her question snapped him out of his thoughts. catching him staring into the horizon. silent since who knows when. he had read about the U-boats coming in through the kapiti strait. but couldn't fathom it to be true, he wanted to see it for himself. the war machine brought to his village off the coast line. no longer could he ignore its call as it called out to him by name. tomorrow, (he'll) ill-depart. He dropped down placing his knee in a dry patch of grass he swept his daughters hair to the side and looked her in the eyes. "the skies not always blue, is it ?" seagull drifted behind him against the current, motionless. "look." he pointed towards the horizon. were the crest of the ocean and sky meet. a pale green haze, a pink mist dozens of kilometers away. "over there." she squinted, her gaze tracking his hand to the distant beyond. "light is made of every color." he scraped the ground with his palm, closing it with the turn of his wrist. then opened it to unleash a handful of sand to the breeze that carried it away. "The colors are filtered by the particles in the sky, But why is it blue ?" He heard the reason crashing against the shore, waves spilling onto the black rocks sweals of the white noise filled his ears. The seas scattered across the beach. dissipating before them. The scientific explanation, so rational and clear in his mind. Yet when he answered. He told her. "God decided it so"
to me, spiritual paralysis remains to this day the best musical project you've ever released, and the eponym track especially so. thank you for everything
It's amazing how Absence really clears your mind and thoughts to be able to appreciate and take in the rest of the album. The palette cleanser to better appreciate the album.
Also listen to this for when I'm writing and hoping that my novel eventually gives people the same feeling this album gives me :) your music is so appreciated, the fanbase you've developed might not be the biggest but I think we all truly feel something from this art that is so deeply meaningful for all of us, thank you so much!! PS Tracking from Black Cake 2 is one of the most melancholic sounds I've heard in my entire life :')
Hey just wanted to let you know I’ve listened to this album countless times. Whenever I’m writing I’ll put this on. I’ve begun to really sink deep into a piece I’ve been working on and genuinely you have no idea how much of it I owe to you. Thank you. Thank you for helping me to create. It’s brought me more purpose and joy than I’ve felt about anything I’ve ever made. You are the soundtrack of my creative process. Thank you I genuinely can’t write if I don’t have one of your albums on or maybe something from carpenter brut. I won’t word vomit anymore just need to try and let you know how unbelievably important what you are doing is to me.
@hexsystem ooh wow. That's pretty cool man yeah I saw you were taking drum lessons and I was curious yk. I'm personally a drummer myself so i noticed. So did you do the same thing for new is old? Or was that you playing on the kit. Either way you make some awesome music man. Try using some of your own drumming next time. Even before any acoustic kit you made some pretty clever drum machine parts on manhunter. Got to be one of my favorite drum beats that wasn't on drums. It's also kinda rare for an electronic musician to use real drums so when I heard it was a nice change. If you ever wanna challenge yourself. Try drumming the beat to man hunter. I've tried for a awhile now and still can't get it down just right. Big fan. Sorry If this is long winded I'm just very appericative of your music and animations. It's like a breathe of fresh air.
The Coastline gave me shivers... The incorporation of sirens and the poetry!
I listened to this while I'm asleep, very weird dreams...feels warm.

Some of the tracks need orchestral version!
Yo. Did you use real drums on some of those songs. I know you got a drum kit and take lesson so i was curious if you started adding it to your music
I wrote the drum parts but hired a professional, Graham Hopkins, who added a bit of his own style to them too.
