currently doing both this, and your Bootcamp for Beginners. For anyone wondering, I feel like these two courses compliment each other, and I'm very pleased that I decided to do both. I'm learning so much, but even more important to me personally is that I'm becoming so much more comfortable with my Tarot journey. Thank you so much for making these two resources for us Lisa. It's exactly what I was searching for!
I am also doing both... was wondering if I really needed the Bootcamp if this short series was available but it's too late. I think it'll beef up my knowledge and memory. The only thing is the two series are a bit inconsistent. For instance, the Magician was referred to as "the manipulator" in the Bootcamp and "manifest" in this short series which I vibe well with more. Lisa is cool though so I am willing to stick it out in both series.
Yes! Excellent observation!! :D The inconsistencies you've noticed are intentional! :) I want the two courses to be able to work side by side for those who want to do both - so rather than duplicate the information, I build on it! For Tarot with Training Wheels, "Manifest" is a simplified keyword or energy to explore.... but in Bootcamp, we explore a comprehensive archetype for each major... so The Manipulator is a jumping off point to describe a bigger archetypal energy that will unfold more as you continue with your explorations and the assignments that allow you to dive deeper in. I wonder what would happen if you combined the two ideas. Maybe your Magician Archetype is "The Manifester" :D Either way, I hope you get lots of value out of both this course and Tarot Bootcamp for Beginners!!
Excellent! I love the spreadcloth. Does Peggy have any of that left to make bags with? About 2 weeks ago I did something similar - a little challenge game where you pick a single key word - an action word -a verb - to describe each card in the major arcana without using the actual labels or repeating any words. You can check out the responses here: ua-cam.com/video/vddpnv8oto8/v-deo.html
I'm brand new to tarot and I bought the Osho zen tarot deck as my first deck, i just loooove the artwork! . I'm hoping i can still use this method with this deck, I'm assuming i can since the cards seem to be loosely based off the major and minor arcana, although all the card names are different.
The OZT has the same system - though it goes its own way throughout! :) A lot of my personal understanding of the Tarot has been influenced by the OZT as it was my first deck as well! :) I'd love to hear your thoughts as you go through this course with the OZT! Don't be afraid to lean into a different keyword for each card (or the keyword on your deck!) if you don't feel they resonate with what you see in the imagery. As for the system.... and how it correlates from RWS to OZT: Majors are Majors and align. Cups = Water, Wands = Fire, Swords = Clouds/Air, Pentacles/Coins = Earth -- and you still have the blank card in each suit which = the Ace, and the different arrows correspond to the Page/Knight/Queen/King - if I remember < is Page > is Knight, v is Queen and ^ is King - though I may have my Page/Knight mixed up! :) Enjoy!
Hey all! I'm curious about 2 things for people following this course: 1. What deck have you decided to use? (I'm still so undecided, lol) 2. Are you writing keywords on the cards or doing the washi tape thing?
... just realised: When using sleeved cards there's no way to ruin the deck ... and you're free to choose the position of the keyword. Then ... these are my keywords (for now): 0 The Fool: Leaping; I: Awakening; II: Intuiting; III: Nurturing; IV: Shaping; V: Inheriting; VI: Distinguishing; VII: Drive; Strenght: Empowering; VIIII: Reflecting; X: Shifting Comments: The words. Some words came from the dictionary explanation of the words you used. I took "drive" from you, because it's such a strong word. The progressive form of the words I've chosen to indicate a medium form (neither active nor passive but both) that other languages (ancient Greek for example) have. What I really, really, really don't like is the assumed male-female duality in the Empress and the Emperor. I'm certainly not the only (nonbinary) person that has trouble with this. The ascribed qualities are not that gendered and perpetually stereotyping things otherwise takes away from all genders/sexes. I'm quite happy that there one-gendered decks (like Animal Woman or the Divine Masculine) that are able to impressively show: the Empress and Emperor archetypes work with any gender/sex. Anyway: With "nurturing" and "shaping" there is a less strong duality (that to me has more grounding in reality) retained. Both is actually needed for proper growth. With just one ... there can't be rhythm and each of them alone becomes a deadly force quite quickly. I thought about using "creating" for the Magician, but discarded for I do see why you link it to the Empress. To me it's a shared quality of the cards ... with the planning and preparing on the side of the Magician and the fulfillment/giving birth to it on the Empress' side. "Empowerment" to me is not just a positive word. It can relate to superiority and grandiosity as well (sharing downsides with the Emperor). ... having added my thoughts: Thanks a lot for the video. It's very much appreciated!
Thank you so much for sharing your words and thoughts, I really appreciate that - LOVE Nurturing and Shaping for the Empress and Emperor - those are fantastic at describing the energies in non-gendered ways - thanks for sharing your thoughts about that as well. I think empowerment/empowering is a fabulous concept for Strength. And also! Sleeves is a great idea!
I feel like i cant properly distinguish between Magician-manifest and Empress-create 😳. Could anyone go abit more in depth into each word for those 2 major arcana, but how they differe from eachother?
These two words do have some overlap so I can totally see how that would cause some confusion! Even the dictionary definition of these words overlap. Perhaps, a clearer, more different keyword that might work for you for the Empress could be nurture. Because... while both these cards have associations to making things happen, the magician (to me) is more about weaving and working the energies around ones self to bring about desired change (also sometimes about showing off, or making you think one thing is happening when another is - more like a bit of trickstery energy or even sleight of hand type things like a street performer which is another side to the Magician that we didn't really get into here). The Empress (to me) is more about nurturing and mothering the things we're creating or working on in our lives. Often when she comes up for me, there's a message about what needs to be nurtured or what I might be over-nurturing. ;) While yes she births new projects and ideas and is associated with creation and creativity in her way, she *tends* to what she creates as well. She is very much a "mother" archetype. The Magician, on the other hand, feels more self-absorbed or self-focused (not necessarily a negative thing, though it can be in shadow, but definitely helps differentiate him from the Empress for me). These are just a few off the cuff thoughts from me!! What I'd recommend after watching each episode of Tarot with Training Wheels is referring to the guidebook for the deck you chose and reading about the same cards, combine that with what you're seeing here... maybe even add another layer or two by reading another guidebook or two - or looking up a couple different definitions for the cards online. The most important thing about Tarot with Training Wheels is that whatever keyword *you* pick for each card stands out to you and helps you remember the meaning - so mine really may not work for you!! :)
Lisa, may I ask some more questions about the bootcamp course? I'm partially sighted, is it videos with captions like UA-cam or written or audio format? Thanks :)
Hi Layna! Currently, the Bootcamp course is made up exclusively of videos with some homework assignment/handouts. I would be more than happy to make an alternate larger-print version of those handouts if that would be helpful - just let me know. There is a large portion of the course when we're comparing cards where i walk you through looking at various versions of the cards to come up with several keywords for each one that work for you so that component can be fairly visual but because it's all video content I'm talking through the entire thing. Also, throughout, you build your own 'deck' of Tarot Cards with your chosen words and other associations on them. There are not currently subtitles available on the Bootcamp course but I'm working on that for the future. Please feel free to email me with any specific other questions you might have!! :) You can reach me at tarotwithlisa @gmail.com
@@Lisa_Papez thanks so much :) I feel like I'd be happy with captions mainly, as for written stuff I can zoom in on my phone. :) so enjoying tarot with training wheels it makes it so much simpler and the keywords have inspired me to doodle my own card ideas but I'm not artistic at all :)

