Thanks mate! I've pinned your comment because that's pretty handy :) Btw, if you want you can have a metal door on the adobe door frame too, it doesn't affect the insulation.

I'm just getting back into ark and am trying to set up something in scorched earth for the first time. Gonna give it a shot tonight. Great video, really one of the best presentations of information I've seen, subbed! Well done!
I'm back! Sorry it's been a while. Since posting my last video I've gone from 110 subscribers to 880 which is pretty awesome, so to the 770 new people - thank you and welcome! I had to remake this video due to an update that stopped fence foundations stacking. But I have loads of new video ideas on the way. I'm also on twitter now: twitter.com/captain_fatdog Thanks again everyone, cf ;)
Soloing SE right now, and absolutely struggling with just a metal base. This is genius! Planning out a Paracer platform with this, can't wait to go anywhere I want!
Your video editing skills are perfect! I can pause the video, and look at what you wrote and where your arrows are pointing! Super easy to understand. Thanks a lot, great video!
Thank you, I'm glad you said, I've had the odd person say before that the videos are too quick for them to build and I'm thinking, surely you know how to pause a video!
I gotta say this is pretty good and if your not playing on scorched earth you can do this with wood and stone to make your base look more aesthetic hard six layer metal base on the outside and soft comfortable base on the inside with hard wood floors and alpha rex skulls on your wall.
Awesome vid, I'd been wondering for a while how to do the multiple height ceilings. just couldn't work it out :) you vid is by far the easiest to understand.
One question: can we do this in reverse too? I think kind of a "sleeper build" where other people only see the adobe but it is actually metal so it kind of goes under the radar. Would a build like that still have the same benefits?
question, you used thatch materials at the beginning, why did you use wood later? And i used the higher wooden ceiling snap and i still cant get in without crouching
Thatch foundations and wooden ladders are just using the cheapest materials. Not sure why you are still having to crouch, must be a wrong snap point going on somewhere.
This is great and a nice tutorial! The only annoying thing is when you add in the internal Adobe walls and it replaces the metal one instead, ya have to do the whole thing over again.
absolutely love this, but couldn't you use your 6 layers walls/floors/ceilings technique to do this by making the outer 5 layers metal and the innermost layer adobe?
Awesome job there Champ, crafting mats to build now. Just wondering, what's the reason for the foundations along the roof ?? Is there any structural reason or just for looks ??
Hi Captain! Would it be possible to just double foundation with metal on bottom and Adobe on front and double wall with Adobe insane? Or would that affect insulation
not sure about a rock elemental, but would a giga be able to boop the adobe right through the metal? i know they damage any structure pieces lower than metal on my island base (thatch, wood, stone) stuff that i have inside to pen dinos for breeding etc..
tried it out. first off, damn fine video. no fluff, quick, concise, easy to follow. the only thing i messed up, was i snapped the adobe walls closer to the metal walls i think than you did (looks like i managed to snap them right up against the metal, where your build used the inner point, leaving a very small gap between the metal and adobe walls. anyways, rock elemetal, no damage. giga, intermittent damage. most bites hit nothing, a few caught the adobe on the floor, and the first row of adobe walls. no damage on ceilings or upper row of walls. also boosted the giga to 10k melee, same results, just a lot more damage :)
Thank you ;) I think the reason why I did a gap between the adobe and metal walls was that otherwise some bits of adobe were sticking through the metal. Thanks for letting me know about the elemental and giga, I was going to test it but completely forgot.
for some reason every time I place a wall on the center snap point it moves to the other snap points. do you have any idea how to correct this. I've tried moving at different angles and flipping the wall and nothing seems to work
Someone else had that problem, he said he solved it by standing back as far as he could so that it couldn't go on the snap point it kept trying to go on.
I did this method on a much larger scale but im using a metal behemoth gate for dinos to get in and out. Do you know if Im losing insulation with the metal gate? Do I need to stack an adobe behemoth inside and close the gaps with adobe walls?
I'm not sure to be honest. It's something I've been wondering myself for a while but haven't got round to trying it yet. I might get time to give it a go later, if I do I'll let you know.
I'm thinking its more based on proximity, so if you have a huge open building, one large enough to need a behemoth gate, you wont get the entire buff from the adobe insulation. Still negates the effect of the metal tho. But leme know what you find if you do test it. Thanks.
