If having problem with water in the compressor, just leave the compressor drain plug with a small leak while painting. This has worked well for me so I thought i share that. Awesome work. God bless!
Thanks for the video! you put out a lot of information . The paint looks awesome and the car also! I've got a 78 MGB to restore and being a welder fabricator for the past 30 years I know that finding someone knowledgable in the field is the key to success . I subscribed yesterday and have been watching your videos and I will say I love the old school approach and humbleness you demonstrate . Best luck to ya and God Bless !!!!
is a huge job painting a car start to finish, booth sure made things easier and going be better finish result ... was a therapeutic watch and good reminder why i avoid full scale painting lol .
It amazes me how them Spiders like to come out of No Wheres and get in the paint whilst Curing. We learned years ago that dirt will just plain stay up in the rafters and never come down unless disturbed. A friend painted a customer car and either a mouse or probably a squirell ran accross one of the ceiling joists and flicked dirt into the paint. Miracles never cease
Only now getting the chance to check this video out. Awesome looking job fitz! People don't realize the amount of detail and effort goes into a paint job behind the scenes. It's not as simple as standing there and pulling the trigger to get a perfect finish. It's ALL the stuff you do leading up to that point that makes the difference! Theres hours of thankless work that nobody sees...
Nice going Tony, I started out in 1972 when pick and file work and lead was still the way. And Painters where [ to their own minds ] Gods... That paint Job looks very nice, especially after knocking the rust off your skills.. All the best Tony..
Hey Fitzee the gold stars and brownie points your earned doing this I could feel it in Wendy’s voice your certainly not in the dog house for the foreseeable future my good man 😂😂 it’s hard work but worth the effect especially for the wife ! nice job shes gonna absolutely love it 👍
Classic gold filler is what I used 40 years ago. Sounds like the stuff your using up north. Good stuff, you will never go back to standard filler again.
Nice job,Tony!! As a hobbiest painter in the late 80's early 90's the base coat/clear coat system had pretty much just started but I never used it. I would use acrylic enamel and a clear coat. I had (and still have) my Binks Model 7 spray gun that I loved. Anyway, I'll be dragging it out of mothballs in the near future to paint my "63" Falcon so this was a great brush up for me too. There was one thing that I used to do when I painted that you didn't mention though and I'm not sure how many people did it but I would mix an ounce of color with a quart of clearcoat and it would help make the paint look like it was a mile deep. God bless and you did a beautiful job. Wendy must really be happy. 👍👍🙂
O M G The Tips were fantastic and the end result is fabulous. The mustang is perfect and on point. Gleaming Quality perfection. I know your wife is happy. Now on with the Toyota.
Tony that turned out very nice there bye!Im in the midst of redoing my 2007 Dodge Ram 3500 Mega Cab all new sheet metal.I did all the body work.Used to do that when i was younger but im 60 now.I will let a young guy do the painting.I could probably see the paint going on but i can't see the clear. Its like its invisible to me.I used to be able to see a mouse take a shit a mile away but not anymore.Excellent job there my man.Cheers from Manitoba
Fitzee Great Job, Like you said, Dirt and Prep, Keep it Clean. You never mentioned bugs like Spiders. They seem to Love paint. Excellent Video, Wonderful Color and Finish. Happy Father Day to you
Looks good to finally see the paint I thought I’d see last year! Gotta love B5! Problem with those guns is there disposable you can’t get parts for them nor the better Black Widow.
60 to 90 psi in the Binks ol' model 19 (I think...) was the ticket back in the day. I also can't believe the cost of paints today. I've been waiting for a video where you showed blocking, paint prep and painting. Beautiful Tony!
Good point on the filler over primer. I think the problem is some don't use a polyester based primer, which the polyester fillers stick very well too. Other primers, not so much. Paint came out great, nice work!
Dear Lord, brother. That truly looks spectacular, I am so going to paint my 85 dodge shortbox pickup that color. Ty so much for this video it's truly inspiring.
She looks mighty fine, sir. As someone who was painting in the 70s with old siphon feed guns.. I understand all you mentioned. And I agree that those cheap guns can do a great job. I have one with a .8 tip that makes clear lay down like glass. If you have to have a "flow indicator".. the rocker is a great place to have it. ;)
That turned out amazing! I have played a little with painting and it’s a lot of work but well worth the effort when it turns out as well as this. Great work Fitzee!
Back in the day I used all Dupont products. 80s red oxide primer filler. When I started they were still using Dulux for overall pain jobs. Then came Centari acrylic enamel. GM work was all Lucite acrylic laquer. 😂 I wouldn't know how to use the product you use.
I came into the trade same time. I sprayed all those paints. Delux regular enamel took skill to spray in silver! The stuff today is much easier. Problem is the finish in base clear will sink back into the base. So buffing is involved.
I first found your channel because of you working on the Mustang. The paint color and finish looks fantastic. On our end we could not see a single flaw. The clarity of the reflection of the ceiling lights looks almost mirror. Wendy is going to be blown away! Thanks for showing us Fitzee.
Been watching you work on other car's and the mustang is in the background great to see you get er painted it turned out fantastic great tips too thumbs up on this one 👍👍
🎉🎉🎉❤ oh my God what else can I say this came out amazing and in Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 we have a saying it is not the Tool is the Master behind it that's making the magic 🙌 ✨️ and you are that one.... Hope you had a wonderful day Blessings for you and your family 🙏 stay safe 🙏
I know the camera can hide a lot of things but this looks pretty good straight off the gun. Omni base is pretty decent for an overall job like this as long as you are not painting the car all in separate pieces. It's almost like a candy and takes a lot of coats for full coverage. If you paint the door and fender off the car they are very likely to not match. As a Mopar guy I've always loved B5 blue.
Fantastic to see the Muzzie project nearing conclusion, mate. That's got to feel good and Wendy sounds truly over the moon at the prospect and all! The old girl looks fantastic too - reminds me of Le Mans Blue and really suits the beast. I can see why fabrication and bodywork are more the favourite though (as they are mine). Painting (primer, top coat or clear) requires a lot of fiddling about and a lot of prep work to get it to a point where the result makes you happy to look at...and nobody who's never done it will understand the time involved with that process (or see it) putting it on and getting it off again. As you say, you can only do so much to keep out the dust and contaminants once the paint goes down. The biggest bugger over here is Midgies - tiny little sand flies - that like to get in anywhere they can, kamikaze into the paint and often swim around a bit before the paint hardens. It results in a delay to sort them before laying the next coat or you end up with a bigger lump and a possible run everywhere they zoomed in! Great job, my friend. Looking forward to seeing the beast all back together and a very happy Wendy taking it for a blast. All the best.
Homemade booth, inexpensive materials and guns, lots of patience and a bit of a perfectionist attitude and a paint job to be proud of. Of course B5 is a beautiful blue, and can be tricky to spray with the metallic, but looks great!
Nice work Fitzee! Surprised how well the clear laid out with a budget gun. I will definitely be taking your wealth of knowledge on board for my painting and fabrication projects. Appreciate you sharing this with us and thank you.
Hi Tony. The Mustang looks great! The paint is probably way better than factory. Back in those days, they didn't really try to get the paint perfect when they were built. Most cars were single stage enamel and didn't hold up to the elements as well as modern finishes do. You explained all the details very well. A lot of prep work. Thanks for the video!
Can’t wait to see it all back together, great job, been kicking around painting my FJ 80, a bit more real estate, but going to go for it. Thanks for all the great videos
Mopar had some of the best colors and B5 was one of the better ones, good choice Wendy. I'm 2 weeks out from doing my first paint job, thanks for the tips.
Well... at least we got to HEAR Wendy... haven't gotten thru the whole thing yet, but I've been wracking my brain trying to remember if you've ever introduced us to your wife... and I simply can't remember having seen her on your channel. THIS was fun...
Looks good for someone who hasn't done one in ten years . I've been to some car shows were guys say the paint every day and there's didn't look as good as yours. Enjoy watching the whole process of welding ,body work and paniting to see how things turn out.
I'm glad to see you doing some great paint work. You did a fine job. As far as I'm concerned there is no place in life for show car paint jobs. I drive everything I own. Talk about you being rusty; I haven't painted a car since 1993 when I painted my 57 Ford Ranchero Wimbeldon white in a two car garage with Centauri enamel. I color sanded the whole car and buffed it but I always did my paint jobs that way because I started painting with lacquer. Someday I'll get the balls to paint metal flake base / clear. I can see your experience goes way back too. Thanks for the reminders and what to look out for with the new stuff. Even if you are a millionaire you should never overpay for anything.
Over a year? The cobblers children have no shoes! Great video sir!
Very nice job , perfect and straight. Who doesn't like an old Mustang. True about the paints these days.
Easy Fitz! You never talk about how cheap you’re getting by when you’re working on the wife’s car! Spared no expense honey, I swear 😆
Oh, it sure looks nice! I fondly remember my 289, 1968 Mustang.😊
Man that paint job looks killer Fitz!!
Regards,
Duck
Great job. As a painter for 20yrs I deveoleped a saying perfect doesnt exist and flaws only exist to be discovered
Finally the wait is over! We get to see the paint laid down! Been waiting for this one Fitzee!!
BUTIFULL job like it