@@Lisa_Papez Yes! Definitely enjoying the boot camp! I’m learning a lot!
I am giving this a go with my second copy of the Oswald Worth Tarot which like the Tattoo tarot is pretty heavily influenced by the Marseillle Tarot.
Did i miss something or were there two missing cards? What happened to the Empress and the Chariot cards? Okay got it! 😊
Great job on this, Lisa!
Found that your keywords resonated and that I could guess a few. Enjoy how they are open enough for interpretation
Glad you like them!
Thanks so much for this series! I finally finished Lesson #3 :)
WOOT! Congrats!
This is amazing! Thank you for doing this series Lisa!❤️
You're so welcome!

So good! Thank you
Loved this so much! ❤️
I am your 1k like . Something I love being. Lol
🥰🥰🥰 thank you!
Lisa i love yhis!
Fawn.....lol...thanks for this series! Very informative
Enjoy!
Hey all!
I'm curious about 2 things for people following this course:
1. What deck have you decided to use? (I'm still so undecided, lol)
2. Are you writing keywords on the cards or doing the washi tape thing?
I’m using Practical Tarot Wisdom with the Radiant Rider - Waite tarot deck and write the key word on the top with marker. (No tape)

Fawn I was saying doe idk 🤷🏻♀️
This video was amazing but why are the rest of the videos private?
They are scheduled to roll out about once a week so that everyone can follow the course together initially with time between for homework!
... just realised: When using sleeved cards there's no way to ruin the deck ... and you're free to choose the position of the keyword.
Then ... these are my keywords (for now):
0 The Fool: Leaping; I: Awakening; II: Intuiting; III: Nurturing; IV: Shaping; V: Inheriting; VI: Distinguishing; VII: Drive; Strenght: Empowering; VIIII: Reflecting; X: Shifting
Comments:
The words.

@@Lisa_Papez More in-depth research is indeed necessary, but your explanation really helped 💙 Thank you 🥰

YAY! Here's your bonus points: ✨✨✨ I don't know WHY i could NOT think of that word 🤣🤣🤣🤣
