Great videos !!
Thanks Sven 🏍👍
Hi old mechanic enjoy your video they are really helpful I was wondering if you could make one about the BMW F800 GT drive belt tension
Next time my daughter in law her F800GT is in again I will 😉👍🏍
What amazes me most after having watched many videos by the Old Mechanic is why there seems such a lack of appreciation from his viewers. According to my screen he has nearly 2k subscribers this video at the time of writing has rec'd 18 thumbs up...if there happens to be a better mechanical repair channel related to BMW motorcycles on youtube I would request the link; but I doubt one will be posted. Perhaps there is some truth in what is said about BMW riders in Australia... that is "rich pricks with their noses stuck so far up their Schuberth's that repairing one's own motorcycle hasn't crossed their mind".
Thanks Gunga, very nice words 🏍👍
Uhhh by the way.. I have a Schubert helmet too..😂😂😂👍🏍
@@TheOldMechanicAll I can say is thank god you don't ride a Harley and wear and open face helmet; comments about such riders are even more derisive.🛵
Hi there!
I am the owner of a BMW F800ST (2007). Today I tried to adjust the preload of the rear schockabsorver, as I was turning the knob I realised it was very hard and in some "cliks" it was almost stuck.. suddenly something went wrong and as I was putting some lube and trying to loosen the knob turning it clockwise and anticlockwise several times in order to get some lube in it... something inside broke down😢 and now the axle behind the know is loosen, it won't get in turning it clockwise.
I have bought a second hand replacement which I am waiting to receive but my question is...
I have seen in your video you turn the axle behind the knob all the way in so that you can remove the shockabsorver from the motorbike, do you think I could remove my broken shockabsorver if the axle behind the knob is turned all the way out? Would it be a big issue? Would I have enough space to get it out anyway?
Many thanks for your videos and your help 😉
The problem is that, that axle is too long to get the shock absorber out. Maybe you can use a Dremmel tool to cut a piece of it, so its short enough to get the shock absorber out 😉
@@TheOldMechanic Finally I rised the rear frame and took the rear wheel of, that gave some more room to twist the schockabsorver. It was a little bit tricky but I could manage to remove the schockabsorver.
I am steel wondering how could it be that the axle behind the adjustment knob has broke down inside. The motorbike is parked always in a closed garaje and has almost never see the rain whtich means has no rust spots that could had lead to broke that part.
Thanks again!
