What’s the The Da Vinci Code movie about?
One night, Professor Robert Langdon (Tom Hanks from Cast Away, The Green Mile and Forrest Gump), an eminent specialist in the study of symbols, is called to the Louvre Museum in France. The museum curator has been murdered, but before he died, he left behind mysterious symbols. With the help of cryptologist Sophie Neveu (Audrey Tautou from Amélie and Coco before Chanel), Langdon will lead the investigation and discover signs hidden in the works of Leonardo da Vinci. All the clues converge towards a religious organization as mysterious as it is powerful, ready to do anything to protect a secret capable of destroying a two thousand year old dogma. From Paris to London, then to Scotland, Robert and Sophie will try everything to decipher the code and get close to the secrets that challenge the very foundations of Christianity.

Tom Hank’s delivers the line “you are the last living descendant of Jesus Christ” just beautifully.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Make you wonder about this movie and unnecessary sequels...
Which is Wrong
What do you say to that?!!?!
for historical purpose its interesting if were true but fiction not it wouldn't mean jesus was anything more than a man and with out Jesus actual blood to confirm the connection it wouldn't really matter.
The book was so good man. I remember being a 13 year old just devouring it and thinking "now this is fiction!" rooted so deeply in our real life, but with an incredible fantasy full of action and danger weaved in. The book was so good I didn't even care to watch the film when it was released, just happened to catch it one night at a hotel.
Same. You know it's a good book, when you start question reality. The movie was good too
If it isn't true, why are they still killing those of the bloodline?

But she still had a brother ( according to the book, idk about the movie ) so there's that

I love how they worked the mistranslation theory into her name as well Sauniere to St Claire Sang Real to SanGrail. Love good writing and storytelling
Ultimate bragging rights right there. Not a doctor, lawyer, celebrity, Prince, Princess, King or Queen.....but the last living decendent of Jesus Christ.
So... Does she have the same choice that sons of Eärendil had?
She’s not the last of us.
Except there are hundreds of thousands in real life.
"And it didn't even get me a free coffee!"
@@stardaggerrihannsu2363 Evidence?
In the book she isn't actually the only living descendant of Jesus. Turns out her brother survived as well and is the receptionist at the end
Yup and there is no reason to believe that Sauniere was anything less than her actual grandfather in the book
Well she's technically not the last in the movie either when the priory reveal themselves to her and Robert the old lady says she's Sophie's grandmother that the priory has protected "our family".
@@biggt0820yeah when I made this comment I do admit I forgot about the grandmother but my comment was still valid
But her grandmother might not be a decendant of Christ just because Sophie is.
@gdfgaming9378 You ARE the secret....you...are..the last....living descendent of Jesus Christ!
I know it’s the general consensus that this a terrible adaptation, but I still can’t help but love it for what it is. There’s action, mystery and just the right bit of fantastical. And Tom Hanks! Tom’s the best!
I love it too, it’s just too fun
why does people consider it a bad adaptation?
Is there? The general consensus is that the book is a steaming pile of rubbish, it's much better as a film without having to struggle through his writing.
Me too, I watch this movie every now and again and thoroughly enjoy it :)
@@bakoyma Ditto. Though it doesn't scan that she is the last living...especially since she later meets her actual bloodline grandmother, doesn't she?
Fantastic film. The author did his homework. Tom and Audrey performed their roles so well. Exciting story!
You know it’s a great movie when it makes you wonder if it is real.

Not only did Forrest Gump drink Dr. Pepper with President Kennedy, run across America, found Bubba Gump Shrimp, invest in Apple early, get awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor, and become the world's greatest Ping Pong champion, he also discovered a living descendent of Jesus Christ.