I've made several bases on Scorched using a similar design. But now I'm up against something new: I've never built on a larger area of uneven ground... which requires a significant number of pillars and ceilings to cover. How does one create a two layer design similar to this when you have to use a combination of foundations... and ceilings with pillars ?? Extend metal ceilings off of the metal foundations and adobe ceilings off of... in the case of your video, the existing adobe ceilings? I'm guessing you'd have to put down the upper adobe ceiling, then the pillar, and THEN the metal ceiling... otherwise the pillar would probably snap to the metal one only?? (But then, double ceilings underneath probably doesn't provide very much extra protection, I suppose.)
For a start, I would suggest using the method in this video ua-cam.com/video/evbxprFSVGU/v-deo.html to make your metal ceilings flush with your metal foundations. You will have to do the metal ceilings first, if you try doing it the other way round, the lower (metal) ones will be obstructed by the upper (adobe) ones. Once you have the metal ceilings in place on pillars you can snap the adobe ceilings from the ones laid on top of the foundations. If you want more protection underneath, you can add another layer of metal ceilings - just lower the foundation another step and you have another snap point height to work with. Hope that makes sense, if not, feel free to ask more questions :)
Hey, little question. I built 3x5 foundation just as suggested, put wooden ceilings around but when i tried to place adobe ceiling on top of the metal foundation, for some they snap but for the rest they dont. Any solution for that?
With the new piece of ragnarok's map on the horizon (Scorched) in wondering if you can incorporate stacking into this build. I'm good at following instruction but cannot figure what to lay down first without blocking a piece later when I'm attempting to stack. Love all the vids dude, truly.
I've not tried it but it shouldn't be too hard. If you like I can record a quick video for you (since you are a Patron), just let me know how many layers thick you're wanting to stack etc.
Could I snap foundations to the outside of the base with the fence foundations there, because I want to surround this small insulated base with a bigger metal base
If you are surrounding it with foundations, I probably wouldn't use this method, I would use adobe foundations for the internal floor rather than ceilings, you wouldn't even need the fence foundations.
Very late into making a desert base on PS4 lol but I already made the bases outer walls and foundations and everything.... buttttt I forgot to leave the original thatch foundation and now I can’t find a way to place the ceiling the way u placed it. Any tips on how to fix this issue?
Yes, the thatch foundation is 1 unit higher than the metal ones and fortunately for you I have a video on how to raise by 1 unit. ua-cam.com/video/8q5h9c1ube0/v-deo.html It's no simple task but it will be easier than starting again.
Can u make this out of stone instead of metal because it doesn't work so well and theirs a crack in all 4 corners and I can't the wood ceiling to the higher snap point or it's really hard to find is their solution to the problem oh and great videos keep it up
The PVP server I play on is super aggressive and I end up having to restart EVERY WEEK. I made a lot of friends though so I don’t want to leave. Will this insulation work with all the wall stacking and foundation stackings? I think I’m going to bend up using ALL of your videos to finally make a safe home for myself.
I followed this guide but made the walls 6 high instead of two. I was thinking I'd be able to add 2 extra floors from the inside with just adobe, but I couldn't find snap points. Any chance you can make a video of how to do the same thing but with multiple floors? 6 Walls high for example. Or how to build on top of this building after building is built if possible.
for the suggest vid i'm sure 4 walls high with 2 floors would work. we could infer the rest if we wanted to go higher. i'll try to post a vid later of a base i built using your method.
May this system work with a metal dino gate ? would you need 2 gates ? ( one metal and one adobe ) or just a metal one ? ( with a little loss in hyperthermical resistance) Nice vid , you are the first one i ever subscribed to :)
I'm not sure about that, I keep meaning to test it but keep forgetting. I will do my very best to remember next time I'm on. Thank you very much for allowing me to be your first subscription 😉
Dude, you have saved me and my tribe's butts with this! This is so awesome. I ran into a snag though. I built this 4 walls high so we could have a second story, but I couldn't get all the fence foundations to snap right on the first ceiling. Some did, some didn't even give me the option to snap to the right point. I already set the walls up (4 high) and had to back track a bit by destroying a couple walls at a time, but this didn't seem to work. I'm perfectly fine with the adobe showing through, but I was wondering if you might have any advice?
