Some excellent points, and some bad ones. In Scotland there is a ‘right to roam’ which does not apply in the rest of the UK. Walkers should stay on footpaths and other public rights of way. Of course dogs should largely be on leads, and always around livestock. But catching the virus from gates and stiles is a far-fetched risk. And the Government has not banned people driving to a place where they can walk as long as they are well clear of other people. It is reasonable to expect people to travel locally so as to avoid any risk of transporting infection to a different area of the country.,
Tony Fisher The point is that it isn’t everywhere to the same degree. Each region of the country is facing different problems, and some are still free of the disease.
Well Rick you sound reasonable but now you've heard it from an expert perhaps leave the car at home and walk your dog locally around a park or golf course. Not a great sacrifice at this time hey mate!
Noticed this a lot where I live, me and my little boy went into a field today, we made sure there were no animals, we went to the river to make a eco system in a jar, there was a woman in the field with two little dogs off the lead. My little boy and me had gloves on, gardening gloves, we simply picked some stones got some water and then that was that, we left, I love in the Scottish boarders were there have been 8 deaths. There is one hospital that cares for the whole of the Scottish boarders, I don’t know of any other hospital here I came originally from Glasgow, honestly thought we would be safer here! There is one bus that runs through my town and it goes from Edinburgh to Melrose. Edinburgh is the capital city in Scotland so the buses are full of it! The new Countryside Code (April,2021 ) says “Share the Space “ ! It would help if,in my case the Parish Council and local landowner hadn’t drawn up plans to both close/move Public Footpaths.Let us not forget that it is the public who have been providing 50% -70% of farm income since 1947.
The country is NOT on lockdown, IF they were walking on a footpath and the dog was under close control,; as long as the public are following the rules on social-isolation and they’re hand sanitising there is NO problem. As for FMD 2001 MOST farmers were taking precautions BUT some didn’t, I know of one farmer who’s animals had been slaughtered but he decided to go relief milking. Another was caught fiddling his timesheets, he was given the option to shutdown for 12 months or cleanup his farm, he said if I’m not getting paid I’m not cleaning my farm, 3 weeks later he restocked, putting clean cattle on dung that FMD cattle had stood on so........
Thank you so much for your hard work to feed everyone and sharing this important message. I'm sorry about the people putting everyone in danger. Hopefully they hear of this.
Total respect for farmers. Not sure I agree with this. It goes without saying dogs should be on a lead around livestock and people should stick to public rights of way at ANY time of year. Using an excuse of some people touching a gate...😶 We all have to take reasonable measures but we all need to go shopping etc and this is going to be the highest risk area by far this includes farmers shopping. Total avoidance and sterility is impossible. We all have to sacrifice things at the moment, some people have lost jobs, wages, lives, schooling, etc and now we can't take a walk on public footpaths because we're touching a gate.
I agee with some of what you have said. Due to the lockdown however, the government are advising people that they are not allowed to go walking in the countryside. If all the farmers were to catch the corona virus we would have no food in the supermarket. Hopefully the above video will put this into persepctive for people.
JonsTunes imagine the person b4 u had Covid 19 sneezed in their Hand and then touched that gate, you then came through didn’t sanitise, touched the gate, then touch your hypothetical dog ,later you meet other family members who pet your dog and in turn transfer Covid 19 to themselves, they then go and visit other family members or friends and the process extends exponentially. Think that was the point ....stay at home avoid unnecessary interactions. On steel /iron gates the virus can last 3 days from the last infected contact. So ppl walking in the countryside could get infected from that one gate.. prevention is better than cure.
I would suggest that during corona virus farmers be more careful of touching gate posts. Unfortunately the public footpaths don’t belong to the farmers and they hate it.
@@barrycarey7521 Yes I understand cross contamination etc. My point is that through traffic in these areas is minimal compared to say a supermarket, a tube station... I was taking precautions earlier, opening the gate with a sleeve, not touching my face, all the regular precautions. @JonsTunes so is a walk across a farmers land considered essential travel or could ppl stick to roads and avoid gates, styles etc. During this time! I am in isolation for 3 months so don’t even have a choice of going for that walk, or touching that gate, if you can....think yourself lucky.
A young American lady recently made an observation concerning farming in general. It is worthy of consideration. "Why", she asked, "do farmers still pursue their activities when people simply buy their food in supermarkets nowadays".

