That's why I'm here. Pothole right next to my driveway on the road from a water line breaking underground. They ain't bout to fix it anytime soon. So I'ma have to do it.
Yes. Society pushes college degrees too much as if it’s a literal life requirement, and they don’t push trades enough. We’re paying for that now, and it will get worse.
Love the demo, but, you really should wear garden or similar gloves when removing old tar (at all times through the process, actually!), as there can be unexpectedly sharp objects embedded in them (e.g., in my handyman career, I've found glass, can tops, nails, et al.). Love the tip about letting the asphalt sit in the sun (n.b., a blowtorch used gently over the cleaned hole, before adding the asphalt, helps, too, but, is not necessary, and can be dangerous for those not accustomed to working with torches, and, of course, it adds to the expense). Avoid sealcoating small areas, alone, as it will not work as well as coating the entire driveway. Also, if you don't have a stamper, a 3-5 pound sledgehammer works just as well, though, of course, it'll take more time (since I rarely fix potholes, I don't have a stamper, and wouldn't have a place to put it, if I did!). Do not use the back of a shovel, as you'll never get the even and heavy pressure needed to tamp the asphalt; also, don't bother running your car over it: You'll ruin all the work by pushing the asphalt out of the holes, not to mention getting the stuff on your tires, because, surprisingly, the distributed weight of the car isn't as good as the sledgehammer or stamper!
Great video what are your thoughts about putting driveway-sealer down first and then putting the driveway patch on top of that and then 24 hours later putting driveway sealer over that ?
I have the perfect solution for potholes. My dad gave me this recipe before he passed away. He worked for an American company and it was way back in the 70's and 80's , you can still drive on those roads until this day...there will appear a pothole in some other part of the road but never on that part where it's been fixed. Unfortunately: I am a woman and I am South African, so I wont get the contract to do it...sad, very sad!
If it's not a secret, can you reveal how to do this. I have a drive way 900 foot long. It is costing me a some fortune to keep up over the years. Thanks in advance!
Would you use superglue on a dusty-muddy surface? Of course no! Why not applying same principle here. Its common sense, you won't get a strong bond without preping that hole.
Tax payers are already paying for this service to get the pot holes fixed . Now to have a pot hole fixed we must buy the kit too and fix it ourselves. It's sad to think we commercials showing this is the norm .
Good information. However, using the word "Tar" is not good as it refers to a "carinogenic" material that promotes the formation of cancer. Tar has been banned in South Africa. The correct word for the product appears on the bag: "Asphalt". Please stick to the correct product description.
Very clear, down to the point, fast explanation without any unnecessary words while having everything necessary.
This man is great, he's accent sounds like Jamaican-Australian
His South African, incase you wondering .
Naw, he's a Saffie, for sure.
You are spot on 😂
Thank you Xo I’m running for mayor in my city. We have major pothole repair to do. I’ll be mostly doing it myself. Your videos will help me a lot.

Awesome! I finally have an idea of how to fix the potholes at work.
How do I tag the whole country in this comment? I think we're going to have to fix our country's problems ourselves from now on

Free labor.
When sweeping up after repair use the old dust and brush it on top of the patch to blend it in !!

Great for South Africa. Won't work anywhere there are freezing winters. Even if you do it in the summer, it will heave out in winter.
What a champion
Enjoying the videos 👍
What to do to get it the same color as the old asphalt? it stands out now.
What if the hole is wet?
Drink the water
Giggity
Blow it out
Rewatch the video.
All right!!!

Sometimes we hear it up with a blowtorch to bind.
I'm very impressed with this presenter. I bet he speaks like 5 or more languages 😐
well....do you put anything to put on the cold tar mix?
Love the accent bro

Will it not melt in the sun after filling?
No it won’t. It’s just asphalt. You don’t know anything about asphalt. I do know everything about it.