That's good to hear. It's probably because fence foundations will jump up to the ceiling above (if it's 2 walls higher or less). If you're not bothered about the appearance though you don't really need them.
Hi i love your videos they really help and your editing skills are very good but this still work i cant put the adobe celling on top of the metal fundation. what i have to do for put the celling on the fundation?
i have issue to place walls. When there's multiple snap points, sometimes, after i placed the wall where i wanted it, it change snap points. its frustating and losing alot of mats because of this. Do you have a solution to this? Nice vid btw, really helpful!
That's ARK for ya! Sometimes there's not much you can do about it. All you can do is try standing in a different position and wait a few seconds before placing to make sure there's no flickering between the snap points. I suppose you could test it using thatch walls. Thanks ;)
captain fatdog - ARK: Building Tips Ok, yeah im standing as far as i can of the wall so i can only place the one infront of me and not the one behind. Its the only solution i have. Thank you for responding :)
I'm having an issue on xbox one where the adobe ceiling won't snap right to the metal foundation it's raised up and when i try to lower the ceiling tile won't let me is it suspose to have a small space between the foundation and the ceiling ?
Yeah i even tried to mess with it and place the tiles next to the foundation to see if i was going crazy or something and things didn't seem to be lining up right. I know your method works but for some reason mine is just acting up. I decided to just to with all adobe im not doing pvp so no big issue was just wondering if anyone else had a problem.
Yeah I got rid of it now but basically was a noticeable gap between the foundation and the ceiling tile and threw off all the snap points thanks for the respond btw liked and subbed :D (Unless im extremely retarded and there is suppose to be a gap between the foundation and the roof tile :/
On the original version of this video I actually had a gap between, you can see it 33 seconds in ua-cam.com/video/TDBnL0JI2Rs/v-deo.html I'm guessing that's what yours looks like. I had to remake the video though because the fence foundations don't stack like they used to. Thanks for the like and sub anyway :D
You are a lifesaver! I can finally craft things inside my base without dying, which is always handy! Is there any way that I could build a second floor? Placing ceilings in the corners of the building does not seem to be working.
It happens sometimes, that's just ark for ya! Every situation is different but for best practices wait about 5 seconds before placing it. If its going to go on the wrong snap point, the green highlight will normally flicker within the first 5 seconds. If it still fails, try placing from a different position.
Sorry, only just seen this message, I didn't get a notification! If that's happening it means your ceiling is at the wrong height, you must have done something wrong on the first bit.
captain fatdog - ARK: Building Tips I got the base set up but I couldn't get the appropriate snap for the door ways. Still gotta squat or demolish the fence foundation in the door way. Very happy with the setup though! Thank you. :)
I know this is old and I'm a noob, but (and I havent dobe scorched earth yet, I'm on the center) what does have an insulated structure do? and does ot affect breeding? being on the center (or ragnarok) does metal not insulate well enough? and aside from adobe what is the next best insulated material? Thank you
The reason why you need it on scorched is that you will literally cook to death otherwise. I'm not sure how much it would effect breeding, I'm guessing it would help with some types of eggs but not all. You wont need it on any other maps, only scorched earth. Thatch is the second best insulated but obviously thats really weak.
This update was critical because I was following your other video minute by minute these past few days and I hit a stopping point. I could not snap the thatch wall to the lower ceiling without breaking out two ceiling tiles and exposing the metal. That should've been clue #1 for me,. After going up 3 high with thatch, BBC that's how high my walls are, the ceiling tiles would not snap to any lower points on the outer wall, clue #2. So this made it impossible to for me to cover the ceiling in metal because the adobe would only snap to the highest snap point. So what I' am working on now is putting the metal ceiling on the 3rd wall and on the inside placing the adobe on 2nd wall high. Not my favorite idea but mining metal and CP is not as fun as actually building. I also had to begin my structure on pillars due to the slope and size of my bunker. Any help you can give would be great. This is also pre- foundation being left new ceiling snap point.
No, it won't allow me to place the adobe ceiling against the adobe wall. If I place the thatch wall on top of the adobe floor I can snap the ceiling to the top of the wall where the metal goes. I wonder if building on pillars caused this? There is a gap between my metal floor and adobe floor.