Walking through a field with a dog off a lead during lambing season is bad, and should be discouraged. If the guy was also being abusive, that's another problem. Walking through a field during lockdown is not against guidelines, and is in fact part of the government advice to get out and exercise. I live surrounded by fields. They are the only place I can walk if you want me not to drive. Besides that the latest government guidance to police was that they cannot stop the public driving to a place of exercise. We are rapidly approaching a level in the UK where the people who have space are telling the people who have not that they aren't entitled to it, using a health emergency as an excuse. Somebody walking through a field is not a risk to anybody. If you're that concerned about catching the disease I hope you never go to the shops, fill up your car to get to the shops, or pick up the mail that comes through your door. What about the veg packed in the wrapping in the shops? Last I checked the gov advice was to wash your hands, not avoid touching anything. It is getting ridiculous- stop using the virus to justify your own personal judgements of other people. This is Hysteria.

Lots of work is hard work. Enough with this "poor hard-working farmers" bs. In many cases they live an idyllic life, doing something they love in beautiful countryside. Fresh air, freedom of lots of space to walk, run and play in. Try being a refuse collector in a stinky, crowded city. Work all day then home to a tiny one bedroom flat that costs you more than half your wages. Then when you do save enough money for a weekend in the fresh air, getting treated with contempt for daring to walk or camp on the land.
Am I missing something... The public have a right to walk across public footpaths. If this wasn’t a public footpath or this person had driven to get there then that’s a different matter, but using public resources to get exercise is fine... We all have to wash our hands when we get in, farmers included ‘being disgusting’ isn’t an excuse? I appreciate that we need farmers, but people need exercise too and the coronavirus should not be used by farmers to try to expel innocent walkers from public places.
hishirie yes, but if there’s a public footpath over it that wouldn’t matter. If there wasn’t a public footpath then that’s wrong regardless of what’s happening in the world. Again, coronavirus changes nothing.

Sadly so many of these pandemics have been caused by eating animal products. It's time we took notice of this instead of blindly carrying on as normal.
This is so annoying lots of people break my fences and run there dogs in my field with my animals in it . They also walk all over my crops .for anyone that does this don’t it is private land and not for you to use.
Why don't you do a story of the massive gatherings in Birmingham for a burial? If you are so concerned about people walking their dogs? That's right you might have to do some proper story writing. If staying away is going to slow this down why has schools closing had no affect on the spread? If this is nothing like foot and mouth, why go on about foot and mouth? I refuse to be under house arrest when the people forcing, telling us this are ignoring it and going to their holiday homes. Why does stopping selling toys in shops help stop the virus yet force people to go out to entertain their kids? The model used to simulate the spread is wrong and is why foot and mouth was such a disaster!!
Because the funeral wasn’t on her farm? Just a guess. You are clearly a dog walker who does this by your reaction. The person who went to their holiday home was fired and vilified. But you want to complain and act the same? Hypocritical much?

You are the ones exploiting the innocent ones that is young Lambs ..I have worked on Farms ,I understand fully what goes on ,and yes its "disgusting" in your own words ,as you say , The way that animals are used and abused is barbaric and the reason for that is that society has indoctrinated people to be emotionally disconnected to certain animals ,they are NOT farm animals they are simply animals . So please recognise your own daily behaviour so as to stop being so hypercritical . Ahimsa . Its all about the money and until that perspective changed things such as this virus will be same old same old ..it was started by the exploitation animals...such irony .

Farmers are the guardians of the food chain and deserve our utmost respect no farmers no food it’s that simple.
"farmers are the guardians of the food chain"? So why do they poison the food chain and the water supply?
Farmers get twice the incidence of ALL serious diseases.
Do you think that is because of all the nasty fresh air they are getting or is because of the intensive use of toxic pesticides?
And another thing it is those farmers who are barn breeding and /or keeping close proximity to high concentrations of animals, which are the stepping stones for the various types of corona virus that infects our species, that are giving us these corona virus variations in the first place.
These poor poor farmers are the bloody cause of a lot of disease and suffering.

So we complain about Corona, while continuing to abuse animals for no reason but taste. Leave animals alone, eggs are for the chickens not us. It is reasonable to expect people to travel locally so as to avoid any risk of transporting infection to a different area of the country.,
Exactly!
Why does it matter if you transport the infection when it's EVERYWHERE???
Tony Fisher The point is that it isn’t everywhere to the same degree. Each region of the country is facing different problems, and some are still free of the disease.
Well Rick you sound reasonable but now you've heard it from an expert perhaps leave the car at home and walk your dog locally around a park or golf course. Not a great sacrifice at this time hey mate!

My little boy and me had gloves on, gardening gloves, we simply picked some stones got some water and then that was that, we left, I love in the Scottish boarders were there have been 8 deaths. Which when you compare that to the rest of Scotland it’s not very many but look at how fast this is spreading!!

