    I was surprised to receive my BPS bush axe yesterday. Surprised because I hadn't ordered it, I'd ordered a knife, which also arrived. Surprised at the quality of materials and workmanship. Surprised also at the utter goofiness of the design. The sheath is very thick leather and is well put together, if it actually fit it would be perfect. The flap did not reach far enough for the snap to touch the other half. After soaking it in water I was able to stretch it to fit and closed it with the axe and a shim inside and left it overnight. It fits fine now but I did need to clean up the discoloration and fuzzy rust on the blade from 8 hours contact with the damp leather. It's not an axe, its almost a hatchet and there may be some use for it not better accomplished by some other tool. I'll give it a try and see.

      So one thing when ever you soak leather and wrap it around a knife or axe or gun for that matter always wrap it with some plastic wrap and then you will not have to worry about the metal rusting.
      As far as this axe/hatchet or what ever you want to call it as it seems to be an argument people want to make.
      Well it is what it is some people will like it and some won't.
      I showed what I think it is capable of doing in my video and what I would probably use it for.
      For some reason though it seems that everyone is focused on a one tool does all option which is just not reality at all.
      Are there better Axes/hatchets out there sure there are and I own several that are hands down better tools.
      But for a little back up axe/hatchet that will fit in a small pack that can help you trim branches or make kindling and can split some small logs if needed so you do not damage your knife well as I showed in my video it is more then capable of doing that.

    I actually like the hand position when using it to make feather sticks with the finger choil. It looks like it would have less stress on your wrist when pushing down since I have a little arthritis in my wrists. When using a knife I have a little pain and can't use it as long. I use a small Estwing hatchet more than a knife because of it. I hope to get one soon if I can with the war going on. Thank you for the video and taking the time to make it and well done. Really enjoyed it.

      thanks for the great comment and they are still available on amazon as of yesterday.
      there are "some people" that do not like this little axe/hatchet but me personally I love it.
      But the so called axe police on youtube have told me that I am an idiot and do not know anything.
      That coming from people that do not own one have never tried one and live in there moms basement most likely. lol.
      I think it is a great little axe and it does everything it should be able to do well.
      I think it is a great light companion to a good straight blade knife for when you have some larger tasks to do and it carries well on a day pack.
      But that is just my 2 cents for what it is worth.

    Been looking it over should make kindling ,small warming -coffee brew up fires just great as well as a gathering tool should you find a nice pole to make in to a walking stick etc id maybe grind a flat on the point so it could be driven through larger pieces for the camp fire ,i do like its relatively light enough it shouldnt be a bother to carry in a back pack or day pack me mostly ,i like a trail hawk at this time as my small day pack carry hawk - hatchett but this might be workable as it is imo .

      thanks for the great comment and for me it is a great little day pack hatchet and does everything I need it to do.
      It also is very well designed for defensive situations as well which I found to be a plus.
      No it is not the end all be all hatchet but I love mine and plan on getting a couple more just to through in some different packs.
      I think the problem these days is that people want one end all be all tool and there just is not one.
      And this is a tool to me that does have a place in my tool box.
      and it is nice and light but well built and should last a long time.
      thanks for watching the channel.

    That 1066/95g is a great steel choice for an axe.. solid carbon spring steel that has crazy toughness. And they run at a a great hrc .. been wanting to order one since release (i have nearly every bps knife released and love the company) but i have about 4 hachets and even more axes so im having trouble justifying a new one... really wish they would have used screws instead of rivets as i really like to do my own scales on their blades.

      A drill can remove those brass rivets lol. I'd remove the top section of the handle anyways since it's in the way of any splitting that might get done.

      the sheath is made very well and of nice leather just like there knife sheaths are so it should hold up and last a good long time in my opinion.

    I got two of the adventure knives and the camp ax all work great. They are also collector pieces now because the factory they where made in is no more, was destroyed by the war in Ukraine.

    • @BravoBassin
      @BravoBassin  6 місяців тому

      I did not know there factory got destroyed I was afraid of that happening to them as I had said in another video I had done about BPS knives.
      Glad you were able to get these before that happened I hope they will be able to rebuild and keep maing knives and there little hatchet/Axe as well as they are so well made and affordable.
      Thanks for watching and the comment.

      Yeah like a knife or axe will make a difference we're already a few trillion into this stupid war let them finance it themselves we owe them nothing.

    It is sad to see that folks have no clue what a axe or a hatchet should be ! Whit that handle I believe you can shave the pubic hair . How can you say it s a cool little hatchet when we both know it s total garbage

      well one mans trash is another mans treasure and have you even tried this little camp axe out?
      I find that forming opinions about products you have never used is just about as useful and smart as pissing in the wind.
      But everyone is intitled to there opinion and what works for one person may not work for another.
      But I will be looking out for your video about what a reall axe or hatchet should be.

    • @timasuna1756
      @timasuna1756 7 місяців тому

      Small hatchets are only useful when they have a certain thickness, and flat back side to baton it through bigger pieces. This thing looks like it would instantly get stuck in knotted would again and again just burning calories and time.

    • @BravoBassin
      @BravoBassin  7 місяців тому +1

      @@timasuna1756 Well I will say this we all have things we like and don't like when it comes to the tools we use.
      What one person likes and finds usful and works for them may not be the tool that works well for someone else.
      Me personally I like this little axe and have had no problem with it splitting the size of wood that I feel it is capable of splitting or chopping.
      is this the best little axe in the world no but is ita good little compact axe to throw in a small bag so you can have something a little bigger then a knife to do some chopping and splitting small pieces of wood yes it is in my opinion.

    • @BenPaddlin
      @BenPaddlin 6 місяців тому

      I believe what he is referring to is the fact that knife makers should stop making axe shaped knives and marketing them as bushcraft axes. This axe is a glorified knife, that weighs more and is less efficient for carry. It can easily be outperformed by any $10 hardware store hatchet.

    • @BravoBassin
      @BravoBassin  6 місяців тому

      @@BenPaddlin Well the problem is the so called bushcraft community in the first place.
      Most of them are full of shit and have never been in a real world survival situation in there life.
      But it is because of these dipshits that this market has been created in the first place and they call everything they might use a so called bushcraft knife or axe which just cracks me up.
      As far as this little axe video goes and it is just my opinion which does not add up to shit.
      I like it and I can see some use's for it and to be able to through it into a small pack as a back up is a good thing in my opinion.
      But I am not a bushcrafter or so called survival expert I am just a guy that likes and has spent most of my life living in the woods as I say all the time in my videos.
      I am also not trying to sell anybody anything and have no sponsors and everything I review is just me giving my opinion.
      And yes I agree there are many knives and Axe's that are way better and cheaper then this little axe I would take a fisker's X7 over this little axe any day or and estwing 12 inch ,16 inch or 26 inch axe for that matter hands down.
      I appreciate the comment and the imput.