Ahh, I think I get what's going on now. I'm guessing it's due to the gap between them being too big. Ceilings can only be placed a certain distance down from the top of the wall before it becomes obstructed. You need to somehow get a slightly higher snap point (so the gap between the roof ceilings is smaller). It's hard to say how you can do it without trying it but I would start by trying this: Step 1: Snap a thatch foundation on the outside of the building, beside one of the pillars. Step 2: Snap another thatch foundation beside the first, going further away from the building Step 3: Place a pillar in the middle of the second thatch foundation Step 4: Place a thatch ceiling on top of the pillar Step 5: Build thatch walls up from the thatch ceiling until you reach the height of the building That in theory should give you the correct height for your adobe ceilings! Let me know if you need any of that re-explaining, it can be a little tricky to describe!
captain fatdog - ARK: Building Tips okay I will try that. I saw you do it in your second video so I will follow your instructions. Thanks for your help.
Wish the structure limit on platforms was higher. I'd love to do this but I couldn't even make a stone room that size before hitting the limit on mine. :(
It's not that hard, just get $3,000 dollars and you can buy one like I have. If you want to see what kinds of PC ark videos my computer is capable of making, I have a little series called Survival Evolved? I swear im not telling you to go watch them, I'm just sayin. Incase you wanted to know. My specs are in about too. I know it's expensive, but.. dude PC is the WAYY to goooo srsly :P
I'll get saving up ;) I've just watched your entire series, it is stunningly beautiful, very well recorded and edited, you have done something nobody else has done and you deserve credit for it.
This is cool, but obsolete. You can use the Fatdog wall layering method to put adobe inside metal and get the same result. It's easier, faster, and looks cleaner. The one thing it doesn't do is allow for the ceilings to nest the way they do here, but you can get around that in other ways. I usually just make the base 2 tall, insulate the bottom half and not the top. You can but things like troughs and fert bins in the top, or incubate wyvern eggs up there.
@@captainfatdog I think the reason was probably so that you can have an inner ceiling and an outer ceiling without addign a whole floor? Thats my guess, anyway. Honestly didn't expect a reply! I love your content, dude, and I recommend your channel to all my building friends! Please don't misconstrue this as my being critical; i just was trying to point people towards the other (in my opion better) wall method which you posted later.
All is awesome, except the Adobe doorframe doesn’t align!! It is just stands out, and when you want to build above that, it just replaces the metal wall behind. Anybody has any idea what to do ? Thank you
@@afrika1982 Sorry for the late reply. It's difficult to tell what's happened there. I'm assuming it's just on the wrong snap point and you need to mess with it to get the right one.
great video's man! loving it! but you have made a video armoured adobe. this is basicly the same video. but other thanks that, keep up the great work!!
What about this, using the same techniques as he did in the video, but use wood on the outside and metal on the interior. Could be useful for PVP. Large tribes won't attack u because they think it's made out of wood, but smaller tribes can't because of the metal.
Another high-quality video. Easy instructions.
Thanks mate! I've pinned your comment because that's pretty handy :)
Btw, if you want you can have a metal door on the adobe door frame too, it doesn't affect the insulation.

Hello! Do I have to use ceilings? Why not using tricks from your other videos?
The reason is that if you use adobe foundations they stick through the metal ones and can be seen & damaged from the outside.

Not sure you still monitor this but If the ground is uneven and you have to go to ceilings instead of foundations...is that a problem?

If you are surrounding it with foundations, I probably wouldn't use this method, I would use adobe foundations for the internal floor rather than ceilings, you wouldn't even need the fence foundations.
captain fatdog - ARK: Building Tips ok thx
Can u make a Video, where a second floor is added to the building ? that´s isulated too?
Yeah, I will do at some point :)
This is genius. Do you know if this works with s+ im having issues. might just be user error tho
Thank you. I've never used S+ as I am on console but form what I have seen things work quite different.
Works perfectly with large walls still in 2019
Very late into making a desert base on PS4 lol but I already made the bases outer walls and foundations and everything.... buttttt I forgot to leave the original thatch foundation and now I can’t find a way to place the ceiling the way u placed it. Any tips on how to fix this issue?
Yes, the thatch foundation is 1 unit higher than the metal ones and fortunately for you I have a video on how to raise by 1 unit. ua-cam.com/video/8q5h9c1ube0/v-deo.html It's no simple task but it will be easier than starting again.
what do you use on the inside? abode or metal or does it not matter for the insulation?