Situations like this always shine light on the whingebags and busybodies
which are the farmers as usual
Total respect for farmers. Not sure I agree with this. It goes without saying dogs should be on a lead around livestock and people should stick to public rights of way at ANY time of year. Using an excuse of some people touching a gate...😶
We all have to take reasonable measures but we all need to go shopping etc and this is going to be the highest risk area by far this includes farmers shopping.
Farmers should also take precautions, saying the public can't use a public right of way because farmers don't follow hygiene guidelines and then trying to shift the blame on to the public is a bit unfair.
@JonsTunes so is a walk across a farmers land considered essential travel or could ppl stick to roads and avoid gates, styles etc. During this time! I am in isolation for 3 months so don’t even have a choice of going for that walk, or touching that gate, if you can....think yourself lucky.

If you maintain social distancing when out and about, there is no problem.
Errrrrrrrrr ignorant to walk in the countryside miles from other people?
Alan we are trying our best to maintain recommend 2 meter social distances but still there is a big risk... The virus stay in air till 3 hours... Who knows how got it...
Tony 10 days ago driving through Derbyshire ( Peak District) it was full of people specialy mam tor and winnat pass no spece for the parking even on the roads around... That was crazy...
@@shafishafique6412 Well according the WHO the virus is not airborne
Hope your safe ... I live right next to fields and farms and after this I will not take my dogs across the fields.......
It’s tough but we all should stay safe, take ca
Eat the pork Washing hands when home will not guard against what he touches whilst out walking the dog though. Gloves and masks. Too many people worried what they look like - or perhaps they hope to die I don’t know.
@Waqar Baig only worry if your female
always stiff always hard That might be just as worrying to be honest with you
Your arguments are way below nonsense.
We’re still getting tourists in Glastonbury! Stay in your own towns and don’t bring it here, because we’re doing the right thing
Farming is hard work.
You can tell how hard she works by looking at her (sarcasm)
Some people just have to talk so they can let everyone else know how important they are.
If it was me walking my dog she would be waking up right about now with a split lip like "Whaaa?"
@@Cappurniggas are you serious?
Lots of work is hard work. Enough with this "poor hard-working farmers" bs. In many cases they live an idyllic life, doing something they love in beautiful countryside. Fresh air, freedom of lots of space to walk, run and play in. Try being a refuse collector in a stinky, crowded city. Work all day then home to a tiny one bedroom flat that costs you more than half your wages. Then when you do save enough money for a weekend in the fresh air, getting treated with contempt for daring to walk or camp on the land.

@@normaloister4099 "daring to walk or camp on the land". If it's land someone else owns or leases it's called trespassing.
Antler from what I understood, it’s private property
hishirie yes, but if there’s a public footpath over it that wouldn’t matter. If there wasn’t a public footpath then that’s wrong regardless of what’s happening in the world. Again, coronavirus changes nothing.
I agree. Don't let dogs roam off the lead around lambs but don't use the virus as an excuse to ban people walking around
i'm sure it was her own farm, in the middle of a field is not a public footpath in scotland we have the right to roam but right now that doesn't aply the same right now, and the walker was being very rude and disrespectful.
Can just imagine her reply to the dog walker 😂
Stay at home and do nothing what a lot of BS.
She's gorgeous!
Sorry I know it's off topic, but you have to appreciate these things in these times...
and she's not even all done up. It's nice to see people that don't feel the need to put tons of makeup on.
I wonder does she eat alot of veg? Flawless complexion!!
Fingaz MC natural beauty at its best.
Very much agreed lads... OR lasses!
@@10highsky Was thinking the same thing. Would love to know her diet.
Thank you for this information. Sorry that you’ve had to deal with these ignorant people!
Sadly so many of these pandemics have been caused by eating animal products. It's time we took notice of this instead of blindly carrying on as normal.
the most beautiful farmer I have ever seen and smart, thank you Emma for your work feeding us
This is so annoying lots of people break my fences and run there dogs in my field with my animals in it .
A great vid, you're the only one who made me smile today. Thanks for everything you're doing. I hope you make it through this.
Oh please , firstly "Imperfection cannot judge imperfection " .
I have long believed that when they take children to petting zoos and they pet and name an animal and watch it for 10 minutes thinking they love it that they watch it go through the slaughtering process and can have it for lunch if they eat meat.
To right well done you have hundreds of animals to look after we only have ourselves its easier for us then it is for you
@ don't worry about that you've earned it taking care of our lovely countryside and nature that lives there and the hard work you live it we get to go home at the end of the day where as your animals don't care if your watching a film if they need you you go thanks again and take care of yourselves
This woman is a heroine.