It is the most adorable movie I have seen in my life … I saw it many many times and enjoy it every time. So magnificent
Good writing and 2 powerful actors gives a memorable scene
This debate has been going on centuries after centuries..and whereas Dan Brown finally put forward in an epic paperback, though fictional yet the message is distinct & clear.. amongst us lies the bloodline of the eternally Jesus Christ.
The bad thing about the movie "The Da Vinci Code" was towards the end the family had said that the secret to the location was lost when the grandmaster died, but in the book of the same name, they knew and just wanted Langdon to not say anything if he figured it out.
I think they did it for the sake of the open ending in the end of the movie. Langdon did find it, but whether he decided to reveal it or not, is up to our guess and perspective/ imagination
@@jyu6977 The thing though is that the entire premise in the film is flawed.
All the bones of Mary could prove is that a living descendant was related to a woman that died 2,000 years ago.
It wouldn't tell anyone that the living person was related to Jesus because they have no remains of Jesus to compare any DNA to 🤨
@@mnomadvfx but to be fair, if it were proved that there was a living descendent of Mary Mag, people would pretty much consider that proof considering the theories and texts that the professor mentioned that linked Jesus and Mary. It may not be empirical proof of Jesus's bloodline, but for those who believe already, she would be worshipped, and many who didn't believe may come around.
@@biggt0820and let's not forget, even if we do not have any proof that relates this living descendant of Mary Magdalene to Jesus, it still would link them to David, since Mary Magdalene is also a descendant of David. Considering this, the living descendant can be considered as heir of abraham, the messiah that came long before Moses or Jesus.
@@praveensukabrahmam The problem with that is we're ALL supposedly descendants of David, as he was the first human.
At 4:28, I'm just imagining Sophie replying with "well I'm not religious lmfao"
doesn't matter. even if we see JC just as a cult leader of that time...he is a major historic figure.
also, religious ppl would immediately see her as divine, they bit crazy ;)
I enjoyed the Da Vinci Code more than Angels & Demons and Inferno.
Inferno was such a disappointment for me. Angels & Demons was decent. The Da vinci Code is by far the best one.
They changed the end in Inferno, which was the biggest point of the book. That explained the general disappointment and low success of the movie.
I thought angels and demons was terrible. Liked the da Vinci code though
Da Vince Code is great, Angel and Demons is good, andvInferno is bad.

When I read the book it was absolutely exciting! Sophie looks so much different than how I imagined her...
Ikr? And idk but for me the book's better
i know this only a fiction but have you ever questioned you're self what if there was really a living descendant of Jesus Christ today?
Jesus did not give into the desires of the flesh. Even when he starved and the devil tempted him to turn the stone to bread, he proclaimed that one doesn’t live by the desires of the flesh but by the word of God.
Living descendants of His adopted family sure, James who led the Jerusalem Church, Joses husband of Magdalena, whose bloodline may well have passed down through the Merovingians and the Nazarene Church. He however, was the divine pre-existent one who beget all creation, many heresies have come from those who claim to descend from Him.
@@kemj9 John 2:1-8 NIV “On the third day a wedding took place at Cana in Galilee. Jesus’ mother was there, and Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding. When the wine was gone, Jesus’ mother said to him, “They have no more wine.”
“Woman, why do you involve me?” Jesus replied. “My hour has not yet come.”
His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.” Nearby stood six stone water jars, the kind used by the Jews for ceremonial washing, each holding from twenty to thirty gallons.
Jesus said to the servants, “Fill the jars with water”; so they filled them to the brim. Then he told them, “Now draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet.””
The way he’s reacting it feels as if he’s done this before.
But in reality there really is no way of telling whether Jesus did in fact have a wife and children since the library of Alexandria was burned.
Emmaculate conception is a theory! If you believe in people having several lifetimes! Then this person possibly born to Elizabeth after John the Baptist! And raised by Jesus after their death! My guess as Martha!!!! God's funny like that!🤷♀️ Then later became Sara! Possibly around since the beginning of time!
Well Jesus was not white though.. western bulshit 😅😅😅
All I know is this: I would marry Audrey Tautou in a nanosecond. 😊
This movie has more truths than people realize. Although some things not necessarily how they actually are.
Also the roman catholic church fought for 7 years in courts for this film not to be released (fact) now that says something
What are the truths?
In the book, Sophie's brother is revealed to also being alive
That line elicited laughter at Cannes. I would have joined!
I'm generally bad at predicting plot twists but I saw this coming from so far away that I wasn't sure if the characters had already discussed this for half the movie😂😂
Yeah she driving car backwards, her touch relieved an addict or langdon, she being extremely fierce showed she was no ordinary human either
This story would not have happened if she weren't "the chosen one". I don't see it as a plot twist