Needs to be all adobe inside for best results. If you have a metal room inside an adobe structure you will still cook to death!
good to know, tnx
How would you do something like this on Ascended?
Question will insulation help on abb surface?
No
Can u make this out of stone instead of metal because it doesn't work so well and theirs a crack in all 4 corners and I can't the wood ceiling to the higher snap point or it's really hard to find is their solution to the problem oh and great videos keep it up
I have done it before but the method is a bit different and I cant remember how now. I will have to look into it again.
Thanks :)
Yes, don't think layering is going to save you though. You are much better off focusing on defences like lots of turrets.
Would this same design be able to work with a second level?
Sure
I followed this guide but made the walls 6 high instead of two. I was thinking I'd be able to add 2 extra floors from the inside with just adobe, but I couldn't find snap points. Any chance you can make a video of how to do the same thing but with multiple floors? 6 Walls high for example. Or how to build on top of this building after building is built if possible.
Yes, I will. Might be a few days until I get round to making it though, I have another vid to do first.
ok, i subscribed. hope to see multi level insulated base soon :)
for the suggest vid i'm sure 4 walls high with 2 floors would work. we could infer the rest if we wanted to go higher. i'll try to post a vid later of a base i built using your method.
Thanks for the sub :)
Ok, I will see what I can come up with.
Cool, I would love to see your base build!
May this system work with a metal dino gate ?
would you need 2 gates ? ( one metal and one adobe ) or just a metal one ? ( with a little loss in hyperthermical resistance)
Nice vid , you are the first one i ever subscribed to :)
Thanks for the feedback! Yeah, that makes sense. Ark has some weird snap rules that aren't always consistent. I appreciate the help.
Hi i love your videos they really help and your editing skills are very good but this still work i cant put the adobe celling on top of the metal fundation. what i have to do for put the celling on the fundation?
Thanks Bruno! You must have used a wrong snap point somewhere, just double check you are doing it exactly the same.
Could I get a list of all materials required to make an identical base to the one you made?
Not sure about the materials but a guy called teacup519 left a comment (which I have just pinned) with a list of structures ;)
i have issue to place walls.
Ah yes, I forgot about doing that!
I'm having an issue on xbox one where the adobe ceiling won't snap right to the metal foundation it's raised up and when i try to lower the ceiling tile won't let me is it suspose to have a small space between the foundation and the ceiling ?
Not sure what's going on there, that shouldn't happen. Are you sure you have done it exactly the same as the video?
Yeah i even tried to mess with it and place the tiles next to the foundation to see if i was going crazy or something and things didn't seem to be lining up right. I know your method works but for some reason mine is just acting up. I decided to just to with all adobe im not doing pvp so no big issue was just wondering if anyone else had a problem.
I'm guessing you have probably demolished it by now, but if not you could send me a screenshot and I can try to work out what's going on.
Will this work for stone and thatch?, could i make a stone box with thatch in the inside,
(I Can't afford metal and adobe)
Hmm, I've never tried but I don't see why not!
my friend did not go through the door in some way I do not enter the entrance.
Aye, its easy to get a wrong snap point when doing that, especially since half of the time structures don't go where they are supposed to!
Thanks for the explanation great build design extraordinary. :)
How would you go downhill?!! it's so hard because the cellings won't place in the ground. can I use pillars to raise the whole base?
Yes you can! Quite a few people have asked that so i'm going to do a video on it soon.
You are a lifesaver! I can finally craft things inside my base without dying, which is always handy! Is there any way that I could build a second floor? Placing ceilings in the corners of the building does not seem to be working.
Awesome, glad it helped! It should work, you might need to place the ceilings before the adobe walls.
Great video but am I able to do this on uneven ground?
Yes, I will be doing a build video with that soon.
I started off nicely, but some of the metal walls I place don't snap in the correct position to how I place it. Would you know what's happening there?
It happens sometimes, that's just ark for ya! Every situation is different but for best practices wait about 5 seconds before placing it. If its going to go on the wrong snap point, the green highlight will normally flicker within the first 5 seconds. If it still fails, try placing from a different position.
A lot of mistakes and effort, but thanks to your help and dope video. I now have a sick insulated base :)
Awesome! :D
can't put cealing on metal foundation. it's green but when i click left mouse i can't snap. some help?