Thanks for going step by step in detail, very helpful! My new favorite channel!

Beautifully Done, Tony!
looks great, good to hear Mrs. Fitzee happy.....
I thought I saw dust on your paint but after I cleaned my computer monitor it looked perfect!
The quality of the prep is amazing. Even shooting with a 30 dollar gun, it looks amazing.
The old push rod blow gun ,remember a few guys used those ,great job !
It's all coming to me now. Brent got Esther's Buick all painted. So now fitzzies is under the perverbiel gun. Love your channel sir.
Just like candy! All your prep shows. This proves that it's possible to go less expensive and get great results!

That one little dent "oh my oh my oh my"!! Love your stuff Fitzee, and most importantly Wendy sounds v happy 👍
It looks beautiful. It's came out a whole lot better than I could ever do. Nice color, too!

Yes i forgot Bugs!! Boy do I have stories of those little buggers!
Wow!! Just Wow!!
Wow Tony, that looks fantastic, you did a great job on that one and I'm sure Wendy is gonna be thrilled with it, nice work 😍😍😍
awesome work. i enjoyed watching every step you did.
Nice lick of paint Tony, you never lost your touch.
Looks great! When the lights reflecting on it look like a mirror image, you know it's well done! Awesome work fitzee!!!
Happy wife makes a happy life, I think you did a great job since you haven't painted in long long time.
I was so excited to see the Mustang being painted. What an awesome job!!! She is going to so happy. Just another great video. Thanks Tony.

Walking front to back really looked great
thanks for sharing Tony, came out really nice ... 👍, no inspection needed this time, peanut's day off was mandatory ...😂
I have to say; I've enjoyed every one of your videos so far, but this was the best of them all. Outstanding job Fitzee!

Great job .
i buy the cheap gun at harbor freight when there on sale for as little as 6 bucks... use a few times and toss ...great job tony...
I bought one of those last year to paint my front door… worked flawlessly … Nice job on the ‘stang Tony… The Missus will be pleased I imagine…
I have a lot of respect for your attitude about materials and tool costs. Keeping it real. 👍🏻
Absolutely beautiful color and paint job!
