Ask someone who has been playing highland bagpipes for 8 months, yes I started on practice chanter and moved straight to highland bagpipes, I did not start playing mouth blown small pipes until about a couple months ago. Yes I actually bought my own set of mouth blown Scottish smallpipes. I still considered myself grade 5, especially when it comes to pipe band playing. One of the tunes that we did actually utilizes that catching g doubling, and it is called pikeman's march. I actually decided to learn another tune myself which also features that g catch doubling. Battle of waterloo. I decided to play it on my mouth bones Scottish smallpipes. I actually like the way some of the tunes that I've learned on bagpipes sound especially when playing mouth blown Scottish smallpipes. Sorry for the typos and some of the sentences. I meant to say mouth-blown and one of them, and I meant to say as someone who has been playing bagpipes.I also watched your starting on mouth blown smallpipes video, and I've come to find out that not only is it good for beginners, but it also makes for highland bagpipers, especially people have been playing highland bagpipes for a little while. I do find that mouth blown Scottish small pipes are really good for professionals too, and it just happens to be that playing mouth-blown Scottish smallpipes is my preferred method, because it resembles highland bagpipe playing, especially when it comes to blowing and squeezing. If you're asking about the brand of a small pipes that I have, I actually have a set of Piper's choice traditional mouth blown Scottish smallpipes.

Interesting thought that this would be better for band play. I would think targeting the hi G to occur on the beat would provide something for players to sync around