Sorry, only just seen this message, I didn't get a notification! If that's happening it means your ceiling is at the wrong height, you must have done something wrong on the first bit.
Why wood instead metal fence foundations for the inner adobe?
You can if you want but they don't really do anything other than give you a snap point.
captain fatdog - ARK: Building Tips I got the base set up but I couldn't get the appropriate snap for the door ways. Still gotta squat or demolish the fence foundation in the door way.
Very happy with the setup though! Thank you. :)
Aye, the snap points can be pretty annoying when it comes to that doorway. Glad to hear you got it setup :)
I see, thank you!
So can you not get the correct height by doing what you said - breaking out 2 adobe ceilings to expose the metal?
It's hard to say how you can do it without trying it but I would start by trying this:
Step 1: Snap a thatch foundation on the outside of the building, beside one of the pillars.
Step 2: Snap another thatch foundation beside the first, going further away from the building
Step 3: Place a pillar in the middle of the second thatch foundation
Step 4: Place a thatch ceiling on top of the pillar
Step 5: Build thatch walls up from the thatch ceiling until you reach the height of the building
That in theory should give you the correct height for your adobe ceilings!
Let me know if you need any of that re-explaining, it can be a little tricky to describe!
captain fatdog - ARK: Building Tips okay I will try that. I saw you do it in your second video so I will follow your instructions. Thanks for your help.
Awesome
Wish the structure limit on platforms was higher. I'd love to do this but I couldn't even make a stone room that size before hitting the limit on mine. :(
You should make these videos on PC since it doesn't have screen tearing, and generally has better graphics.
I know! I would if I had a PC capable of running it. You fancy buying me one? :P
I'll get saving up ;)
I've just watched your entire series, it is stunningly beautiful, very well recorded and edited, you have done something nobody else has done and you deserve credit for it.
I can't remember why I did it this way but I'm pretty sure I had a good reason. I knew my walls stacking trick before I made this.
@@captainfatdog I think the reason was probably so that you can have an inner ceiling and an outer ceiling without addign a whole floor? Thats my guess, anyway.
Honestly didn't expect a reply! I love your content, dude, and I recommend your channel to all my building friends! Please don't misconstrue this as my being critical; i just was trying to point people towards the other (in my opion better) wall method which you posted later.
gg vid right there, #1
well after testing it i wish some parts were more detailed, like which is the snap where the wooden ceiling attachs to the thatch wall
Thanks!
I know what you mean, I'm still trying to improve the clarity of instructions.
All is awesome, except the Adobe doorframe doesn’t align!! It is just stands out, and when you want to build above that, it just replaces the metal wall behind. Anybody has any idea what to do ?
Thank you
Can you share a screenshot link here or on discord or twitter?
@@captainfatdog imgur.com/a/YcUwKZh
@@afrika1982 Sorry for the late reply. It's difficult to tell what's happened there. I'm assuming it's just on the wrong snap point and you need to mess with it to get the right one.
Thank you. I’ll look at it !:)
great video's man! loving it! but you have made a video armoured adobe. this is basicly the same video. but other thanks that, keep up the great work!!
Thanks man! I had to remake this because an ark update stopped things working on the other video. Lots of new video ideas on the way though ;)
Okay that is the reason, good thing that you have made a update!
What about this, using the same techniques as he did in the video, but use wood on the outside and metal on the interior. Could be useful for PVP. Large tribes won't attack u because they think it's made out of wood, but smaller tribes can't because of the metal.
I might do a video on that at some point ;)
Could you do this to a one foundation house?
Yes
Can I break the metal rail at the bottom of the doorframe
yes
Is it possible to do that on a not flat area? (i tried and failed)
Yes, you should be able to use the technique for the roof on the bottom too, with pillars attached.
could you make a Video of this? and or maybe a Pyramid Style Base?
after placing the metal walls i cant get another fence foundation snap point
You mean for the wooden fence foundations?
I figured it out, I wasn't flipping the wall correctly, thanks for the video, has made my giant build much easier
Ah, ok, glad you got it sorted :)
How can I make a 2 story or 3 story still insulated?
Just same as this but taller and put floors inside
what happens if i put a third layer outside?
Then it will be even stronger :)
You can actually have one in between the adobe and metal layer too for a total of 3 walls thick.
Anyone figure out how to get the generator to stop taking damage.
